lol - "Patience that I don't have ..." Me either!! Great ideas still in 2021!
yes LOL and these are for all year around! thanks Amy
This is why I watch your videos and subscribe to your channel. Everything is complete, concise and informative. You can see the effort you put in. Thank you very much, very appreciated.
Kathy Thanks so much. And I appreciate you commenting on it!! It means a lot!!
Great ideas. Also crushed egg shells, sponge, cork. :)
yes those are great! I've done egg shells its fun!
In place of the expensive 'art stones' use perlite. You get in the gardening dept and a big bag only costs a few dollars! I got mine in the gardening dept at Walmart and an 8 qr bag cost $6. Perlite is a lightweight round 'stone' you mix with potting soil to keep the soil light and airy.
that's an awesome tip! thanks so much
Keren thank you for all the options.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for your great ideas. You are fantastic!
Glad you like them! thanks so much!
Keren, thanks for all the options for texture!
For those just watching this: the expensive texture pastes are nice, but you can create the same effect with spackeling paste or joint compound from your hardware store, at a fraction of the cost. Check out other UA-cam videos describing how to use them in conjunction with other mediums for the same effect. Also, you can replace gesso with inexpensive flat white paint from your hardware store.
thanks for sharing. I have other videos who show links to home made texture paste
Yes really enjoy this. I also use old book pages as background texture
Your videos are excellent; thank you!
Glad you like them! thanks!
Thanks
Bedankt
thank you so so much Jenny!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Keren. I’m a newbie to mixed media and are watching many of the UA-cam videos. Yours are by far the best. You give excellent demos and talk to your viewers about what you are doing and suggest. So important because most of these videos are music and sped up so I don’t know what is going on. I really enjoyed your videos on the different gesso, modeling pastes, etc. So Keren Tamir, thank you very much. Your UA-cam page is a “must subscribe “ to anyone interested in mixed media.
Wow thank you so much!! I'm so appreciative of your comment, it means so much to me. I try my best to explain everything so I'm glad its appreciated.
You are absolutely wonderful Karen ! Thank you very very much!
Wow, that was very enlightening. Some i have used but others I never thought of. Thank you
awesome to hear! thanks so much Christine!
I love this! Thank you
Glad you like it! thank you Sofie!
I got lucky - ours son’s toy kitchen came in a box filled with different textured cardboard. Art journaling has made me start to look at things so differently!! I am randomly picking up “junk” I wouldn’t think twice of before throwing it in the trash. I like the challenge of using non traditional art supplies. Thanks for the video.
thank you so much!!! you're so right, I collect a lot of "junk" and use it all the time!
Thank you this helps tremendously
so glad to hear!
Absolutely amazing video! Your so easy to watch and friendly thank you for your inspiration and advice Liz x
Thank you so much Liz!!

thanks Sharon, so glad you liked it!!

thank you!!!
Karen you look beautiful.
Be happy & live happily.
Regards from Pakistan.
Thank you so much
Thank you for this video 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for the great tips! Motivators!
New subscriber. I love these kinds of videos; they are so informative. I like glue a piece of tulle to my background and then gently turn the heat gun on it. It melts polyester and creates great texture. Be careful though and don't touch the tulle until it cools!
Thanks for sharing all these great ideas, so much fun , love it!
thank you!!
Thank u for all the ideas
You are so welcome!

Thanks kerin some great ideas i thought of pipe cleaners long spaghetti being able to cut the hard pasta in different lengths and paint over it or leave it natural colour
Great idea! thanks for sharing!
Just found ur videos. Glad I did. I've done textured for years. Lately I'm using them more and more, besides using Modeling paste for the main object I'm painting I love to use texture in the background. I love all ur ideas. Im always looking at for things to do texture. I keep so many things, u never know when u may use them. .Thank u for sharing all ur ideas.
just found you and can't wait to watch your videos...thanks
Thanks, Keren. Very helpful💕
awesome!! glad to hear!!
❣
Thank you for this very informative video, I really appreciate it! A lot of great information on supplies to use and how to use them. Thanks again!
glad to hear it helps!! thanks so much for your comment!!
Love it! How about pasta, rice, and other hard food? The cool thing about rice is that you can easily dye it if you don't want to paint over it.
yes so true! TFS!!
Great ideas....ty
Love this
thank you!!
Thank you for showing how to use different things and I will try them:-) Joyce
thank you so much Joyce!! glad you liked it1
You are AWESOME! Thank you for your video! This has opened up my mind to texture. I feel like I should have known all of this, but you just made me realize that I did! I'm going to have a blast with this!
Great ideas. Thank you.
SO COOL!!!!
MR.VICTOR CRAFTER thank you!!!
