Why the hell did he get is diploma taken away? He's worked hard for it and he deserves it. It's so unreasonable to take it away after this one thing. Besides, you can tell by the audience that they weren't bothered, but rather shocked and laughing. I was laughing! He has some guts to do that!

***** I guess. But, still. All students looks foreword to getting that "paper". So I would be disappointed if I didnt get it after such a small stunt lol.

***** Yeah, but that's you. To others who knows what it means. I know that I, personally, would not want someone to take away my diploma. It is a physical representation of your accomplishments in all 4 years of school to be honest.

I was referring to the piece of paper that they give in the ceremony, all it says "congrats blah blah signed principle". I kept my diploma, which i got 2 months later lol

To be honest, I don't understand why you're all arguing with me about this. The point of my comment was that he did a harmless stunt that made people laugh. Thus, he should not have to lose anything, whether it is a diploma or something more important. I'm saying that he should not receive some "punishment" because what he did wasn't that big of a deal.

I was there. They are very strict. No noise, clapping, etc. and it was the excitement for the middle of the graduation. None of the students were offended by this. Listen and look at them! Even the administration were having a hard time holding back laughter and smiling.

Okay, so I know this guy personally. It was a senior prank okay. Just because he is black doesn't mean that all blacks do this and shit. Quinton Murphy is a straight-A student and he plays multiple sports in which he was captain in all of them. He met the requirements and passed with a very high GPA. So unless you know him like I do... Shut the fuck up and have several seats please.

Considering how stupid he appears in this video, the school most have gave him some type of special treatment in the classroom for being an athlete. I can hear the principal going around telling his teachers not to fail him since he is an athlete. Don't feel bad, I know other schools give special treatment to their athletes too.

    • @phyllcollins7071
      @phyllcollins7071 10 років тому

ChaseTerrier I agree with you about his actions being stupid, but the school gave him nothing. In fact the administrators / teachers don't play that. He may be smart book wise, but his actions at graduation was not very bright.

Good for him! adding a little 'spice' to an otherwise droll ceremony. Lighten up folks. There's plenty of opportunity for 'conforming' to society for decades to come. If he's still around for his 20th, 30th .......50th year reunion......They'll STILL be celebrating the fact that the guy tried to inject a little FUN into this solemn occasion. Life's too short.....and THIS is too unimportant ( in the BIG scheme of things ) to merit ANY sort of 'punishment' whatsoever. Maybe the members of the school board should pull the sticks from their asses, and remember what it was like to be young & free. I'm a Vietnam-era vet approaching my 60th year on this planet. How empty & repressed are YOUR lives, that you're going to allow yourselves to be 'offended' by this kid's antics? To the Classes of 2014 ( across this nation )....go forth & ENJOY your time on this Earth. March to the beat of your own drum. You're the ONLY one who will. No one else is going to do it for you.

According to news reports, strip-teasing football jock Quinton Murphy had a reputation for doing offbeat things around campus during his time at Jack Britt High School in the 910 long before his show stopping 2014 graduation ceremony stunt. Murphy, one of the graduating seniors at the school, brought the ceremony to a screeching halt when after hearing his name called from the podium, he stopped in the middle of the stage and tore off his cap and gown to reveal an extremely fit body that was showcased by the skimpiest of leopard print briefs-and nothing else (if you don’t count the socks and dress shoes).
Unrelated: Raunchy personal ad #910 in 1998’s “Black Men Do” from Catalina, which starts with a shower scene in which Richard Harrison is ordered to wash a back, paying special attention. The flick also has Zaire Masters, Gene Lamar , Mack Daniels, Andre Bolla and Bobby Blake, but is unrelated to Jake Samms demanding Park Wiley stop topping from the bottom in another flick from 2006. Note: Online bios say Blake’s first-ever industry scene was with Mack Daniels and Blake turned 30 years old on the day binoculars were used to scope the green sequins at Scope. The next day had queries as to who hadn't recovered yet.
Note: Mack Daniels was shown outside a Six-Eleven store in a 1993 flick with Bolla

I just have to laugh at the people who think high school is tough and that he should be punished. High School was a joke. Any idiot can graduate high school in America. Hats off to this kid for turning one of the most boring ceremonies he'll ever attend into the joke that it is.

Yea, shouldn't of done that, especially in this situation. Graduation is pretty formal. I graduated high school last year and they were really, REALLY, strict about how we acted. A stunt like this just ruins it for the next person, everyone is distracted by this guy while the next people are just shadowed by him. Just another example of "you should think before you act"

Don't sweat it dude. It was a funny prank and you graduated and you're off to college now. Let them pound their chests and try to use you as an example to intimidate others from possibly doing the same. Everybody knows there isn't anything they can really do about it.

