About Dream Engines: Nomad Cities:
Advanced society is long gone, the world is overrun by the Dream Plagues. The only survivors are small nomadic tribes that don’t attract too much attention. And now, the discovery of a long-abandoned project of the ancients lights a new hope - the flight-capable Nomad Cities.
Build an industrious flying city
Your city’s population and economy form the backbone of your survival. Running out of food or resources can be just as dangerous as meeting a Dream Plague in the wilds. Plan and build automated production lines, and keep your people housed, happy and well fed.
Survive until the last moment - then run!
Fortify your city and defend it against raids for as long as you can. But even the ancients were unable to withstand the Dream Plagues forever - the longer you stay, the stronger they become. Unlike the ancients, however, you are able to grab your entire city and just fly away when things become too rough.
Balance expansion and disposable buildings to be left behind
Your city’s area is limited. You’ll have to balance between expensive long-term upgrades to expand your city, and building disposable infrastructure that will be left behind. Carefully choose which buildings you take with you and which you can live without - at least for a while.
Find and exploit scarce resources across different biomes
Resources are rare, and you’ll need a lot of them to turn your city into a self-sufficient empire. Good thing you can always move to another area when you’ve depleted everything around you. Every biome has an unlimited variety of procedurally generated landing areas, that each have different resources, opportunities, and challenges.
Explore the world with a customizable Steambot
The wilderness is swarming with Dream Plagues. To explore your surroundings, you directly control a unique Steam-Bot in real time action. You will upgrade, equip and customize that Steam-Bot to your preferred play style.
Discover ancient mysteries
The world is full of ancient ruins and strange mysteries. As you fly and land in different areas, you will discover these places, exploit them, and uncover their mysteries. (Mysteries & Lore not yet implemented).
Research, craft, and upgrade your infrastructure
The ancients used advanced Dream-Tech, most of which is now lost to the ages and to the Dream Plagues. In your flying city you will be able to build advanced research facilities and discover some of these secrets - unlocking advanced buildings and new crafting recipes for your Steam-Bot.
Upgrades to your infrastructure provide permanent bonuses and abilities to best fit your preferred playstyle. Spend hard-earned upgrade points on your Steam-Bot’s combat prowess and raid enemy nests for precious resources, on your city’s defenses to build an impenetrable fortress, or on your administrative and economic abilities to build a thriving, rich, mega-factory.
Carefully manage your fuel and weight
Keep a close eye on your city’s weight and fuel reserves. Being stranded at the wrong moment is a sure way to become extinct.

A food conveyor was a thing I didn't know I needed in my life until this day.
IKR? Imagine getting pizza or Thai food delivered right to your door, MK5 conveyor belts so it doesn't even get cold! XD
@@KatherineOfSky But you have to consume them as fast as the MK5 conveyor belt get it to you... and then you need also a MK 5 conveyor belt for the trash to get back to the factory ;)
@@ernievandyke4708 haha! I was thinking more of a regular order system, and the combinators would control each delivery so that people would be able to get the item they wanted instead of eating non-stop!
@@KatherineOfSky MK5?!? My goodness. Hopefully those belts come with whatever unknown hidden tech it has where all the individual piles of stuff stay that way. I see an image of along the path there are sprays of food as they catch the wind and become airborne. What finally arrives is an empty plate/box.
There are some sushi restaurants where you can it from a conveyorbelt :D
This game popped up in my recommended queue on Steam today and I immediately hoped that you would play it! A very happy surprise. Delightful video as always, KOS. You have become my favorite person to watch play games and have gotten me into an entirely new genre (factory games) that always seemed too daunting to dive into, but with your tutorials have been so much more approachable. The way you teach people about games is so lovely and refreshing. It is a joy to watch. Thank you for existing!
Thank you so much for the kind words! When I first started factorio, I was *completely overwhelmed* ... as in I got a massive headache when playing, so I could only play an hour at a time. After a bit, I was playing several hours at a time, and then just got completely addicted! Anyway, i understand how you feel and agree that factory games can have a very steep learning curve. I'm so glad you are enjoying them now!
39:38 KoS, my favorite moments in your videos are when the baddies sneak up on you and cause panic. Because, to paraphrase you, the panic is real. 🙂 By which I mean, it's really you--the video is not edited to be like a flawless "speed run" or something, and therefore not forced or fake. I still think about that one Factorio where the biters started attacking your base while you were explaining things (Yellow ... Red ... Red ...) and you didn't notice until they started charging right onto the screen chasing you! "...OH NO!" 😂
HAHA! I remember that episode! Yeah, I really like just showing how I play the game. I'm not afraid to "fail" or do things wrong: to me, it's part of learning and playing a game. I'm so glad you enjoy my style! Thanks for taking time to let me know :-)
@@KatherineOfSky I agree. You come across as so genuine and just enjoying yourself. My favorite KoS quote is "This is a pain in the socks"
I always come here for a better in game tutorial
Thank you!