I use the mesh netting that vegetables come in. Like onions. But you have to be careful when using heat gun to dry things on project as it melts and shrivel up. Used seeds such as Bird seed.
yes great idea, you can use the net as a stencil too. and I've used seeds actually the shells. I have a video about that with different types of food you can use thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for some great ideas to create texture !👏👏❤️
You are so welcome! glad you liked them!
I am so glad that I found your channel. I am going to have a lot of fun watching your videos. So excited!
thanks so much!!!
Thank you Keren. Very informative video. The black crackle canvas you showed is a piece of artwork in it self. I loved it.
thank you!!
Thank you! Very good video!!
thank you!
so nicely explained Keren. absolutely useful to ppl like me
thank so much Alka!! glad you liked it!!
I don't know how they compare cost-wise, but there are texture combs for frosting/icing made by Wilton that look similar to the ones you're using for paint/gel. I have also scrunched up aluminum foil and used that to "stamp" onto my surface. Since it's rigid, the marks it makes tend to look more like crackles. Also, I've been using painter's tape (the blue stuff) for masking; it peels off cleaner, and I use a sewing pin to pry up one corner for removal, poking it gently into the tape without disturbing what the tape is stuck to. Thanks for so much inspirational content!
yes I think those combs are very similar and I do love all those ideas. honestly there's just so many things you can use from around the house, garage or even nature. the possibilities are endless.
Keren,
Your videos are so fantastic..and inspirational. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills.
It really sets my mind racing into so many ideas ...all I need to do is actually get on with creating something fascinating for myself.
I love your channel and think that you come across as a genuine ARTIST ..someone who is not on you tube just for fame and fortune (although I am sure that would be a bonus) but someone who is passionate about their ART.
Thank you so much. x
oh Sandra, thank you so much for your words! I truly love what I do. I love art so much!! I can't wait to see what you create. please tag me on FB or IG so i can see it!
I will do that Keren
Thanks Keren, some ideas I had not thought about using. Keep up the good work.
glad to hear!! thanks for your comment!
Keren Tamir I just watched your crackle video but did not see your example of the black one with white crackles. Did you use it only for an example? It was really beautiful and I wanted to try the right medium for that one. Thanks
liz kb it's the one with the two step medium and crackle from bobunny.
You can make your own texture tools by cutting notches along the sides of old credit and gift cards. Cut the cards into different widths before cutting notches too.
yes!! funny enough I have a video with 10 hacks with plastic cards lol. I love these ideas!!
I have learned so much from you, your videos are extremely well done. I was wondering if you might be doing a video on how you come up with your compositions. I am just starting out with mixed media and this is one subject I do not see covered very much. Thank you for all that you do. Blessings Di
I'm so glad to hear Di!! thanks so much! yes that's a great idea for a video. do you want composition for a Scrapbooking Layout or for a canvas/journal page?
Thank you for showing this beautiful ideas 🥰😍
My pleasure 😊 thanks so much!
Great ideas!!! My grandson & I have started a “Textures” tub🤗💜
That is awesome! enjoy your time with him!!
Great video!
thanks!!!
Just found ur channel! Very cool info. Thank you!!
thanks so much April!!! xo
Have you tried dryer lint? Ed depending on what color laundry you are doing you can get neat colors. Another idea is use caulking in the silicone molds it is much sturdier. I heat oven to lowest temp, fill the molds and put them in the oven to speed dry time. Jus t don't use pure silicone in them it will stick.i use cheap caulk fro dollar tree. Ali express is a great place to get them with free shipping, no tax it just takes 3-4 weeks to arrive from china. They have Stencils less than $1.00 each for the small ones.
wow Dawn those are awesome ideas!! so cool. I have to look in the garage to see if we have any caulking so I can try!!
😍😍😍
Best tutorial!
thank you so much!
Keren A Big Thank you your the best you explained every thing Brilliant which I myself can understand with me having this Brain Injury and I am sure most people would say the same.
thank you so much! it means a lot to me that you say that because I try so hard to do this
Excellent comprehensive video. Very enjoyable & well done, thank you. I can imagine that thick, almost like honeycomb, cardboard you showed, as a stamp to add a fishing net texture, or on wall art representing a fishing net in an undersea composition.
yes that's a great idea!! TFS!!
I got a lot of info. Thank you
thank you Dalia!!
Great video Keren. Have to check out the casting stuff and I always forget about salt. Love that effect. Have never tried the wax either. Will have to check out your video on that. Thanks
You should try it its so much fun to create texture!! have fun!!
tnx..:)
V enlightening!Inspires me to start using all the stuff lying around the house!thk.u!Trying.out a mix of 3tbsps of Plaster of paris+2tbsps pva glue +1 tbsp.acrylic.paint ..to create a texture paste..home made....n trying to also.use it as a,stencilling medium......its only the beginning so trying out these experiments on bits of paper .......thx for all the tips Keren.!
