I would say this level of depth hasn’t been seen in 34 years for the Oilers.
Since the 80s oilers and it’s not even close
Oilers are over the cap and still have a couple people to sign. Wait until the dust settles.
This Oiler team is as deep as the 87 Oilers offensively. This will be a fun season. Maybe with 3 really good lines you won't have to play Drai and McD so much and they can remain healthy for a cup run.
Edmonton was very lucky to get as far as they did. They won't get past Vancouver in the second round of the playoffs next year. The only reason why they beat Vancouver this year is because so many Vancouver players were injured.
@@aaronlilley5007hongcouver was lucky to push the Oilers to 7. They took two steps back with the players they lost. Cannot fans are the worst acting like they have won anything 🤣
Can't wait for next year, all we hear all playoffs from 'experts' was how DEEP everyone was vs our poor 2 man Oiler show.
They were within 1 goal of winning the stanley cup. Far far faaaaaaaaaaaar better than anything the leafs will ever achieve ever.
@@hillfortherstudios2757why are the Leafs troubling you little one, point to where they hurt you 😭
within 1 goal of tying and 2 goals of winning, math much?
EXACTLY
Excuse me but what have The leafs whit this things to do ?????
I remember the day that 1260 shut off in Edmonton. One of the worst days as it was unexpected. I had no idea where you guys went until I stumbled across this clip. Instant subscribe. Hopefully. Renee still makes an appearance occasionally.
1440 on the AM dial.
Glad you found us!
Last season Draisaitl was often skating with players who were really not top 6 players. That won't be the case next season.
I like Mcleod but 3M is a lot for what he provides
hes 2.1 mil
He’s gone lol
WAY 2 much
Love the foot speed going forward 🥊✔🇨🇦😁
So excited about this year 😂🇨🇦🇺🇸
Skinner didnt fall asleep, Jamie..you commentators fell asleep whenever Bouchard made his nightly mistakes in his own end
Great question great interview ✔🇨🇦😁
Oilers will be there
The Oilers made some great moves but they still haven't addressed the D properly or the sub par goaltending. Extended a journeyman AHL/NHL back up sure... But they are really betting on Skinner to be better next year and he doesnt have any injury problems.
Did you watch the playoffs? Skinner got better as they went on and played very well in big games. He had better stats than Bobrovsky! He'll be even better this year with all that experience. Give your head a shake, stupid comment.
Goalie is 25, He will get nothing but better. Add 1-more solid D-man. Were set.
I heard, I believe, on Friedman's podcast that the player has to agree to go on LTIR. They mentioned this specifically when talking about E. Kane. I'm sure this is not a big deal for 99.99% of players, but I always did wonder why Kane just didn't get healthy back in Dec. or whatever.
Yes Noodles ✔🇨🇦😁
Still. Should review and update the defence. Stu skinner proved himself capable
Is Eric wearing bee keeper overalls? 😂
Fired up here ✔🇨🇦😂
I think the "hasn’t been seen in 20 years" refers to any team, not just the Oilers.
Early 2000s Detroit is the team they're probably referring to.
Grinds my gears that Ryan McLeod can't figure it out. His favorite player is Ryan Smyth, then channel that grit man. Love the kid, but maybe move him. Can't always fall in love with a player and keep them even with all negatives.
Done
@@dadaustin4570 Decent trade too. Didn't expect a blue chip coming back for a somewhat salary dump.
I’m not going to get too excited. We saw how horrendous the first few months of last season were. Yes, they made an incredible turnaround, but hyping them too much might end up biting us in the ass
All these great hockey minds commenting on McLeod are really exposing their intellect. You don't give up on a player like this.
You do for Savoie
@@mrfake675 Revisionist history now, no one saw this trade coming.
I still like McLeod a lot.
@@Phyrogenacious me too.
De fense!! da da da ..DE FENSE!!
Yes😁✔🇨🇦
Oilers have not just two 😂but a core that took some time😄✔🇨🇦

@@BigBore525xya he does that a lot
And now they’re in cap hell
Not really. And no one cares about your fucking opinion
Really bothers me they just couldn't muster up that win in game 7. Just feels like so much is riding on this next season now. The preseason cup favourites are never the ones that win the cup. I feel like a lot of people are jinxing us
jinxes are just illusions.
Who was the cup favourite last season?

