Now I want to see an orbital ring.
Yes
With a lot of time, it might work using this technique, but I don’t think you could do anything cool with it. You’d still only see 2.5km of segments, and you wouldn’t be able to drive on it or anything cause it’s orbital. I don’t think you could even dock to it without running the risk of loading physics from a new root part.
the people have spoken. Its now in the todo list!
Hi Cody :D
good taste in channels I see
@@ryanrising2237 maybe you could drive on the inside of the ring, at high enough speeds the craft might stick to it.

Incredible that you pulled this off! I love how several rhino engines comprises a singe RCS unit. And that’s a brilliant technique with the terrain clipping and no physics due to root part distance

Wow, that's a really nice find with the loading of crafts. Now it should be possible to make a stock space elevator. :D

I hope this will be possible in KPS2 without to use any bugs, glitches and as one big part.

This video was phenomenal, I really loved how you edited it, especially the simultaneous launches, that was really awesome. The end product of the bridge looked amazing, those ramps might as well be a generated structure with how well they work. Fantastic work!!
I would like to see someone make a space elevator or a perfectly straight line that would appear to gradually get farther away from a planet or moon because of their curvature. Maybe it could use this neat trick.

Complexity-wise, this seems like one of the more simpler builds you've made. Implementation-wise? Probably the coolest thus-far. God damn dude, good job!

Just goint to Dres the first time currently. And your video shows what makes KSP so unique and interesting: It is fun to experiment, to learn and to build stuff. And to fight the Kraken (that physics in KSP sometimes is).
For a while I've been thinking how I'd like to do this on Dres or over the Mohole, but it'd be an impossible build.
Stratzenblitz: What's impossible?

