    The beam intensity is very important in these situations. I got myself a nebo 4x zoomable 10k lumen flashlight from academy for my EDC and I would genuinely be surprised if anyone could approach me with it on. I would be afraid to use the zoom function unless its a serious situation as it may actually blind someone for a while. I can easily aim it while pulling out another device that may be more serious like pepper spray or a stun gun. It buys enough time to give a huge advantage. So go for a high lumen light if you can and get a focus lens that can bring the beam to a more intense point.

    And may I add, for life and death situation a flashlight can be lethal. 2-3 strikes in side of the head, back of the head, or nape where the spinal cord extends can shut an assailant down.

      Exactly! Just that this one has a bright light for extra leverage. Thanks for your comment!

    Ive shined a 1200 lumen Olight at myself in a dark parking lot and I don't think that it would necessarily stop an attacker. That said its good to see what the attacker is holding and for that reason I use it when im in dark areas. If you are a women or a rather weak man (me) then it would be very hard to use a light as a punching device. For that reason I highly recommend using something like pepper spray or a gun because the force is not dependent on your strength.

    Hi man, Just found your channel today, and I think you are very underrated. Maybe people don't understand the importance yet. So keep up the good work.
    I've come across stories, and seen videos of motorcycle tourers being threatened by bright lights and knives, etc on highways... They're have been cases where they were robbed of everything and had to walk for many kilometers in the night.
    So, being a motorcycle enthusiast, I really wanted to know how to best prepare for a long ride. So it would be awesome if you could make a video about this... I'm sure a lot of other motorists would want it too.
    Thanks
    And all the best, and I love your work!

      Thanks for the comment man! This channel has been growing so slow that I wonder if it will ever make it 😌. But comments like these keep me going.
      About motorcycle touring, it’s best to prepare a get home bag/kit that contains life saving essentials like water filters, emergency blankets, fire starters, etc. You should also carry a concealed wallet/Fanny pack for all your money and cards. I have a video on this. Please watch.
      In your pants you can carry a powerful flashlight, a folding knife. Carry 2 pepper sprays in a belt molle pouch attached to your belt on your side. I say 2 because you can never have enough OC spray. You can take care of large Gangs and even wild animals with this non lethal weapon.
      Above all, train everyday to be fearless. Train to fight. Without training of your body or mind, none of the above will help. People become wusses when it comes to real life situations.

       @The Everyday Man Hm, even I don't understand why this channel is growing so slow. Maybe it's because most people in India can't relate to the idea, and they think it's being overly paranoid...
      Perhaps you could make more videos like the 'prepper's rant', explaining the philosophy behind all this... and explain how it doesn't make you paranoid, but rather gives you a sense of confidence and peace of mind to be prepared - at least that's what resonates with me.
      Maybe you could talk to more people about there opinions, and perhaps feature those conversations and debates on your channel.
      And even few hundred people are a lot, if you just think about it... like we've had social media and all only in the last few decades... Before that communities were small, but still equally if not more fun.
      So yeah, don't let the numbers discourage you. We, although few, love your work, plus it's super important in modern times, so yeah keep going!

    I'm a big proponent of using a flashlight for self protection. And for the basis on how blinding the light is, is not with lumens, it is about the candela, the beam intensity. At least 25k candela and above is really blinding even during daylight while 25k candela below is not that blinding but it is irritating in the eyes. Lumen to candela ratio is a factor if you're into lumens than candela.

    Bruh.. so glad I found your content on self defence 👍. I wanted something specific for Indian audience, that takes into account our experiences, access to self defence products in India, our laws etc. Thanks for this!
    Could you also create some content around home security (the kind where you don't have to shell out a ton of money on smart devices). Apparently most intruders just cut electricity connection from outside, disabling the smart devices. Are there ways around it?
    Thanks again for all the effort you put into these videos!

      @@TheEverydayManChannel what my fear is that they might not take it(flashing light) as a threat and be enraged to attack further. I want it not to escalate further in any manner. Or maybe I'm just thinking too much right now without actually being in the situation

      @@Amkjmi99 your fear is genuine. But know this, every weapon can agitate your opponent. That’s why it’s important to learn to use them. You shouldn’t be randomly flashing the light at someone trying to attack you.it is to be used as a deterrent. Use your words at the same time which is more powerful than any physical weapon. But if the aggressor is still intending to attack and you need to fight, you have have a solid tool in your hand.

    Just ran across this video today! Great lesson. I am traveling internationally this summer and was worried about bringing a tactical flashlight in my carry on due to TSA taking it away. Have you had any issues with TSA when you have travelled to the US?

    • @TheEverydayManChannel
      @TheEverydayManChannel  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment! You shouldn’t have any issues with the flashlight in your carry on as long as it doesn’t have an obviously tactical bezel.

    Nice demo man! You should do more videos on how you can defend yourself in different situations. For example, while riding home late night or when at a lonely atm...
    Btw what are your thoughts on knuckle dusters?

      I’m working on such content. In fact, I was just making a video on self defense in a car hijack situation.
      Knuckle dusters are fantastic for those trained in martial arts combat. Not for the regular person.

    Would the pant clip not injure your hand if you use the flashlight to hit someone, since you’ll be gripping it hard? I remember hearing on some UA-cam video that if you intend to carry a pen for self defence, it should be one with a removable cap for this reason.
    And how often does the flashlight battery need to be charged, let’s say if it is seldom used.

    • @TheEverydayManChannel
      @TheEverydayManChannel  2 роки тому +2

      Absolutely not. The clip doesn’t get in the way at all even with a tight grip. I’ve practiced hard with the clip on and never had any issue.
      Regarding charging, I charge once in 3 months with moderate use. You can charge once in 6 months with minimal usage. It also depends on the light output and the battery health.
