Grammy is AWESOME she is my favourite veggie person and PLEASE PLEASE spend as much time with her as you can because one day hopefully in the far far future you will wish you had, I would love to have another chance to spend more time with my Grammy. Pam here…I am a retired wedding florist. Cut your stems as LONG as you can from the garden. You can strip off the lowest leaves fast with you your hand pulling down the stem. Don’t put any leaves below the waterline. Sun the stem end on angle to alllow the most surface area to pull up water. Keeping your blooms in the fridge will help them last longer in the market. Longer stems allow your customers to be able to make taller larger bouquets. !
Loved this weeks video. I loved walking the farm. I loved the perfect sunflowers. I loved the store. I just wish I lived closer and could include your store in my shopping.

Basically all the same business (I know the stable is a separate business, but it's attached to the market and Joel often helps in the veggie boy fields) and all the same family, but shown from totally different perspectives makes it feel like we are behind the scenes with you

One day stocking shelves, the next husking bushels of corn into prepped packages. Even got use a pineapple corer to package pineapple. We had similar scales that would print labels with prices and weights. I think you all have the benefit of having others around to talk to. I was fortunately able to play music while I worked, but otherwise it was just me in the produce room.

Outside of St. Louis, there are Acres of Sunflowers in a Nature Preserve Area and people driving through the Area stop by and take a Lot of pictures. Beautiful. 👍
We all knew that you ladies work hard keeping up with the store and helping customers it's just nice to get the ladies point of view.x God Bless you and keep up the good work. By the way everyone here were I live especially the kids all call me either grandpa or Papa it's a lot easier for them to say .I have 30 kid's here that all consider me to be their grandpa. I have a movie night on Friday night for them every week I fix popcorn popcyles and I throw down some old blankets on the ground and I play movies like they are at a old drive in theater they love it . There is absolutely nothing here for them to do so I do that to fight off boredom. I have cook outs for the parents and kids throughout the summer they run in and out of my house like they own it they pretty much do lol. I've been doing this for ten years now I will continue to do so as long as my health allows me to. I wish you and Daniel lived closer I would love to include you in our wonderful neighborhood. We all look out after each other and we all protect our kids. We have forgotten about loving our neighbors we intend on bringing back what God told us to do.
easy fix for flowers that kinda fall over is to use a rubber band around the stems after you arrange them in your hand like a bouquet. Love all you guys!

You need to cut them longer for longer life while in the store, Been a florist for more than 30 years. The longer the stem until arranged the better. and a fresh cut when ever they are out of water for more than a minute or so. The are very beautiful.
When cutting fresh flowers, do so in a bucket/sink/bowl of water on an angle. The first thing flowers want to do when their stems are cut is suck in water. Fill a vase about 1/2 -.3/4 full with fresh water with 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Repeat this process every four or five days. This process extends the life of fresh flowers by at least a week. When I get fresh flowers for Mother's Day, I follow this process and they last almost one month. Great video. I did not know sunflowers were planted on the farm. Yay! See you in the next one.

Thanks for showing a Veggie Girls perspective. Can you add some back in the kitchen store to see what Gramny is making/canning too? How do you prepare enough meals to feed large numbers of hungry veggie boys?
I'd love to know what you were cooking with the zucchini! Our plants just started producing and after sneaking zucchini into almost every meal for the last couple weeks, I'm trying to figure out what else I can do with the extras (besides giving bagfuls of them to our neighbor who likes to make zucchini bread)!
Zucchini relish is great, also just shred some and freeze in amounts you'll use in a recipe and sneak it into a lot of stuff all winter, may have to drain some liquid. Also baked stuffed zucchini is great and ratatouille.
I agree . There zucchini bread video was good. lol I've been making zucchini muffins, zucchini fritters, using them in stuffed peppers. I found some videos on zucchini soup, zucchini tacos, zucchini pancakes savory and sweet, etc.

While they aren't a "guy thing " have you considered planting little patches of flowers through scatter sowing a row's width and 4' long every so often in some of your rows? Some quick and easy growers on longer stems like zinnia and cosmos?