@@aaronlilley5007 gonna save this one so i can come back to this comment next playoffs💀💀
All these sub star players taking hits on salary to piggyback a cup off the shoulders of McDavid. Yet McDavid and Drai are sitting pretty with their hefty contracts... They better win next year because if they don't all these guys who could have secured better contracts will have passed that by.
I mean Draisaitl isn't even in the top 40 highest paid AAV's in the NHL, Despite being a top 2 or 3 or 4 player in the world. Connor is obviously on a big contract but like you could argue that he's worth 16-17 mil for what he does 😂

@@mithex8414 I couldn't. Conner is worth what he's being paid, nothing more. He's fantastic but if he sucked up any more cap he'd be a liability. Draisaitl might only have the output he has because of McDavid. He just disappeared in the final 7 games. He's a great player, well deserving of 8-9M, but not more. Players like Hyman and Draisaitl, if you take them away from McDavid they don't have as great of stats.
@@pinch1loaf Draisaitl played with a broken index finger and a broken rib. He was nowhere near himself.
@@mithex8414 Therein lies the fundamental flaw of having little depth to the team. In the playoffs you're gonna get battered and bruised. Every team is dealing with injuries. When you have 230+ points in the post season and 105 of those come from 3 players you stand a very good chance of getting screwed when one of those guys gets even a bruised rib or a sprained finger. Every little thing is gonna affect their performance.
Hear 😂a whisper dynasty 😂✔🇨🇦
Get rid of mcleod . if finances work, replace him with one of Pederson, lavoie, borgault, or savoie. Even drake cagguila if he's still available. Mcleod is a fourth line player now, and there's no doubt anyone of the players mentioned above would contribute no less than what 71 did.
Savoie wasn’t qualified and bourgault can barely produce in the A at this point. Could maybe see Pedersen he can pk and play centre. Lavoie in for Mcleod doesn’t make sense
we are over the cap right now. Wed have to get rid of Mcleod just to get cap compliant.
You're ignoring the fact the 71 is one of out best PKers. If you move him you'd better have a replacement.
It wouldn't do anything for us. We still have to sign Holloway and Broberg. Kane is gonna have to go on LTIR or they have to move Ceci
Good call on Savoie.
Will Paul Coffee's absence affect the defensive progress?
In 20 years??? Their teams were crap in the 2000's not sure if McLennan knows what he's talking about its more like back to the 80's
He means just overall.
It’s extremely hard to get to the final in back-to-back years. I don’t see the Oilers doing it.
Most teams that go to the Finals don't turn around and massively improved their team
S team literally did it this year
You’re right, it’s difficult to go to the finals in back-to-back years. Most teams blow up their team after getting there the first time, win or lose, but the Oilers seem to be going for broke. Too early to say, but on paper they’ve improved their roster. Guess we will see.
Didn’t Florida just make back-to-bak appearances?
22-23 Florida just did it
20-21-22 Tampa went to THREE
16-17 Penguins did it
Blackhawks won 3 cups in 5 years
Like the Oilers have a good team. Will it be hard? Absolutely, but the illusion of "hard to get back the next year" is a false legend. Teams do it all the time. And it's not like I'm picking these other examples from the the pre salary cap era or the 40s. Literally happened 3 different times in the last 8 years😂😂
A perfect team besides Nurse's contract, Ceci is meh, Mcleod is meh, Perry will he an anchor at his age, Kane probably on LTIR until playoffs and Stu Skinner is good but far from great.
Late bloomer ✔🇨🇦😁
Derek Ryan is better 4th line center than McLeod.
Mcleod Plays too soft, but doesn't have enough skill to warrant it. He's got tremendous speed but little finish and no grit.
Defence and Goaltending still stinky!
But better than 30 other teams this past year..
The team needs Kane's physicality!
Mcleod needs to go. He makes soft plays all over the ice. Even on the forecheck, he's reluctant to hit anyone. He avoids contact at all costs. Those players are almost useless come playoffs. I'd rather have a minimum wage tough guy that just hits and fights for the 4th line.
Should look into packaging Mcleod , Ceci, plus an incentive for another legit top 4 dman.
now.....just get rid of nurse and his bullshit 9.3, and we would be sitting pretty, and the cap space is needed, hes over paid by 6 million
the issue is that contract is really hard to move. you gotta give up a lot to get rid of him.
i realize that but he is so inconsistent he had one good game all year, i hate that money just terrible i would have let him go myself 3.5 or have a nice day
NHL should put in clauses on those contracts 😊
Buddy, nurse is fine. Contract is not ideal, but whatever. They need someone on the right side
too bad no NHL team is ever going to get this deep since the Oilers screwed the rest of the league with the 1st overall pick system. You can also say Oilers were the worst team in the league the longest time in NHL history.
You can also say you are clueless. Toronto Maple Leafs. 😮
It won't matter. They will never coalesce into a real team. Not while your captain wants all the accolades, ice time, and attention for himself.
Mc David is not like that at all. You guys out side of Edmonton have a skewed idea of who he actually is.
And you puppy love, fan boys have a very distorted view of who he is. He is a selfish captain who hasn't got a clue what his teammates are for. He certainly did NOT show the leadership necessary to carry your team to a championship. @craigcervo4384😂
Skinner played 80 games 25 jeff skinner welcome to 😂🔥✔🇨🇦
You people live at fantasy hotel. You have an above average team. thats it folks. No draft picks and cap problems already.
Omg I am so glad EDM didn’t win the cup, Totally not deserved. Would have been the worst thing to happen to hockey.
71 soft as butter
