I love my town. They put up sidewalks where you were passing by and fixed up the streets and put pedestrian signs and all. They even installed new lights this year. They are currently working on Galvez stadium.
San Ignacio is not as small as most people think it is. Just go up on that hill where there is a restaurant with a swimming pool below, Cahal Pech. Especially at night. You can see lights for miles in every direction. The combined Santa Elena and its' sister town San Ignacio spreads out for miles.
On my way to San Ignacio, on the Western Highway,there is a community that has a wall built around it with gates. Supposedly, this was Chinatown, and the residents there were naturally all Chinese. The houses all looked the same ,at least from the highway. This is something similar to Spanish Town, for the Mennonites, but without walls or gates.

we have not had a problem down there ever but then we dont go to places where tourists should not go and we know people there .. so we dont worry about it .. if you are concerned go somewhere else
one way street-but no stop sign-ha ha-who is running that town ? how terrible-but its the reality -a country with millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$ of OIL revenue( there is oil in belize) but the oil is shared between politicians/family members-/foreign investors.but when one has never gotten out of belize-it is normal.

Have you ever been robbed there? I heard that the native negros have made it too high risk for tourists to consider going there. What is your opinion?
