I'm gearing up to try and do some of my own underbelly repairs come spring time. I have a huge sagging spot under my home from the previous owners water troubles and my heat is not keeping up in the colder months - I suspect I have issues with the ducts in addition to all of the sagging insulation. My problem is I'm 6' 250 lbs and squeezing in is tough. Using the glue was something I hadn't considered. Thanks for all the really helpful tips.
Thank you soooo much for your content it really helped me with my single wide. I just had a couple of leaks through the vapor barrier and wanted to learn how to repair it correctly, you guys showed me how and so much more thank you for all the help
No thank you , so I watched one of your videos on how to repair vapor barrier leak. It was so helpful that I did a deep dive into a few more of your videos which helped me understand how they are built. I have a single wide 1985 Cavco. Thank you once again for all your hard work and the great video
This works with any manufactured home or even stick built house . Mine is a modular built in 2004 with a basement . I never even thought of humidity being such a big problem . In NJ I had a dehumidifier built into my heater and air conditioning unit . When I moved here to VA I never saw a heat pump or even knew how it worked . I had my modular home overbuilt 2X6 stud walls and 16 inch block in basement walls and steel beams put in before house was put on the basement with 2 cranes . . Steel beams run front to back and I also had the house left on it's frame because I was told it would make the floor system sturdier . The belly band is intact and repaired where plumbing was brought through . But found out there was not enough insulation in the sill plate of the house . I had to slice bellyband and insulate it but repaired belly band after . NOT sure why that happened but it did . Also found the first winter with the floor plans Norris homes the buildre forgot to cut the subfloor holes for 2 of the heating ducts . I had my modular built with no finished floors because I wanted to pick out what I wanted not what they offered . now they offer better finishs for prefab homes . Back in 2004 you had carpet or vinyl and some tile . Not much in the line of color picks either . But GAF roof had to be replaced this year . . Got only 20 years out of that roof .
Wow, you never know what they’re gonna do to be honest with you manufactured homes can be good and some of them can be bad. It’s just according to the builder replacing your roof after 20 years to be honest is normal. I had to replace mine after 14 years, my manufactured mobile home is on its second roof
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Thing is how many off grid homes have no water or electric . Geeze I know several people who built off grid homes here in VA and have no water or electric and the house is a shed . To be real honest I built one , but years later I added electric and use a hose from my house well for water . It is just a guest hose for my own home now . I see people living without water and electric in WEST VIRGINIA and Pennsylvania . Even some Amish still live with out those things in Pennsylvania . I have cousins that still live like that . We have people 2 miles from my house that built one of those metal carports then closed it in ,put in a cement slab and doors and live in it and the county still charges them taxes on a carport .IT IS NOT A CARPORT .
Thumb Up just to watch Paul maneuver an extended period of work. Oh. My. Been there not done that, yet. Thank you. Stay safe. Remember that spray glue don’t mix well with lit cigarettes.
Thank you for stopping by and watching my friend. I hope you enjoyed it and we don’t smoke cigarettes while we’re under the house spraying that glue that’s for sure. Thanks for your comments my friend I appreciate you more to come on my Roofing Channel.
thank you for the info . I put a dehumidier in my basement of my modulllar and good gosh I have had to empty it 4 times a day . I can imagine what a crawl space under a manufactured house would put out in humidity get one please people it is cheaper than breathing in moldy air
who you gonna call, no brainier... thxs for sharing...most ppl in trailers do not have the money to do it right or so it seems, this home owner understands the value of these types of repairs
WOW.. great work. I was gifted a beautiful 1991 mobile home and it's got POLYB pipes.. I'm having to change it out to Pex pipe.. I'm deciding if I should go from the top or under the underbelly?? Confused in Carson city Nevada t👍🏻
Beautiful job well done. The two of you work so well together high quality results. Used spider, termites carpenter ants bombs down the length of mobile home on each side, sprayed on inside and out side behind skirting as deep as spray would go. I saw Chipmunks, baby garter snake come out from under mh this summer. Lots of spider and spider eggs. I'm totally creeper out by them. Hmm depot has a fogger I thought I would try one at each end 1 middle of mh. I'm not sure what it will take to drive out all the critters. Bought mh last October. How much do you charge to do under belly. Cincinnati area. Love Your videos
Do you have a video that shows how to attach the underbelly fabric to the supprt beams. Ive been ripping out all the old insulation and getting rid of the racoon nests
Loving your videos. Do you have any mentioning how you would secure wrap edges near the metal beams? In my situation the belly wrap was fully degraded, and don't have free space to pass the material between metal beam and floor joists.
