Right now, you have the best Offroad Chanel. It's a fresh breeze with a new spin on old well approved topic. The laid back chat, combined with food and interviews. Great work, keep it up as you do.
Sorry about the re-upload. The previous version was missing the numbers and just had random sound effects throughout (forgot to make it all visible before I rendered it and uploaded). Hopefully this one works ok!
Great video mate. Always good to carry a set of gauntlets mate. First thing you learn is the little handle isn’t long enough to escape the heat when trying to remove from the fire. 👌🤣🔥
I've always loved the look of those cleavers since I've seen one on AlmazanKitchen channel. One of the best additions to my cooking gear would be a typical welders type wire brush. Instead of getting the tip and edge of a knife to scrape and cut away the crust off a jaffle in a jaffle iron, go it with a wire brush. It gets right in there and cleans the edges of the iron for way easier extraction of the jaffle.
My request is more episodes with you wifey. She is a hoot! The two of you are so funny and say some clever things that keep the ball rolling. Definetely need to bring her along on some off road adventures as well. I am sure the commentary will be good from her.
I just stumbled across this video while browsing camp cooking videos and I thought fire to fork sounded familiar. And the I remembered and It’s literally your book that I purchased from Aussie disposals today!🤣
Another great video. Always handy to hear people what to pack lists . The wife hates them tho because I'm then out shopping for new things great work Harry
Great video. Best and worst time for cooking at camp. Me, best time is fall when leaves are turning and cooler weather coming in. Worst is when its 100+ degrees and no breeze.
Heya Harry, bought a Oz Braai grill basked on your recommendation on how much you loved them from a previous video. It arrived today and I can't wait to fire the Weber Kettle up tomorrow night to christen it before I get a chance to go bush and use a campfire under it.
I have recently bought an Ozbraii, the name we called them when I was growing up was a grid iron. Slightly different design in that it is not a basket but it was good heavy duty wire and is still going strong today. It's been in the family for over 50 years.
Gotta say I was cracking a grin when you said you take a billy, mine looks quite different hahah. Love the videos mate, wouldn't mind seeing your take on some more international dishes like an osso buco or lamb tagine!
Great vid mate. I have a Biji Barbi... had it for around 25 or so years. Folding legs but I haven’t had any drama in that time. Love my jaffle iron and camp oven as well... would have had a lot more burns if I didn’t have my welding gloves!! Good work. Keep them coming!! Cheers
Thanks for the recommendation on camp ovens. My Aussie spun Steele one arrived today from snowys and can’t wait to try it out. Definitely solidly made and made in Australia is a big plus👍
I can start a fire with a spark and can properly pronounce "mise en place", but for the life of me I can't put the damn two things together! Would love a video on how you actually prepare the fire for cooking! How you manage the coals over time, what type of fire for what foods, how much ahead of time to prepare the fire etc. Cheers from Canada.
That’s a great idea Anthony. You do need a lot of time before cooking easily an hour mate to start getting coals especially if your using sauces. Or else you burn them 😂😂
I cant attest the Frontrunner grill plate is awesome, as is being able to store it on your spare tyre. Very disappointed to hear they've moved to aluminium legs. That makes no sense for a campfire cooking grill. Great vid again, Harry, love your work.
Harry, you requested suggestions for topics? Here goes: 1. Mozzie/midge/sandfly repellents and treatments. 2. How to keep fire blackened cooking gear clean/how to prevent carbon marks during storage. 3. Fire based hot water solutions. 4. Using bags to extend life of produce - such as Stay Fresh, Fresh & Crisp or Peak Fresh bags. Cheers, bloke.
No need to worry about the knife sharpener, as long as your car has windows that go down, you're good to go. Use the top/spine of the window and run your blades along it, do it dry, and then do it wet if need be for a finer finish.
Thanks for all your tips. I’ve never tried a camp oven. I’ve ordered a Bedourie and am waiting for the Ozbraai to be back in stock. Looking forward to trying out some of these meals.
Good stuff Harry the only thing we haven’t got is a bloody wire brush we use the Bunnings foldable tables and pot rivet aluminium plate to the top of them works awesome and cheap won’t mention where I get the aluminium from ha ha ha ha loving the new addition to the back of the tow Bar🤠🍺🇦🇺🤙
Great to see what you take away mate. Can’t wait for our Ozbraai to show up, any day now. And I’m considering swapping out our camp oven (cast iron) for the spin steel version, looks much better. We use the camp oven for such a variety of cook ups.
Nice one mate, here in the UK struggle to get some of the items, that wok is just out stock everywhere, particularly with the folding handle. Came from Portugal and we cook all the time in charcoal but not yet ventured to the Dutch oven cooking but been watching all you videos will do it soon. Oh yes more videos of all your gear you use. 👍🇵🇹
Love your vids mate! Some constructive criticism: Your lens is focus breathing. When you're standing in the 1 spot like next to your car, try it on manual focus, it should help👌
Harry, could you run through the differences of Cast Iron Camp oven V Spun Steel. As I've always used cast Iron, but would consider spun steel i.e: lighter, can be dropped etc etc, but I would be concerned about hot spots on the sun steel etc etc.... cheers
G’day Harry it’s Dave from Barred creek thanks for the introduction mate. I’ve got a sneaky little fishing spot I would like to show you if your looking to do a catch and cook segment any time.
Although we have been camping for decades, we have never had a camp oven - until now. Recently got one from Aldi for the incredibly high price of $19.99. Haven't used it yet but I am wondering how well something that cheap will go. The tripod we got for it cost more than the oven! Oh well, at least we now have all the gear we wanted to try out.
I think a better heat proof table is the stainless steel table of front runner. the one you linked is a pretty small one and might not be able to accommodate the dutch oven.
I agree the Front Runner is a great table, they are just very expensive so I wanted to include a more affordable option. The one in the link can carry 9.1kg so should have no problems with an oven on it.
@Fire to Fork I’m keen to hear your comparison between spun steel and cast iron camp ovens? I use cast iron camp ovens but am seeing spun steel becoming more popular, would love to see a video on that.
Dude. I think what would be so quirky and fun, maybe a Bush Bucket cooking videos would be awesome! I think you could really have some success with that
Awesome videos love the channel but as a South African, never in my life heard of a “braai basket” mate that’s a “braai grid” or in mouther tongue a “braai rooster”
I loved this video. Watched three of yours today and have now subscribed. One suggestion : turn off the autofocus if you can. Set the focus manually before you start. I was loving your content but it was hurting my eyes how much it drifted out of focus. Not meant to be mean. Just helpful.
Thanks mate! I do try and use manual focus whenever possible, the trouble is when I restricted with time (I can’t mess around with my camera when dinner is burning) I whack it on AF and just get the shot. I am saving up for a 2nd camera (with much better AF). I do appreciate the feedback
Hay Harry, Have you ever cooked roo tail on the coals? My Daughter and her boyfriend work in a community in the Kimberly and were introduced to them by the locals and they love them. I think they carry them in the shop. You would think they were stringy but that's not the case, they are very fatty with the typical roo gamy taste.
Good vids Harry. Keep em going mate. Just a question on your stainless tailgate bench which replaced the carpet. I want to do the same to my cruiser. Did you do it yourself? Would love to know more details like how it’s mounted if you have time mate. Cheers
hey harry thanks for the clip- just ordered the camp braii keen to check it out! Can you explain your preference on spun steel vs cast iron? Is it just for weight in the car?
Harry.. can you show us how to sharpen the knife with that sharpening tool you showed.👍love your videos. Also how is the back you look like your moving much better.
I’m in Australia and I have a collection of bushcraft knifes that I use for literally anything and everything but need to get them sharpened after my children used them 🤣🤦🏽♀️💀🥴 can you recommend someone for that?

