1.5 hour long OSFirstTimer video? Oh this is gonna be amazing...
Haha, I generally avoid long videos. I tried to get this to fit in less than an hour but I failed, too much content in this. The VR section was almost it's own video :P
@@OsFirstTimer Personally I prefer the longer videos, though I know most don't. And yeah, too much stuff packed in here if it was under an hour it would be all over the place. The VR section was pretty good, I would love to see more VR content
@@OsFirstTimer I think the longer videos are better, I can put them in the background while playing a video game and I don't have to swap to another video while playing
I Usually don't like long videos (Since if feels like your watch an un edited version) but, this one was actually entertaining 😀
@@minix07 Yes exactly.
I love the story of kidpix. It was created by Craig Hickman for his son Ben. His son, who was 3, wanted to draw on a computer and his dad opened MacPaint but his son struggled to use it. So his dad was inspired to make KidPix for his son. Eventually he was convinced to send it of to a software developer. He didn't think it would be accepted but it was and its since had 5 versions.
Pretty nice inspiration story
Hey guys, This video was originally premiered, you can watch the chat replay if you are interested to see what people said while watching this Live :)
Anyway, let me know if you are interested in more VR content in future as people in the chat seemed to like the idea of more VR content. I think some short 20 minute VR episodes showcasing Diana in an app or game might be cool? Would you be interesting in VR software and games or JUST non-game vr content?
P.S I'd focus more on PC VR rather than Native Quest 2 Software as I can film it at a higher resolution ;)
Minecraft
Heyyo, where is that Ugrading ME to 10 video?
If she’s trying VR games, I’d like to see her try that Job simulator game they made
If she's gonna try vr games how about.. Cooking simulator.. It's one of my favorite vr games..
What was the model of Diana's new laptop? It looks fast
Kid Pixs is so nostalgic for me. I remember using it in kindergarten.
i enjoy this "try out software through history" concept. yourself, and your parents make it as entertaining as it is educational.
Generally we randomize it and try one random os or program per video, but in this one I decided to have a little evolution displayed for a change from the usual videos :)
This is the problem with living on the other side of the world to you (I'm in the UK), this video premieres at midnight 😭
same!!
Same I guess it’s a late night for me
I might fall asleep watching it 🤣
Early night for me, only 8 pm lol.
I live near Australia so it premieres on around 7PM :)
why isn’t this channel getting millions of views a month anymore? it’s so sad. i’ve been a fan of this channel and an active watcher for years and i don’t think it’s gotten dull at all. more people deserve this content 💔
it’s great seeing you still make content, phillip
Thanks, I feel interested has dropped off as the original idea of the channel eventually got a little stale. Right now the challenge is to keep the OSFirstTimer video feel going while exploring new ideas. I feel VR may be a good addition to this channel, but it shouldn't overtake it.
@@OsFirstTimer I think it's because you left for a year
This was such an interesting an entertaining video. Thanks for the great content as usual, you guys!
No problem Windows on Windows! It was great to have you live with us :)
Another awesome video! It’s really interesting to watch the evolution of computer software, it’s probably one of my favorite things about this channel! ❤️
Love your channel and love how your mum was programming in Logo ... must have been the first programming language I've ever came in contact with. So cool to see all of you trying out all of these different things. I always get such a happy, cozy warm and fuzzy feeling when watching your videos. Makes me feel like i'm a little part of the family :) Keep up the great work !
Name a more iconic duo than Diana and her drawing a sandy beach
Wow. This channel looks amazing. I can't believe I never found it before! It's right up my alley.
You've gained a subscriber mate keep up the good work!
Thanks for joining us :) Have fun watching our videos :)
@@OsFirstTimer I certainly will
At first, I accidentally misread the title as "Mum and dad try pirating software through history."
Quite insightful seeing painting software through the years.
yea, really shows how far we have come, yet how far we still have to go!
Jeez, Kidpix? Damn, I haven't heard that name since 2010 back when I was in primary school! I used to love that program when I was little.
