    Good idea to use the thinner ply on the base so you gave plenty of scope for the plunge depth on the router. 👍

      Yes it gives you more options that way.

    Hi Tomaz,
    Great video for dado jig.
    How wide did you cut the plywood supports pieces?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  4 місяці тому

      The front and back ones? The thicker ones? If so they are 4.5cm wide

    Hi Tomasz, An excellent video on the groove and dado router jig. I will probably use your approach to make my own jig.👍

    I've seen this type of jig many times, but yours is a nice and simple implementation ... I'd add a positive stop for the router at one end so that you can do stopped grooves just by clamping the jig at the relevant point on the item being cut👍
    Referring to the title, I'm glad you didn't show the jig that didn't work 🤣

      I wanted to actually add that feature with stops to this jig but in the end I keep it as simple as possible.

    Great demo Tomasz. I have had a mental block for a long time as to how you clamp everything down on this jig but you have given me some solutions, ie the sacrificial board and the one handed clamp. This is the sort of jig that is a lot easier to use when you have an MFT. A couple of holes in the sacirificial board and then you could use the MFT holes to keep it from shifting. Thanks for the vid.

    Hi Tomasz, have you considered adding a diy mft style hinge (like a tracksaw hinge similar to Peter Millards plywood version) to your jig and fixing it to the back of your bench so that you can just hinge it back against the wall out of the way? The hinge would allow accommodating different thicknesses of stock to groove. Just an idea!

      That's a good idea actually. I will be thinking of similar solutions for my new workbench. I got it planned out already but I find myself adding and changing things constantly 😅

    Have you decided to keep your brother's Metabao table saw in preference to the Evolution Rage 5S?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  6 місяців тому

      Oh that will depend on my brother when/if he wants it back. I'll have some videos on it soon as I had some solid experience with it now.