I second that. I see other people playing this but KOS is more interesting to watch :)
@@MichelleS-Gamer yes, very annoying when watching a let's player fumble around for 20 minutes complaining not knowing how to do anything, when half the time they skipped tutorials
@@GameFuMaster Agreed. Always way better explanation of mechanics from Katherine. Very through. I super appreciate your work. Honestly other "let's players" do the game and themselves a disservice by not thoroughly playing the game before recording. Katherine however she does it seems very well versed with he game ;)
This game looks so fun with you playing! Just to let you know, it looks like one of the Pumptatos Farms is not outputing to the "belt". The same looks with the new Bloodwood production facility. Waiting for the next episode!
Looks like a take on Warptorio from Factorio. Definitely less stressful than that though.
Thanks for the video!
enjoying the lets play as both a tutorial and a brief positive review cause i want sure about buying this game just yet but im 7 minutes in and to be honest it looks right up my ally :) leaving a comment for the algorithm and wanted to add in case you read comments, bloodwood is my second favorite exotic wood right behind purpleheart :D both make gorgeous handles for swords and knives!
Thanks! Indeed they do! However, I almost never use purpleheart because it goes brown after a short while.
@@KatherineOfSky i had heard that too but i bought some a couple years ago now and none of it looks brown to me it just turned into a dark regal purple, but maybe i got a lucky cut of a special tree :)
Hmm, that teleport module, in case you're in a maze, would it really be amazing? Not... de-mazing?
Ba-dum-ts!
Sorry, I'll leave now. Thanks for the great content! 😁
I found that funny!
Ive been subbed for a couple of years because I’ve always enjoyed your content! Loving these new games :)
Glad to hear! .-)
I always look forward to your videos Katherine!
This game combined the aspects of Airborne Kingdoms, Factorio and They Are Billions, especially when enemies began to attack your city.
One of the best Lets Play video’s in UA-cam
Thank you!
Don't know if they buffed them since you recorded this but found that a few towers are actually pretty good defence. They can kill the big monsters in 1-2 shots, so you can snipe off the small ones and leave the big ones to the towers.
thx for the video!
Looks interesting and fun.
Keep them coming Katherine! =D
Wishlisted on Steam when I saw you playing this :)
When I first saw this appear on Steam I immediately thought of an old game from years ago called Perimeter.
Wow the art style is fantastic. Damn you Kos why do you always play games I suddenly need in my life.
(I'm kidding I love it - you introduce me to the best games. I still play Dyson sphere and voxel tycoon. A little bored of spellcaster university even though I still like the game)
XD
You really should also destroy the structures near the "derelict" site for extra goodies :D *edit: I mean the pillars, not the main building
Its a tim burton dream game. Good job with this one lady sky, i look forward to more of this. 🤘👍🤜🤛
Thank you 😁
12:07 YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
In which Katherine of Sky has convinced me to buy yet another game... xD
have fun!
Great Voice, Explains clearly and well, I like it! :)
Thanks! Enjoy!
So the real life name is called a dragon blood tree. Its really awesome looking and its in yemen. Looks beautiful.
In the profession, "Bloodwood" is the name of the tree, also known as "Satine", or the Latin name _Brosmium paraense_. Perhaps "dragon blood" is a regional name? The Bloodwood I am thinking about comes from South America.
@@KatherineOfSky Okay that is a different speices of tree then. Thanks for letting me know. I will look up that tree and see what it looks like lol.
@@uhavemooface It polishes to a beautiful red, very smooth and hard wood.
@@KatherineOfSky I guess they use this wood to make Violins. Sense they don't really have to paint the wood to make it red.
thank you so much for playing. i wanted to buy this game,, but i was afraid. comments said : its very stressfull, dont make fun. if you do something wrong, every thing goes downward.i dont know, how much of it is true. so i will enjoy your playthrough and i mean, on easy, it seems like ok. It was a joy to watch you playing. so i do think, its worth buying. only i hope towers and defense buildings would be more helpful. i really want to play with self defense. like in factorio. without always running to it, with my person roboter* . i am more the passive player these days. so i enjoy a lot of satisfactory , factorio . but i dont want all the bussy stress :P. greetings ;) and nice week. love your vids. everytime helpful and enjoyable.