I hate that I laughed at that rolling with it joke. Loved the rest of the video, I always wonder where you get the ideas and techniques.
Absolutely stunning work!! Always amazes me that people can be this creative and ambitious in ksp!!
copyright sucks D:
Now this has some potential. Its actually feasible to build colonies in ksp with the physics trick. used to be stuff would just randomly explode because of clipping while loading in on the surface, especially with big crafts that have a lot of flex.
This is awesome. Imagine small city builds sent to either side, making it useful/functional. Would be one of the most epic KSP achievements.
The engineblocks on those bridge segments reminds of how you do thrust in Space Engineers, i love it
you earned a subscriber just for the first minutes of the video... and i can't explain my face and my joy when i saw cody'sfuck1nglab and the man [ley] themselves commenting. incredible!
Absolutely amazing video as usual blitz, and I absolutely love the commentaries where you explain the mechanics of your mission, but you should probably still make the usual music montage videos, I'm afraid these don't have the sort of broader appeal they have, and wont get as many views
Of course that depends if you think a mission is worth the extra time for the editing, but I'll say that your video's "Jeb's vacation" is still one of my favorite videos on your channel, even if it was a simpler one, but the choice of music, crafts, and good job on the camera angles really made something special
Anyways keep up the good work 👍
Thanks!
I've found that in recent times, my commentary videos have been doing much better than cinematics, so that's part of why I've been making more of them. Plus, I like doing commentaries more: I feel like I've done enough with cinematics at this point and there's not a whole lot more I can do with them. With a commentary, I can tell a story of how I developed the project.
@@Stratzenblitz75
That's why I said to consider doing both, I really like the commentaries so I wouldnt want to see them go away, but I also really do like the cinematics, and I feel like it would be a huge shame if you stopped doing them completely since you were so good at it
Again I would say it comes down to if you think its worth making them on a per mission basis, for some missions it might not be worth the extra editing, but if you do stuff like Kerbol-0, Halcyon or Helios Mk4 again, it would be almost crazy not to do a cinematic (as for the views, those got over a million view each so its not an unfounded fear)
This type of stuff (in my humble opinion) is really what made your channel, a combination of a lot of game knowledge, a lot of work to do crazy missions using that game knowledge, and a lot of talent at making good films about them, with good music, passing, and camera angles
Whereas commentaries are more for ksp nerds (which I am, but you get what I mean), they dont have the same "wow factor" as the cinematics
@@Stratzenblitz75 On another topic, I have a few video ideas and challenges, ranked from least to most intresting:
Back in the days I made a landpseeder, that could go fast over hilly terrain, it managed to travel reliably at 135 m/s, but that was using the old aircraft wheels, with the new ones it starts breaking at 89 m/s, the way it worked is that it had a cabin, with two mk1 fuselages on either side, rover wheels that it would use to move around, and airplane wheels it could lower to push the rover wheels off the ground, and start speeding accross the terrain with jets and downforce
So this challenge is: how fast can you reliably go over the hills behind the KSC, using only stock parts?
*good for commentary:
*
A submarrine speed record, how fast can you make an underwater craft go using stock parts (lets say the distance of the nearest point between the desert and grass continent, its short enough it wouldnt take too long to play, and long enough it would be a practical distance to travel)
*good for commentary:
*
A boat endurance test, good old boating in KSP, how far can you travel on sea with somewhat heavy payloads, the only rule is no aircrafts that are basically flying lest for one tiny part touching the water, (maybe its possible to go forever with solar pannels? you still need a heavy enough payload, so the weight and thrust constraints are something you need to engineer around)
*good for cinematics and commentary:*
Using the same technique as this video, trying to make a Gilly Space elevator (smallest planetoid to reduce the ammount of work and parts needed, of course you pick whichever one you want)
*good for commentary
:*
An electric plane endurance test, how far can you go using only eletric power with a good ammount of kerbal passengers using only electric charge?
*good for cinematics and commentary:
*
An Electric SSTO, that doesnt use any chemical fuel
.
in the same spirit as the "Duna on electric power" video and the Helios Mk4, but since blowing up an entire Helios every time you want to launch must get expensive for the KSC, trying the same concept, without any decoupling, explosive or otherwise, at least not before you reach orbit, is it possible, can you do it? I dont know but it seems like a really great challenge up your alley, again something no one has ever managed to do
And my favorite one:
*good for cinematics and commentary:*
An update on the amazing Laythe helicarrier, trying to make a new helicarrier that could stay in the air forever, using only electric charge and RTGs/Solar pannels/batteries, this could mean that you could put it on Laythe (always a pretty planetoid), but it would also mean that you could build a permanent landing pad in the Atmosphere of Eve or Jool, something that has NEVER been done without mods, and would be amazing (I assume you would need some KSP craft loading wizardry to make it stay there after take off), but it would be the goal, a platform that can float forever in the Atmosphere of Jool, that you can land on
I know kerbals can pick up "science landed at" a body when standing on a craft instead of the ground, and RTG powered helicopters are possible, so would it be possible to:
>make a floating platform that can support its own weight, as well as the weight of vehicles able to reach Jool Orbit, on its own power?
>Somehow make it able to unload without being destroyed for "craft deep in atmosphere"
>bonus points for being able to take Jool surface samples from it
Anyways, here are my suggestions for challenges, like this comment if one of them intrests you :D! 👍
