Becoming a Marine Officer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2015
- The path to becoming an officer in the Marine Corps begins with your Officer Selection Officer (OSO). An OSO's duty is to identify worthy officer candidates who will become capable of commanding and of leading Marines to win our Nation’s battles. Once you have made the commitment to become an officer, your OSO will guide your physical training regimen and otherwise prepare you for the challenge of becoming a leader of Marines.

About the United States Marine Corps:
The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

My OSO recruited me and I never saw him again. I went to and graduated from OCS in 1982. I thank him for giving me the opportunity. He was not there to babysit me.
Lol "yes PFC" hahaha i needed a good laugh
andrewsails1371 I was wondering if they said yes PFC haha.
Plot twist, the PFC is actually a ssgt drill instructor there who was busted down mid cycle
For you young Men and Women, you will not regret a decision to serve your Country as a Marine Officer. I retired as an Officer, and I miss it dearly. Semper Fi!
Going into a marine corps officer office this week. Any advice? I got my BA
First bit of advice, lose that “Captain” tile unless you are one (I.e. an actual airline Captain). Second, capitalize Marine Corps.
@@MrBumpersonI graduate with my BA in June. So I plan to walk into a Marine Officer Office too. Tell me, how did everything work out?

Can you join ocs after you graduate in us marine boot camp?
Hello I'm a 27 year old E3 Active Duty Marine, should I do this? What does it take for an enlisted Marine to become an officer?
I’m joining soon as I can, for the experience in the civilian world, and opportunity to be one. It really is as simple as “Where do you want to be during and after.” My brother served Navy for four years and is very well prepared working at a defense contractor. Me? I haven’t broken 50k yet and I’m 28. So where you want to be is what you should focus on.
Can I serve here for 8 years and get honorably discharged? Been googling this for whole day, haven't found anything...
Iam prior enlisted I have been out for 4 years now currently a junior in college, what are my chances of getting in as a prior being for that long ?
A recruiter would be the best person to answer your question. If you do not have a local recruiter, you can contact one by filling out this form (usmarin.es/ezk1Xs).
Do marines pilots also have to do this
What college should I take to become an enlisted Marine? I live in Oregon.

Sir I have a question.
Im 20 y/o filipino and i do have my green card. Im a 3rd year Nursing student but unfortunately i didnt have an opportunity to finish my course in here.
Am i still eligible? Please answer my question because I really want to become a Marine.
Hey how'd it go man? I can see you're a Marine. Did you enlist or commission?
@@bannaxe7338 I enlisted. The requirement is actually a bachelors degree and you actually need to finish it in order to go on officer route.
@@matty_kise are you planning on switching over to officer once you get the opportunity or do you think you’ll stay as enlisted.
So, if I have a bachelor's in criminal justice and decided I want to become an officer. Can I go straight to officer training or do I have to go through the four years then training? I believe I already know the answer but I wanna make sure
If you have a 4 year degree, all you have to do is go find an OSO and talk to them. Get a good PFT and they can send your paperwork through pretty quick if you have no extenuating medical problems.
You can attend training during the summer in two 6 week sessions while you're at college or can get your degree and go through straight in 10 weeks.
What are some requirements for getting into an officer school straight after high School?

if you want to get into an officer you need to go college and earn 4 year degree
Can a 26 year old still get commissioned as an officer?
You must be between 17-29 years old to enlist. Some waivers are available; a Marine Recruiter or Officer Selection Officer is the best person to determine if your circumstances warrant a special waiver.
Yes, I think the maximum age limit before you need a waiver is 29.
Age can be waived up to 35.
can you join if you were not born here and dont have a green card?
Requirements include: possessing a Permanent Resident Visa (green card) and residency. This page is managed by the Marine Corps Recruiting Command. For more information about acquiring a Permanent Resident Visa please visit