@@RawPatrol thanks mate I'll stick with the cast iron at the end of the day I love cooking and while I'm camping I don't have anything else too important going on except for drinking and fishing so I have more then enough time to prep and be well organised with the fire and cast iron cooking I'll allocate the weight
What did I miss in my list? Comment below
I'll start: Beer
Came here really expecting someone to comment Sam lol :D
@@firetofork Your Missus mate.
I like to use a chopping board that way you don’t dull your good knife edge
a good quality thermal mug! nothing better than the last sip being as cold or hot as the first was.
I can't imagine my life without a decent Billy either
Nice piece, thanks. I'm not sure why you have only 25K+ subscribers.
My top ten:
1) vehicle
2) house battery
3) fridge
4) beer
5) stubby holder
6) chair
7) wood
8) food
9) knife
10) bucket

Great video and links. I'm the cook when me and my mates go off road, so great that I found your channel.

Great video. Best and worst time for cooking at camp. Me, best time is fall when leaves are turning and cooler weather coming in. Worst is when its 100+ degrees and no breeze.
Great 10 items to have. This video makes sure I have the top cooking items.
You can use the dutch oven lid as a skillet too! I'm new to them and I love mine!
I know you don't like folding legs but I've had great service from my Biji Barbi. The legs lock open and it's pretty stable.
If it has locking legs, it’s great in my book. The Bijis are very cool

I'd enjoy seeing more jaffel iron recipes, ribs, biltong, pizza, seafood
I second that !!
I swear we can never get them to work well :(
You mentioned a vid on spun steel camp oven ,look forward to seeing that one

Agreed, we're using cast iron but want to know the difference.

Why spun steal over cast iron ? I think I've used it couple times years ago and I found everything burnt every time with the steel over shorter times
