Yeah, Atlantic Star should be in someone's Hall of Fame if there's an R&B hall of fame, definitely. Honestly, it's just refreshing to see that A group of 20 year olds who appreciate classic R&B Honestly, I feel sorry for the generation now. When it comes to music this trash . They listen to now it's just sad..

This was the original Atlantic Starr, which included Sharon Bryant as a lead vocalist. Awesome music! You get songs like this when the band has actual singers and musicians. The songwriters came up with lyrics that had meaning. No auto-tune. Just real talent. Oh...and their harmony was out of this world! ❤
After Sharon left in 1984 and there were other personnel changes, the group crossed over to the pop charts. Their classic R&B sound changed. You'll hear the difference between their early 80s R&B music (i.e , Send for Me, When Love Calls, Love Me Down, Circles, Let's Get Closer) and their crossover pop songs after 1985 (i.e., Secret Lovers, Silver Shadow, Always, All in the Name of Love).

The bonding of man and woman.
    The EUPHORIC SPLENDOR.
Of what love does to you.
    Changes you.
    Strengthens you.
    We CHOSE to love.

Ashley I grew up across from Detroit Michigan. A White Young Woman from Windsor Ontario Canada in love with R&B and Motown during the 70sand 80s,and 90s. Falling to sleep to the gorgeous sounds of WJLB radio out of Detroit. Dancing in some of the best clubs in Detroit with my wonderful friends. We connected through these sounds. I am a musician and my granddaughter is being introduced to this gorgeous time period. So many female artists overlooked for their beautiful talent. I am glad others are being introduced to this soulful journey. Grandma from Canada, Lori.C.

Youth is sooooo impatient. It always has been.
At this time in the world, everyone wasn't in such a hurry.
When a slow song came on at the dance, we wanted that moment to last forever.
It may be helpful for today's audiences to understand that: this music was representative of a desire to slow down the pace of the world...not speed it up.
And the music reflected that fact.

If you pay attention some of the best oldies, and what makes some of them better than others is a lot of those great songs will at some point in the song break it down and either tell you a little story about what’s going on in their heart and their mind as the music is playing or they’ll sing about wants going on and take you on a little detour and then bring you back into the song. In this song in particular he starts saying in the middle of the song “Sometimes I need you to show me it’s not a mirage…” , and when he’s done talking to her he jumps back into the song. It’s pretty cool, and gives a little more depth to the lyrics. Some of my favorite oldies are the ones that break it down in the middle or some point in the song and tell you why he’s singing the song 🔥

One of the reasons for the long intro's was that we slow danced in the clubs to these songs. That 30-45 seconds gave you time to match your rhythm and bond to your dance partner. We didn't just jump into it, we were smooth with it! 😉

It's believe that the don't make music like they made it
Back in the day I'm 62 years old there or Artistes In this time frame that sing so beautifully and real to the heart that they to will be spoken of with the same wonder as those in time pass like your Kems Anthony Hamiltons ,M Soulchild Keisha C ,Her Ella's M, Avant, Maxwell, and the list gose on but what I believe is missing is the Hearts of these young that thinks what's love got to do about it. People nowadays are so scared of g5 hurt that they throw up they're guards to keep from getting hurt . What they don't know is this type of adduetued robs them of the beauty of real love one most open themselves up to the joy and pain that comes with True love if you shone the pains that comes through your interactions with be in a relationship you will never reap the the joy that comes from being in love with another.

Women really gave all of themselves to their men back then. It's only when the break up of our homes began to really take root. Then the musical production industry began to choose what the message would be, that we started to see the disintegration of our love for one another. I miss the love.❤
