I cannot count the number of videos and tutorials I've watched over the last couple of months leaving me feeling lost and with no inspiration. Then I found this video and the light switch has been turned on! Thank you for this extremely informative tutorial, Keren! Dear Keren,
I have been binge watching your videos and you have kick started my mixed media practice. I have always envied your access to deli paper in the US which doesn't seem to exsist in the UK except at great expense from America. I have just found an excellent substitute in the form of wet strength tissue which is made for making lanterns and carnival floats. It is relatively cheap and comes in large sheets. I really enjoy your gentle teaching style which is concise but detailed. I have subscribed to your channel so I look forward to future videos. Thanks for the inspiration. Carol UK

thank you so much Carol, Deli paper is just the one used in butcher shops or the one that separates the cheese slices in the supermarket. you can monoprint though on anything, napkins, tissue paper etc. You would probably like my. last video as I monoprinted with my glue gun. I'm not in the US I'm in canada but yes we still have deli paper.

Michelle you've probably done mixed media techniques in your cards before, you can translate all you knowledge to art journaling. its just another paper surface just a little bigger and its done for yourself

This is a great tutorial video! Thank you so much for sharing this. Yes I have been intimidated by mixed media. However, we don't realize it, we all use some mixed media in our card making, art or whatever every day. Such as those lines you made with the credit card. I've used that on cards before. Splatters! We've all used splatters.... those finishing touches.
I think we all have a little mixed media in our soul that needs to come out! Hopefully I will start reaching in to this this year.

yes that's exactly it, we use mixed media all the time wether you're a card maker, scrapbooker etc you use it, kids use it in kindergarten, It sounds like a big scary word but it can be anything. It can be adapted to your comfort level. by definition mixed media is a combination of more than one medium in a piece

I like using premixed wall spackle from the hardware store or glass bead gel with my stencils. Both can be colored by adding acrylic paint to it before applying. I like to use a bit of pearlized paint to add some sparkle.

Thanks. For me, personally, I knew most of the techniques already, but it's inspiring to see you create something from nothing so easily:
making complex artworks by layering simple techniques.
The printable collage idea, by the way... is quite brilliant.
Such an effective way to get past the blank canvas stage in the process (that irrational fear of getting started and somehow 'ruining it', because the canvas is still so pristine, fresh, new... and you doubt every stroke / creative choice before you even touched the canvas)
Really cool idea.
(Frees you up, so you can get started immediately, without doubting everything)
