It is INSANE how much space you guys have. I think under the folks place (put on lot in 85'ish) there is maybe 12-18" of clearance and other spots a bit more. To get under there years ago at 145lbs I would have to shimmy using my ankles and arms to move fully horizontally. In one spot I had to curl into a ball to even turn around and make my way out towards the only exit.
Most double Watts are put low to the ground. Don’t ask me why if I ever had to have one put on a lot like this one I would ask them to give me 3 to 3 1/2 feet at least space in case I had to ever get under there.

No you can get paper with faced, which is the paper or unfazed without the paper. If you get it with the paper, the paper goes towards the inside of the house.
I don’t do for the most part single wide mobile homes because you can’t get to the insulation without ripping out the underbelly or the flooring. Generally, when somebody does a singlewide, they do it from the top side wall repairing.
I have a doublewide with underbelly insulation problems. I noticed you stuffing the replacement insulation in and there was no paper backing on it. If paper backed is used, which side goes against the floor and which faces the ground? Or, do you not recommend paper backed? Also never saw a video on how you boxed in or wrapped the duct trunk line. How did you handle that? Mine is exposed after tearing some insulation out due to cats getting into the insulation.
Thank you so much for your videos. I moved in to my grandmother’s 2001 Clayton that had been empty for 7+ years. When we turned on the air conditioner this summer, the flooring began to soften all along one side. My husband is going to be replacing the subfloor (using your videos) along the side of the house with our kitchen and dining room on it. In your experience with handling mobile home cabinets, should we go ahead and buy new cabinets to put in when we take the old ones out to replace the subfloor beneath them? I’m just concerned about how sturdy the cabinets are when it comes to moving them around like that. Btw, thank you so much. He was a little concerned that it was the new A/C unit that he installed that caused our flooring issues. It’s kind of nice to see that this is a common problem when the trunk lines are left exposed.
When you turn on the air in a mobile home that’s been sitting. Empty for a while probably with animals living in it. We’re always going to have to replace the insulation. And the insulation around the pipe is probably going to be destroyed so when you turn on the air the condensation will create moisture under your house, which will cause floor damage. When you do do the floor, use a quality flooring like in Vantex or adventeck you see it in all my videos is the best. I’m glad our videos are helping with your problem. As far as I’m concerned yes, when you take out the cabinets they’re going to be junk. They are very hard to remove and when they do come out generally they fall apart they’re not made of much so I suggest replacing them with new ones for sure you’ll save a lot of headaches
I am installing a tarp below on this job. To be honest. It’s ok either way. If I was doing it from above with new floors. I might use paper insulation. It is easier because I can staple it but here I’m doing it from below. So I use faceless
Well, as far as I’m concerned, the insulation never goes bad. It is made of fiberglass I like insulation without a vapor barrier built-in in other words without the paper. If your fiberglass insulation gets wet in it, it will dry out and be fine. If I was working for an insurance company Because they always try to make that extra money they will always say if it gets wet, it’s no good replace it. Insurance company makes their money from getting jobs done whether it needs it or not if it’s my insulation and it hasn’t been walked on or laid in. I would probably keep it. If animals have been under there I would get rid of it. Wet or not wet. Sorry about the long answer. But if you are talking about your insulation, just barely got wet it will dry out. I’d like a dehumidifier in a single wide mobile home. I think it is detrimental to the Moisture
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Ok, thanks. Good to know. In my case it was dripping wet because of a leaking outside faucet into the underbelly, then it dried out, then after a couple of years our water filter dumped all its water in our carpeted closet and bedroom - it did dried out but the floor is bumpy now and probably should be replaced even if I don't notice any mold. Plus we have a rodent problem and I'm guessing that they live in the underfloor insulation, so it should be replaced some day, but how to keep rodents away from it?
@naturewatcher7596 No, I don't know what this guy is talking about . If this type of insulation gets wet, it looses it's r value. So it's essentially worthless once it's wet. Fiberglass insulation cannot get wet and is known for other problems as well such as sagging. You will loose r value and your air conditioner will have to work more to cool your home and your energy bills will be high. I would recommend using a mineral wool which is fire and moisture resistant. And it doesn't sag.