I love this channel. It's so informative but also so funny. And yes, more VR please!
I'm so glad this guy still uploads.
The evolution of painting software is quite impressive. I find it very interesting and entertaining how all these programs are chronologically showcased here in this video and Ben and Diana try them out for the first time (which is what makes this channel unique in the first place). WIth time, the resulting drawings from the programs definitely get better + the programs get even more user-friendly, which is nicely demonstrated here in this video - from a text-based program, to painting with a touch-screen! The VR-headset drawing app may have needed a little more to get used to it than Fresh Paint, for example, but it definitely had so many features and looked very futuristic.
Also, you have a very cute dog, by the way! :D Will love to see it draw on Fresh Paint with its paws, haha. :)
Edit:
Who won each drawing round, based solely on my opinion:
1. Diana - She didn't have it fully completed, but it looked more like a tree to me. Ben was pretty close to finishing it, though!
2. Diana - That black background in the sky didn't really match up, but I understand that was an accident, and other than that, I think the colors in her image were more fitting.
3. Diana - The background was perfectly on-spot and the colors once again were harmonic.
4. Diana - Her drawing looked more like what it's meant to be. It's simple and has the same good points I mentioned for the 3-rd painting.
5. Ben - While his picture was more simple and not fully coloured (he should have done the background first, once again :D), in my opinion, those white spots on Diana's picture weren't really fitting. It's almost a tie though. :)
Diana seemed to have a lot of fun with the VR, makes me want to try it out too!
This is one of your best videos I really enjoyed and laughed at the Vr bit 🤣
this seemed more like a movie than a youtube video, great content as always
Either that or a super long episode of a gameshow :P
I'm aware how late I am to this video, but it was great as always! I think Diana had the best paintings and her beach could easily become a masterpiece.
Ben: Good at skies
Diana: Good at Painting
I think i might have used logo one time, since i remember my dad showing me this website where there was this thing with a turtle in the middle and a box under it where you put in commands to make the turtle do stuff.
Thanks for the great video i watched up to Diana's turn in fresh paint before my internet went out for the night but i finished it today
That was awesome! And I caught the premiere! 👍
We used Logo at my school! ❤ keep up the good work
hahaha wow you finally got a vr headset. can't wait to see some videos with that!
Great Video guys
43:40 Shaky cam is back 😂
This looks like it's gonna be a very fun video
Edit: it was
i agree
Yooo! I really want to see more VR videos :D
mission accomplished
The way she used the VR Brushes, so genuine
Omg this video is so good holy ur parents are so funny lol your work is amazing and keep up the good work 😄
I had to use that version of kid pix in 2013 when I went to the computer lab.
Might have even been later.
It was awesome.
I think it shaped my appreciation for the 90s/2000s
The 2004 version looked really similar too so I have have been that? I played with it in primary school too but I still don't know if it was version 3 or version 4 I played with.
That was a cool video. I'd call the drawing contest a draw!
Cannot wait 😀
it sounds fun!!
All of your drawings are nice keep it up I love It
Honestly, an osfirsttimer podcast would be hella entertaining.
But how would you know what was happening, unless it’s about oses and there are no tasks?
Now I think it would work. Like a recap.
Kid pix really just put me through a wave of nostalgia
This will be good! waiting on stream
54:40 - it’s a little weird but you can actually force the quest to use specific resolutions and bitrates by using an app called side quest and using it to run ADB commands
Diana's face when she saw Kid Pix was pretty funny
Lol 😂😂😂
What laptop did Diana draw On ?
Cause IT looks realy nice with the touchscreen
Cheres guys
Great Video, Will you do The Windows through time thing?
Wow the VR paint is great.
Yea, I'm hoping it will get some more attention from the video, it's so underrated right now.
18:52 I like Diana's face😁😁😁
I USED KID PIX IN 2012 WHEN I WAS 4.. (we had a really old computer)
That program was so nostalgic.
love it
amazing!!!!!!
