Hey Doddy I saw an old long form video that Steve Jones put together for Dirt Magazine back in the day. It had a hilarious piece of him teaching us how to skid whilst behind a quad or something. It had a young Neil, aka The Don, in it too in a baggy jersey, talking about corning, pumping, and jumping, to some old style trap rap. It also had Bryn Atkinson it in talking about corning. Tell me I'm wrong if a young Bryn Atkinson doesn't look and sound exactly like Tuff. This was cool to see. The video had all the greats -- Sam Hill, Greg Minar, Eric Carter, George Atherton, Ben Reid, Steve Peat, everybody. I'm 22, and I feel like I was watching the mtb fathers of my generation. It was 50 minutes long and I loved every minute of it. #GMBNtechrewind
Love this, great report Doddy.I just think its deeply cool to see someone so immersed in mtb culture and to involve your family in it also. The best Malverns coverage yet by far for me anyway.
Had a wicked time there from Thursday to Sunday I met Dodd and loads of famous riders looking forward to next year hopefully will have recovered from covid so I'll be riding
Excellent video Doddy. I too was there for the original races and remember the water jump all too well. Great to see it has returned as a festival. Maybe next year for me 🙂
Kinda surprised there aren't more mtb festivals in general. This event looks amazing. I could checkout those classic bikes for hours and loved all the whip off/racing aspect. Seems like the UK has way more festivals than the US.
I had an issue of Mountain Bike Action from 94-95 and there was a review on a bike named the Durango 8x8, it was a bike with 8 inches of travel front and rear that weight over 50lbs. Pretty sure they had taken a front fork and a rear end off a small CC motorcycle and mounted them to some mountain bike frame. In the review it was mentioned that a bike with this amount of travel and weight would never catch on or be practical. Wonder if this is the same bike you mentioned @4:19?
Like to choume guy ride. Doody the so feri but #GMBNtech we went to. A so ides of #mountainbiking thes. Malverns classic 2021 in the #GMBN vlog 🤟🏻🗣️yyaaSicke Saluds of Chile 🇨🇱 enjoy video good lucky
I have a winter race coming up. This track can get pretty muddy. Should I be riding full knobbly tires? I've been riding various iterations of the XR tires series that come stock on trek bikes for years. I have XR3's on at the moment but I can't help but think they are literally not going to stick in the mud of Northern Michigan. Any GMBN suggestions?
Have you ever been to a bike festival?
back in the 90 ies… maybe i’ll bee visiting the out of bounds festival in saalbach next year
Yes! The West Virginia Fat Tire Festival in 1994!

I'd go if there were more events. Not much in the US it seems like. Or maybe it's just always too far away haha.