So I'm apparently, according to some commenters, stupid. Why? Because I commend this guy. I went to this school. It was a prison. The whole county only cared about obedience and their outlook. It gets much worse, but I won't indulge in it now.
Who gives a flying crap? He didn't "steal" anyone's moment, this wasn't selfish, it was all in good fun. He made people laugh. He obviously wasn't stupid if he was graduating.
    Pfft.
I'm appalled at the people who agree with the punishment he's given.

One commenter below posted: "How the hell can they keep his take his diploma. He's already graduated, the diploma is in his hand, wtf?"
Ironically, I have a theory that explains it:
Perhaps anticipating the kind of prank skin-flashing, graduating football jock Quinton Murphy pulled off, school officials stationed two, 300 lb. bouncer dudes at the exits. Their job was to snatch the diploma of any graduate who had been flagged from the podium (for any reason--maybe even frowning instead of smiling while walking across the stage), then stamp it with a big red "VOID" symbol. The word "VOID" would be spelled out in ALL CAPS and circled with a diagonal line bisecting the circle. You know, like the standard "NO____________(fill in the blank)" signs instructing people what not to do in public.
Next year, Cumberland County Schools will expand this security measure beyond Jack Britt High School and in addition to the diploma cops with their VOID stamp, "NO STRIPPING" signs will be posted at the entrance to all graduation ceremonies. Additionally, graduating seniors and attendees will be reminded to limit their applause so that names called from the podium can be heard AND to keep their clothes on at ALL TIMES, written on the program in either BOLD or tiny print.
If the school system chooses fine print, it's a perfect entree to the "real world" for the graduates since everybody knows that you have to read the fine print before signing the dotted line in contracts and business transactions. Similarly, the VOID sticker could serve as an excellent reminder to the few people who still write paper checks, not to have theirs returned with a NSF stamped on it by their bank or financial institution.
At least Quinton Murphy won't be facing any fines for his strip down decision. But if he had, you know he could have (or maybe did have?) had more appreciative attendees stuff dollar bills in his leopard print briefs as he was escorted out by police officers. That would have offset the cost of the fine.
Graduation sure has changed since I walked across the stage exactly a quarter-century ago this month. I had heard of Murphy's Jack Britt High School a couple of times in Friday Night Football score reports, but not in many years. That's because I stopped watching local TV news, finding it useless and a worn staple of yesteryear.
The last time I was passing through Fayetteville, Quinton Murphy was little more than a toddler; NFL Minnesota Vikings RB Robert Smith was on CBS' "Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" and the nation waited on Florida to determine whether Albert Gore or George W. Bush would be our 43rd president.
    More serious notes:
Quinton Murphy said in an interview with Durham station WTVD that his stripping was a statement of protest meant to draw attention to the plight of U.S. military veterans and their medical treatment, like his uncle, who appreciated the gesture.
Whether or not you believe Murphy on his motivation for the stunt, at least one other potential benefit could result from his actions: a call to arms in the fight against obesity and associated diseases since a majority of Americans are either overweight or obese.
The guy's seemingly zero percent body fat physique is a walking advertisement for physical fitness. No one is surprised that a teenager who is active in sports has a body that is firm, hard, lean, and sculpted all over. But if most of the audience, Murphy’s fellow graduates, or dignitaries on the dais were to strip down for all to see, some of them might have been rounded up and detained in behavioral therapy facilities to get their health issues under control.
It’s common to denigrate graduation keynote speakers for delivering messages that are seldom remembered for more than a few minutes. It’s a safe bet that no one attending that ceremony will EVER forget Mr. Murphy’s colorful exit from high school. Maybe he has already inspired someone who needs to get off the couch and turn off the computer, to get active or go exercise. Going forward, the memory of the day has the potential to inspire people along those lines for years, even decades to come.

I agree with the school. He is aiming for the pro's trying to set himself apart with such a display takes away from the overall moment that the graduating class should share together. He made it about him and although this is ONLY high school, it sets the standard for his future behavior. I think we have enough pro athletes who are showing their ASS instead of being an ASSET. Take the diploma and make him do some substantial consequence duties..."The END of your journey is where you SHINE NOT SHOW YOUR BEHIND!", "If you can't do the time don't do the crime", ACTIONS have consequences we have got to show these kids that NO FEAR means that you had better be able to tolerate the cost for the actions you choose in seriousness or silliness...Pay up...THAT WAS YOUR ONLY MOMENT in my opinion...had he made another bad decision it could have cost someone their life and/or landed him in jail. STOP SUGAR COATING BAD BEHAVIOR. Did that bad decision cost him his future??? If I were looking for a team leader or team mate...HELL YES I want the next guy/gal in line. Had he put on a mask and run across the field at a football game, I would be fine with it....because that is NO ONE SPECIFICS moment, but this was EVERYONES hard earned moment....ON STAGE...even if he had streaked across the auditorium after words but to show his ASS on STAGE? O.L Plucker would have buried him under the glass hallway, black or white he would have got it BIG TIME!