I LOVE IT…! nice.
I remember playing fresh paint on my dads laptop... good times
Great stuff
Thanks all.
This Man Deserves 1k Likes And 5k Views Also I Like Drawing Alot!!!
Hey Osfirsttimer I just called you today and you are a really nice guy and I love your videos!!!!
Oh hi! Nice job with your channel! Let's hope your sub count continues to rise even further! :)
@@OsFirstTimer thanks very much!!!!
18:10 the palm tree looks like a spider lol
Do you guys ever plan on trying macOS Monterey? I’d recommend hackintoshing with olarila or something if you do and using open core. It makes the os much smoother if you use supported hardware.
You should do a episode with the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil on apps like Procreate and adobe fresco and adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator and art studio pro and affinity photo and nomad and LumaFusion maybe you could do a comparison video series with the desktop apps vs the iPad apps for all the the apps i mentioned I think it could be a good series of video to do with your mum and it would be easy to film the iPad screen using the build in screen recording feature in iPados 15 and it’s something a bit different I really enjoy your video btw
Hey! Can you make a playlist with all of the awesome music that you use in your videos? there is some really good music in the videos you make that I would like to listen to aswell.
Philip you are the best
Wow, Dazzle Draw!
Wow, you’re here, I watched you before you were verified!
@@AtrixRBX Thanks!
I have an idea. How about the fresh paint developers share some code with the Painting VR developers (of course rewritten to make it work in the vr engine or smth) and make the vr version more realistic?
Will there be a review of Diana's new laptop and/or your new VR headset?
Your dog is just SOOOOOOOOO cute
@OSFirstTimer , how come Diana has a new laptop? Did the old Lenovo break like it did the first time? However, great video! :) I watched this when it was Premiered but decided to watch it again
What apple II emulator are you using for dazzle draw? It does an amazing job emulating the video artifacts.
24:48 is my favorite
yes
Where did you get a hold of MIT Logo? I found some programs that remake MIT Logo, but you have the original one running on an apple II emulator.
I wonder if diana will be able to draw better in vr or just using the mouse
VR by far ;)
what laptop is that? you should do a review on it :) i'm sure we'd all be interested!
YESSS
The fresh paint section reminds me of og shaky camera osfirsttimer
I think diana won all of them, even though ben is very artistic!
Drawing in VR can be great as it like in real life but in a virtual world.
as an artist a want to use all of those
There are so many painting softwares, yet the only one I can use comfortably is Microsoft paint xD
I love y'all
cool
I remember the CorelDraw paint program from back in the 1990s
Hi
When is the OSFT Archive coming back?
I am not gonna go to sleep so i can see this vid
Same 👍🏽
@lachlanrocksman isn't worth is since the video premieres at 1am for me
Is diana going to try different games of today I like seeing her play games
i like the vr one and it has a browser so u can refrens stuff if its free i might get i cuz i have a quest 2
Wonderful video but-
why does Diana look so short in the thumbnail?
I wanna try the arrow/command drawing thing. i wanna uhhh. umm. laugh
Hwat about Tux paint or Krita?
What about Krita? We would like a video about it.
What was the music in the first 20 seconds of the video?
You guys should try out zeqOS Chabazite
24:05 kid pix
What ever happened to the previous VR headset you unboxed in 2014?
Sold that just before we moved to Tasmania to some guy who was collecting early VR headsets. An odd thing to collect but he was really happy with the condition of it (even though it flew off Diana's head once during it's life).
@@OsFirstTimer hahaha I remember that, glad to see it's in the hands of someone who wants it.
Ah yes, pixel paint.
You guys should try "Windows Mobile 6.5"
43:54 she paints the ukraine flag
My emulator seems to support backspace
No Tux paint?
How did you get the programs ?
1st point to ben
2nd point to diana
3rd point to diana
4th point to diana
5th point to ben
So in my opinion diana is the best