I've played a couple of test games, so don't expect to get far in your first few attempts. There's definitely a lot to think about when playing. But having said that... it's fun to restart and see how far you can get. It's interesting to chance a difficult planet and see if you can get more interesting materials, etc.
@@KatherineOfSky ty. Yeah its still a rogue like. Have a Nice day.
KoS have you ever played Slipways? 'all the things and all the not things' is very indicative of that game.
haha! No I haven't.
@@KatherineOfSky Slipways might be up your ally. You basically have a a trade empire that connects planets with 'slipways' (interstellar connections) and you have to match resources to demands. But every new resource has its own demands.
Theres different species and tech trees and such.
KatherineOfSky,:Have a Friendly Chat with the locals... Proceeds to face stomp them
Me: Did you learn that from Anakin Skywalker? That sounds like his Aggressive Negotiations
haha, I learned that from gaming friend as we were playing Unrailed... "let me just have a friendly chat with the locals"
Maybe it was just me, but as she was saying she would love to see an on/off switch or power button at 24:58 it seems to me her cursor goes right over a power button which she is asking for.
That's not a power button, it's the amount of weight a building has (only so much weight can fit on the platform for liftoff)
Maybe I missed something here:
Raw ressorces cant be carried along when you move the city, but processed ones
can you still load them into your core ?
and are they just get dumped ?
or cant you start at all with them in there at all ?
If you could still insert it into the core, why not feed all into there, and route them from there to the different buildings ? eg bloodwood -> core -> woodworkers to make planks -> core
You can store raw materials in the base, but they get dumped when flying, so there's no real reason to load them into the core. I guess it depends on your layout, though. As we will see, sometimes the closest wood mine is on the opposite side of the base, so it can be beneficial to have a belt straight to the core. Good for a buffer as well
@@KatherineOfSky it was intended as both as a buffer, and as a simplication - you could prepare the infrastucture on your platform and just "dump" all the ressources inside the core - kinda similar to the TradeHubs in Dyson Sphere
This game looks like Mindustry so far.
Very very different from Mindustry. It is in the factory game genre, though.
@@KatherineOfSky I thought the tower defense-like aspects and transporting resources to the central core were similar.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of this series !
@@range3 I used to love mindustry but the logic update ruined it for me. Im too stupid to program mining bots and stuff and get booty kicked playing online
9:37 @KOS then they would need to call em "convinience belts"
You got big brain i want more plz
Nice :) Looks a bit like the Warptorio Mod for Factorio :D
I have a theory on why the "fractions" are reversed at the top. The overall result should be >1, so that's why the goal is on the left and the current result is on the right.
Hmmm, I have to say it's confusing: not a fan.
Hey Katherine? If I use the creator code on the link provided, does it provide a discount? It's not applying anything.
No, unfortunately, there is no extra discount. THe creator code just sends me a tiny bit of money, but it doesn't cost you extra. Basically taking money out of the game store's pocket (not the dev), and giving it to me.
thanks!
Interesting, reminds me (quite a bit) of The Riftbreaker, but still unique enough to give it some flavor.
Agreed, it definitely has those elements. The main difference, I feel, is the transport of materials, needing rails, carts, etc.
I want to hear more about your wood working.
Sure!
Katherine! I dont need more games in my backlog!!!
HAHAHA! XD
what a dam beautiful voice. I was about to click off but u snared my heart. I AM IN LOVE🥰
Aww, thank you.
@@KatherineOfSky 😮i can't believe u respond
Mortal Engines is coming in my mind.
First impressions: Factorio, but Nightmare Before Christmas themed!
hahaha! I love that comparison!
40:00 tiny bit my ass XDDDDD
If I were you, I would have called it "The Limit", bacause the Sky is the limit :)
haha
yeeees i'm first.....never mind. there where 319 before me.....
hahaha
Random comment for channel interaction.
This style of game is starting to get popular; Factorio, then Dyson Sphere Project, now this.
You have nice voice
Thanks!
You a girl?
Why do you ask?
Immediately I don't like how you're playing. You're wasting time which drives me nuts personally. If a game has a pause button I would abuse that so much. I doubt this game has one so the fact you waste time by explaining every little thing just annoys me so much.
must suck to be you
poor guy
@speed demon If you don't like my presentation style, you should find a different content creator to watch. There are millions of channels on YT and i'm sure there is one to your liking ;-)
A tutorial playthrough would probably be less tutorial-y without the tutorial part…so… I’m guessing most people will disagree with your opinion.