Take a 2 x 2 and a tarp roll one end up nail it to the floor, Joyce or screw it to the floor Joyce and then pull it to the other side with another one by two or one by one. Whatever do the same thing if you have to cut it for any reason, cut it, you can put a patch over the cut
Great video guys thanks for sharing all this information. my question is in your video. I see you have the ground covered with plastic. My trailer is in Nokomis, Florida about an hour south of Tampa is this something you recommend for trailers in the south ones that are sitting on sand
Well, I like the moisture barrier on the ground as it will keep most of the ground moisture down underneath ground moisture is what Rhines most mobile homes. They start rusting the frames deteriorate so keeping the moisture down is important where I live. I also have a dehumidifier under my house.
Thank you for your very informative videos! I have a 14 x 80 mobile home that needs re-insulating and a vapor barrier put up. What is the approximate cost for materials and labor to have that work done please?
You can do it! To be honest with you I think I spent a couple thousand dollars on insulation then about four days worth of labor two guys Won of them being me you’ll probably have easily $3500 invested
Yes sir I'm sorry to bother you I'm just wondering is when it comes to my air duct am I to cover it up with this Tyvek that I have or am I to leave it uncovered that's where I'm puzzled but I hope yall are having a good day any advice would help any advice would be appreciated
I put the plastic on the ground so that we could work on it instead of crawling around in the dirt. The dirt overtime will kill your knees plastic as much better to work on top of.
Awesome video guys! I am wondering where do you get the products? do you have a link for the underbelly fabric and the buttons and glue? How many cans of glue do you typically need also? Thanks.
You can buy the underbelly at Most Lowe’s hardware everything I show in the video you can actually buy at Lowe’s hardware at least I did good luck with your project
Is there a email address where i can ask a question about this type of work? I have people who need the flooring of a mobile home removed and its from flooding and if the insulation isnt removed itll cause mold
You say "Extra strength 3M, use that underbelly" as in the underbelly fabric but are you going with similar grade that is another brand on Amazon? Can't seem to find that stuff. What size is the roll you were using?
Joel I used was 14 x 80 and I bought it at a Mobile Home Supply store. You can’t buy it at Lowe’s. Go check your Mobile Home Supply stores. You’ll find it and it’s not that expensive.
If I were you, I would put 3 inches of gravel under my entire mobile home. It will soak up a lot of water. You’ll be surprised and if you have room put a dehumidifier under there you can buy at Lowe’s for 250 bucks. That’s what I did.
drew is it common for a 2019 clayton single to have some soft spots in the floor? i with a good dry moist barrier?? is it just poor construction? settling ? also just the linoleum floors i heard u can feel alll the soft spots with it vs hardwood
Do you have any videos of how to do the side section? Have to completely replace underbelly on my double wide, not sure how to do it where it sits above the frame.
It’s according to how much of it needs to be replaced. It’s according to how big the spaces under your house. Is there any room to work or is it just completely crowded or too low to the ground? My suggestion would be call maybe more than one contractor and get prices it could vary Anywhere from $1500-$5000 according to big houses plus labor and material you never know how much you’re gonna use labor probably two grand material maybe around the same thing insulation is expensive
You probably better than anyone would know the answers to these questions I have. How much protection from mice, rats and raccoons is the underbelly when it is properly done? and what is the best set up for the mobile home to be sitting on, concrete pad, concrete runners , dirt or gravel? I watch you all working under them and it seems like concrete might make it easier, and more space definitely would.
That is exactly what it’s called underbelly fabric. You can buy it on Amazon. You can also buy it at Lowe’s hardware or Home Depot. That’s where I bought mine.
I wish that there was someone around my area that did work on mobile homes. Because my wife and I are both disabled. We can't afford to pay to much to have new windows and the under belly replaced along with installation put back in. I did have my nephew replace the flooring and that is when I found out that all of the installation and under belly was bad. Now the plumbing in the bathroom is making a noise.
If that is the only place you have to put the insulation because you’re underbelly is gone. Yes use the method that I did. What you wanna do is put blown insulation in there or you can just use bat insulation like I did. It’s up to you blown insulation would be fine, you can just put the rolls in it just like Paul and I did
Wow, you guys may be the only people left that will work on mobile homes.
We like working on mobile homes

I put the plastic on the ground so that we could work on it instead of crawling around in the dirt. The dirt overtime will kill your knees plastic as much better to work on top of.

No real protection at all. Underpinning will work best for that. Concrete. If they were sitting on concrete, that would be nice.
does the underbelly material need to breathe? i.e. would it be a mistake to use a roll of 6 mil airtight polyethylene ?
I would probably suggest using underbelly as it does breathe. I feel like solid plastic might cause issues between the floor.
Good job you guys work great together
Yes we do
Where are you located? We need our entire undervelly repaired
Southport, North Carolina
Hi Drew, I do have a 24 by 56 double wide, how much does it cost to have this done???? Thank you
Lots of work involved. Removal. reframing duct work insulation on pipes. Around 10,000 L/m
