When a Singer makes you feel happy and makes you feel sad over decades like Neil does, he deserved to become a part of your life. Thank you Mister Diamond. Greetings from Germany
Hey I'm 82 same age as Neil and have always loved his version of this great song. Have to say that to this day I still really don't know love or life at all but I'll keep trying. Thanks Neil.
I don't know why this song makes me cry every time.....esp with my favorite singer ever, Mr Diamond singing it. Longing for and missing the old days gone by I guess 😢
I saw Neil Diamond when I was a young boy with my mom back in the 80s. My mom has passed on not long ago but listening to Neil brings her closer to my heart.
I won two tickets to see Neil in the early 90's from a radio station, and it was 100 times more than I ever expected. Knew every song and all done so well.
What a beautiful song from my favourite singer of all time. Looking at life from both sides is as it should be between 2 people who love each other. I guess that is what Neil was saying. Thankyou Neil. Keep singing these beautiful songs.
Beautifully sung by my all time favourite singer at the last period of his career before retiring due to parkinson disease. So emotional and well performed.
. . . I was blessed to see Neil in concert here in the U.K. between 25.06.77 at The London Palladium to 03.10.17 at The Hydro in Glasgow . And a mere 23 other times in between ; Woburn Abbey in '77 and '05 , Earl's Court in '84 , Wembley Arena in '89 and '99 , Sheffield Arena in '92 , Newcastle Arena in '96 , '99 and '02 Hampden Park in Glasgow in '08 and '11 and the aforementioned Hydro in Glasgow in '14 and "17. Last but perhaps THE most extra - special , his last two of five concerts (very sadly for ever) at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in August '12 , celebrating the 40th anniversary of ' HOT AUGUST NIGHT '. A 37 year dream and wait and hope ... come true. Thanks to 'I.G.' in London for ALL your help over the '99 to '17' years with those best in-the -house seats . He and his group are almost all in the 250 to 400 N.D. concert attendance echelon. Quite simply put ... " These were the best years of our lives "- " The very best years of our lives " to quote Neil himself.
. . . The morning after - and I awoke with a start ... 'Birmingham N.E.C. in '84 (3 concerts) and '89 ; very sadly indeed this was my beloved mum's last concert with Neil after her first at Earl's Court in London on June 28 '84. I so vividly recall bringing 'HOT AUGUST NIGHT' home as my first LP on 7 June '75 and she looked at that magnificent, resplendent picture of Neil with that then mass of hair and she sort of scowled in a disapproving way (!) How very little did we both know just how very much she would come to love Neil. I mean r e a l l y l o v e Neil . Like her two son's. That album was played before my leaving for school and often were the times that I returned to her listening to it herself. And 'Serenade' and 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull ' et al . Life changing word's&music. After our there-and-back (a 500 mile round trip) to The N.E. C. on 12.11.89 , Neil was so stupendously exhilarating that she could hardly speak the next day ! So in awe of his voice , incomparable style - not forgetting the " Greatest Band in the World " and crew !.. And Manchester Arena in '02 and '11 . THANK YOU , Neil ... You did indeed give " SO VERY MUCH OF YOURSELF " and we can never repay you . A l l b e w e l l .
Forever young our awesome Neil, never stop singing and composing, waiting to hear so many more beautiful songs❤️ Marilyn McGann Levey South Africa 🌍💚☘️💚
Thank you for sharing this. Neil's voice always helps calm my troubled heart. And I don't have a steady hand either! Recording live in concert is a pain!
The very first time I ever heard this song was on Neil's Live at the Troubadour album. And I loved it! I actually thought that it was his song . He was that great singing it. I also love his version of Chelsea Morning, another song I thought was his.
Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (117 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from the Neil Diamond Fan Club because I had this listed on their site.Never Excuse of Neil Diamond ☹️🎹' Inbox x
A Great tribute to Joni Mitchell by Neil Diamonds. Beautiful simply beautiful. Thank you for sharing, your work/efforts is much appreciated. 🙂Have a nice day. Stay healthy everyone.
2017. In 2018 he announced that he has Parkinson’s. You can see it in his posture and slight puffiness and hear it in his voice. Makes me so sad. People have to get old, but to have grapple with a disease like Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s or some other disease is a bit much. Neil is incredible ❤
Because if you live long enough Everyone you once new are long gone.Friends, family folks you’ve known all your life. They just slowly disappear before your eyes.
É encantador ouvir o Neil ! Saber de sua história e do respeito pela música sempre bem executada e pelos fãs...faz dele uma divindade nessa arte ! I love him forever!!!❤❤
He actually recorded this song a few decades ago. Not sure which album it originally appeared in, but it was one of the tracks on his compilation album Love Songs
Neil had a somewhat famous drug bust back in the 70s. It got expunged from his record. He was a big pot head. Just listen to Crunchy Granola Suite (it isn't about cereal). I still think that damned Barry Manilow set him up on that drug bust.
@@grubbinator Yeah..it was 1976...Police found an ounce of weed in his home...and Neil got a community service order in court. You only have to watch Australia tour, "Play Me" to see he was Stoned out of his gourd onstage. ..Crunchy Granola Suite.."Never knowing, what you're growing, when you're growing your own weed! ..Last line..2nd verse.
neil how are you Can I ask you what you can drink to get your voice box right again? I would like to sing again just to myself when you sing but something has gone wrong with my vocal cords. Suspect that trauma must have a lot to do with it. Would like to know about voice exercises and probably also medication to get the vocal cords back in order. Is there a miracle??🤣😘

Written by another musical genius, Joni Mitchell. I hope someone shows this to her.
mysticmaverick1 I’m sure she already knows and appreciates Neil for this, from one singer-songwriter to another. They’re from the same era.
They are good friends and appeared together on the Band's farewell concert 'The Last Waltz' famously filmed by Martin Scorsese.

Wonderful Song. Thank you. But that's Hamburg, not Munich.
Nope, it was really Munich ;-) The only time my seat was on the side riser
Ok, but Munich was 21 Sept. and Hamburg was 26 Sept. And look at the shirt at the other videos.
OMG, you are totally correct! It was Hamburg 26th! I will update. I'm a scatterbrain! ;-)