That's great!! did you see my homemade gesso video or the texture paste one. I used the same formula.
@@KerenTamir no!!where is it?i got this formula from an indian craft channel... cd u pl direct me to your video?many thx
here is the gesso one: ua-cam.com/video/yr6_1wvyWVY/v-deo.html
Here is the texture paste one: ua-cam.com/video/Xwf419WsExo/v-deo.html for this one you can also use sand
Trinity, Somehow I can't reply to your comments as it blocks me. It could be something in your Google + settings. So I'm replying here.
Modelling paste is smooth while texture paste is rough to create texture. It may have sand or something gritty in it. You can also create texture with modelling paste using it through a stencil for example but the surface will be smooth while texture paste will be rough. There's also crackle paste which makes cracks.
In terms of the tape you could use to create a honeycomb like texture. my only concern would be removing the tape without ripping it. However you could use it without removing the sticky part or using the backing as a stencils. you can peel off the backing and use it as well in your projects.
Keren Tamir thank you for the extra tips
love your tips and channel thank you, have now subscribed :)
Thanks for subbing! so glad they help!
Super liked the video
Your video was very informative. So many sources for texture! I wish that you had a small sample for each texture in a finished form so that I could visualize it. I have an idea to create a ring of sample index cards for each type of texture I come across as I improve my creativity and experiences with mixed media.
I think I have another video with textures where I show the different backgrounds. I use a lot of these on my projects so you can see final results when you watch my videos. thanks for watching!!
Thank you I. would use these to help with my cards and prayer favors
Thank you so much!!
Eggshells, vegetables
yes I've used those before!
Awesome vid! These are not extras, rather free alternatives... If you open the little silica packets that come in medicines, they contain either little beads, or some look like the little stones you were using. Also, you can pull the wire out of old spiral notebooks. I've also cut apart old handbags when they are worn out, there is always little metal parts on them I keep, even the zippers. I also mix sand in with paint. Finally, I find spakfilla a cheaper product than some art mediums, as it's in bulk at the hardware.
wow those are some great ideas!! TFS!!! love it!!
Love all of them, so many options. I would like to know what product you used in your molds? The results were beautiful.
I can't remember what I used here but my favorite one to use is Amazing Casting Resin. you can see that one and other options here: ua-cam.com/video/FS24WNv83e0/v-deo.html
Hi Karen, great video. I use textured wallpaper. You can get samples for free x
I really enjoyed this video. You opened my eyes to many possibilities. I wondered if you could use a heat gun to get those wax beads to melt right into the paper?
yes you can, but they are so light the fly away sometimes. I recommend heating the paper first then putting them on, then the heat gun
👍✌️🙏❤️
I have used used dryer sheets
yes!!! thats an awesome idea!
I also sud to your channel thank you
I didn't see you mention eggshells for texture. Also you can make really inexpensive 'crackle paste' using white school glue.
yes I've used it before! I think I have it in my food related video.
how about using a toothbrush used used hair comb.
yes and yes!!!
How did you get paint to adher to the glue gun texture?
you can cover it in gesso first and then add the paint!1
Hi Keren... Excuse me, the creativation expo is always in Phoenix AZ?
Regards...and congrats..
Thanks for your videos...
its been there for the past 3 years and it will be there for 2 more according to them. Before that it was in Anaheim California
@@KerenTamir thanks for the info.. the date of the expo? Aprox un january? 2021
Do You know about an other event like it? In this year
@@mariaup2248 yes around then, maybe 17-19 just check creativation.org
Wonder why my crackle paste doesn’t crack? Any ideas?
what brand is it and how old is it?
@@KerenTamir brand new Golden brand
I have never used that one but each brand works differently some need to air dry to crackle and some need to heat up to crackle. Some need a thick coat and some need a thin coat. I would text those first as I don't know how the golden brand works.
I saw someone put tea and coffee in texture paste.
yes i think I've done that!!
Thank you for this great video. I bet a lot of husbands are missing their screws and bolts.😊
lol yes!!
Thanks so much, Karen, for this very informative video. I'm a new subbie and want to try mixed media, but am on a limited income, so this was very helpful. I'm really going to try a lot of your ideas. God bless!
that's awesome!! yes these are perfect when you're on a budget!! thanks so much!!
i.just saw this one but i guess it didnt register re the formula .....i was experimenting this morning after seeing the indian version of how to.make this n I guess i got mixed up!mb thats why i.l
ike mixed media so.much!
so glad to hear you're finding my videos so helpful. Mixed media is amazing indeed
styrofoam as a stamp. so much used packaging!
oooo!! I love that idea, never thought of it
I was thinking of making patterns with a pin. it does work just with tiny bit of paint. you can make a handle with a plastic bottle cap
@@sharonwilliams3019 you have great ideas!!