Hey Drew appreciate the mobile home info. I have a question. My bro in law is about to rent me his single wide trailer and there's a semi wall that's divided the living and kitchen. I asked if it's possible if we could have that wall removed to have more space but he thinks it's part of the integrity of the structure of the roof. If I send you a picture can I get your opinion on it whether we could tear down that wall or if it will compromise the roof structure? I can email a picture to you
I’m planning on re-insulating the belly of my single wide, I’m considering roxul rock wool. What are your thoughts on using r22 rock wool? I’m in Canada 🇨🇦
I've seen some videos saying you need to have the paper side of insulation facing down and then some other video's people put it in facing the subfloor. Which is the right way?
The vapor barrier always faces inside. 1 exception mobile homes with and underbelly. The underbelly is a vapor barrier already and it’s hanging under the floor. To be honest I like faceless insulation no barrier. I think it’s useless.
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I see. Thank you. Your videos have been extremely helpful for me.

Rock wool is a great product. I say go with it.
nice job,not easy,,,have you ever tried rock wool?
I but I have heard of it
Love your video. Its super easy. How much you spent on this???
3000
I've seen some videos saying you need to have the paper side of insulation facing down and then some other video's people put it in facing the subfloor. Which is the right way?
The vapor barrier always faces inside. 1 exception mobile homes with and underbelly. The underbelly is a vapor barrier already and it’s hanging under the floor. To be honest I like faceless insulation no barrier. I think it’s useless.
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I see. Thank you. Your videos have been extremely helpful for me. I'm about to remodel a room in my trailer and I'm going to tear up some plywood I installed a year or so ago to install blocking all the way around like you do and put OSB down, then a water proof underlayment paper on top of that. Then use those tiger claws to hang the insulation from underneath the room and then install an underbelly. You're the best source of knowledge about these things. Appreciate the videos!
great videos as always!!!, I was wondering how you keep your steel beams in such a good shape, did you paint them to prevent rust?
We don’t get salt air around here so no rust
yo drew big question... would you ever do spray foam instead??? mine is bricked as well.....
I don’t think I would probably ever do that. I think insulation is the better option but it’s something I’ve never really thought about so maybe
What R value insulation are you using?
R-19
love you video but I would wear some sort of mask.
I agree I had some for the job and misplaced them
How much do you charge for a double wide mobile home
This is actually my home I don’t do it for anybody else. I hate going under mobile homes. This particular one is mine so I had to do it.
Drew, do you guys do much work in NE Ohio?
I have only been there once while we were there we went to visit the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame

@Drew's Roofing & Home Repair yeah that place is great. Anyways there's mobile homes to work on up here. Mostly east and south of where I'm at near Cleveland. But nobody wants the work
I love working on them my favorite thing to do

@Drew's Roofing & Home Repair I can see! I've been roofing/Siding and carpentry for 25 years and never ripped one open
What are those wire things called to hold up the insulation?
You can buy them at Lowe’s they are called insulation tiger claws. Ask somebody at the pro desk they will lead you right to them
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair thank u so much. I am a single lady that just purchased an older mobile home with one income trying to do the dyi's myself. Thanks so much for putting these videos up. They have so much info. Was off today and was doing research watching even sum of ur old videos. Keep it up. New subscriber in the house
Thank you. I’m glad to help. Ask any questions I will answer
What are your thoughts on replumbing with pex pipe instead of PVC. I live in pa. My pipes all cracked and need replaced so was thinking of having it done with pex
I’m not much of a plumber idk
This insulation is just a paradise for rodents and other critters. I don't see anything which prevents them to nest in it. The underbelly could be easily chewed or torn by them.
Nothing is going to keep rodents out, except for maybe poison
I don't understand why ur not wareing a dust mask at the very least. You need a painter mask. That alot of insulation in ur lungs.
I wore 1 most of the time. Paul on the other hand. No
Put a mask on please
For the most part we did. At least I did behind the camera
No face covering while handling insulation. Bet you went home with itchies and bad vision and a cough.
I will wear next time
Why in the fook would you not wear at least a n95 face mask its unbelievable
I know right. Dam it man
Can you make your videos shorter and better. You talk too much.
I know. I’m a talker
Please put some paper masks on you can see the insulation floating through the air on the video
We looked for them. I have them just misplaced them