@@anonymous-rb2sr Thanks for the ideas, I'll add them to the list! A submarine is something I should revist again. And also, eletric to orbit is something I've been thinking about too.
As far as cinematics, yes my older cinematics have done well, but recently that has not been the case. In the past year, my only successful videos have been commetary ones. Such as the 33 seconds to orbit, which has surpassed 1 M views. By contrast, my other cinematics such as Arrakeen and Eve Infinity 2 have done poorly considering the work it took to make them.
As a creator, I do need to be adaptable to what people want. If cinematics don't do well, it is not worth my time to make them. Especially considering I could make 2-3 commentary videos for the same effort and get more views with them.
@@Stratzenblitz75 Glad to hear some of my ideas pickekd your intrest
As for the whole commentary/cinematics debate, I still maintained it would be a tragedy if you stopped making them completely, a big part of the awesome content on youtube would go away, and its even more sad if you make that decision because of percieved changes to the algorithm
I am more a fan of the "making content to create something amazing, no matter how much attention it gets (though more is of course better)" rather than the "lets try to hack the algorithm for views and who cares what the final product is" approach, because, I mean, if you only care about the aglorithm, might as well delete all your videos and start paying bulgarians to make thousands of spiderman and elsa videos for you on the cheap, or start a youtube kids channel
I am exagerating of course, but it's to illustrate my point of where trying to appeal to an algorithm for mo' views brings you, its not gonna be a rewarding job, and by trying to follow around a glitched aglorithm made by incompetent sociopaths you'll lose your motivation
Maybe a nice middleground is what ua-cam.com/video/NAG74Q7Rl2o/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Eastory Eastory did and explained in this video, he managed to get a lot of success without going out of his way too much
As for why the last 2 cinematics didnt get as many views, I dont really think it has to do with the algorithm change, rather than someting as simple as the topic and yes, thumbnail
The helicarrier and Kerbol both have amazing thumbnails, what is going on is clearly visible, there are some nice graphics design, the color coordination is on point etc, when you compare it to the sea lvl ssto video, not so much, the graphic designs are gone, and its from so far away you have a hard time understanding what it is, or if its even related to KSP, I think trying to shoot the craft in a good way matters a lot, for example just on the thumbnail alone, the difference betweenthe EVE SSTO and the Orbit in 33 seconds is crazy, with the orbit in 33 second one, even the thumbnail serves as clickbait, you see tons of huge rockets all attached together in a kerbal way with a huge exhaust plume speeding up away from the ground, same with the mars infinity one, for the Halcyon vid, most peopke know what an Helicarrier is, and can recognize it instantly from a quick glance, instantly you understand what the title and thumbnail claim, and the fact it was done in KSP is so amazing it makes you want to clik the video, with the more recent ones, not so much
Another aspect that I think had a lot of influence on the views, and why I dont think it had anything to do with an algorith change at all, and it might hurt to read, but its just that the topic itself wasnt as intresting
The Duna City video took a lot of work, but from the thumbnail you wouldnt even realize it was KSP, and the title is very long so it doesnt display fully either, I had it in my recommended section for like a month but I didnt even realize it was a video from you, and when I did, I wasnt overly exceited either, since even after realize what it was... it was just a very big Duna base, not fundamentally different from a regular one, excpt the size of the crafts, and when watching it the music choice and montage wasnt as intresting either, compare ua-cam.com/video/W4L2sIYR_3M/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/kPprYMcS5lA/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/Ee59XkEufjA/v-deo.html to ua-cam.com/video/qOo5ipRDoQE/v-deo.html
yeah... not the same thing at all, even just the level of energy alone is completely different
All that to say that you shouldnt just blame the algorithm right off the bat and discount all the other explanations for the discrempency in views, all cinematics arent made equal, and to give you a viewer's feedback, who has been here since the start, I wasnt as excited at all when the Duna base cinematic game out compared to the Helicarrier one, I even showed the good cinematics to all my IRL friends, and they loved them, while I relunctantly watched the Duna cinematic in a moment where I was starved for content long after it had stopped showing up in my recommended, by manually going back to my favorite channels and seing if I had missed any videos
So I wouldnt give up on cinematics just because a few ones didnt perform as well, and again it might hurt to hear with all the work that went into them, but I suspect they didnt do as well because they werent as intresting to watch and as amazing and groundbreaking as the other ones, as well as the thumbnail not making it clear what the video was, my closing words being that I find that in general, how amazing I found your videos to be relate very strongly to the ammount of views they got, rather than the type of video they were
At the end of the day, it's your time and your content, but if it was the end of Stratzenblitz cinematics, it would be a very big oof moment, if you get what I mean
I ll be on the lookout for a floating base video regardless :D
You put in so much effort to build some amazing stuff. I love watching your videos!
People do some mad shit on KSP; I managed to land a little self-contained base station on the Mun and thought I was doing alright, but this is ridiculous :D
I am both inspired and dispirited by this, top job.
Damn, this is crazy. I wonder what crazy crap can be done when KSP2 comes out.
Glad to see the One Thud to -rule them all- Dres make its’ triumphant return!
Such an ingenious way to manipulate the engine! I assume this could be used to go vertical as well, you could make an actual space elevator. It would only have to be 2863km long to get to Kerbin orbit :P
You, my friend, is a very bright-minded individual with a signs of a true explorer.
