I think the avocado one was a lot of fun, but don't think i'll be trying it again anytime soon! A better hack for parchment in a tin, fold the parchment in half 4 times, put the point in the center of the tin and cut the excess. When you unfold it, the parchment will fit the bottom of the tin, near perfectly.
I bet the lemons would hold onto a lot more juice if they were roasted cut side up! Maybe in a muffin/cupcake tin, to keep them from rolling around? And frying pieces of rice paper the same way makes something like chips/crisps!
I bet you can use the whisk to slice the avocado. I know they have gadgets for that and you can use a knife but that might an interesting way to do something simple.

The way Mrs B says "Yeah?" in a slightly worried tone as Barry explains a replacement for popcorn makes me think I know where their daughter totally gets her mannerisms.
Two tips: you can grill lemons for lemonade as well, and the sushi back is easier in a silicone or other flexible ice tray. No wasted plastic and easier to remove.
I can't speak for any Asian folks, but gosh darn are bits of fried noodle ever tasty in a salad. Bok choy, fried noodle bits, almond slices and some simple vinaigrette make for an amazing little salad.
I was holding my breath as Barry beat the whisk against the side of the glass bowl. I kept expecting to see avocado & shards of glass go flying everywhere.
@@suzz1776 Make sure you use the walnut and not the shell! Like the part you eat! Haha, hope you understand, don't know if it works tho, have just seen other people try it

The fried vermicelli is a favourite dish in some parts of China, Hong Kong and South East Asia. Just look up Ying Yang noodles. It's stirfried flat rice noodles and crispy fried rice vermicelli doused in an egg gravy. My favourite childhood dish.

Hi Barry, I’ve been a fan for the longest time, but tonight I am watching this a bit tipsy and I just have to thank you for being one of the main things that makes me happy in my life, I know this isn’t the place to do this, but thank you so much for making me laugh and making me happy
When my dad was a young boy, his babysitter had taught his brother and him to roast marshmallows with the toaster. They decided a few days later to make some before my grandma woke up. One caught fire and fell on the table, which caught the table linens on fire, and my grandmother was awakened my my dad yelling, "Mommy, the table's cooking!!!"
Best way to line cake tin. Grease the tin, add some flour and shake round the tin so it sticks to the butter. No need to bother with parchment paper again
My sisters and I used to roast marshmallows over a burner of the stove. If you touch it to the burner, it will catch fire and then you get that char you love so much. It is also very much easier to clean up if it drops onto the burner.
I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one who blends the whole lemon for lemonade! Everyone always thinks I’m gross and crazy for doing that, but it tastes so much better!
Thank you for the popcorn substitute.. My autistic son and I are moving in with my mother who is 81, we love to have popcorn movie nights but she can not eat popcorn for health reasons.. I feel like this will give us a chance for a shared movie night that we can ALL enjoy.
I was a professional pastry chef, the parchment scrunching method is great for blind baking tart cases, I tend to use the fold and trim method where you fold it in to quarters and in half again put the point into the centre of the tin and trim the edge! Perfect every time!
The sushi hack had me so confused. That kind of sushi done “properly” looks like less effort as it’s just shape a rough rectangle of rice and place a slice of tuna or salmon on top 😅 although seeing Mrs B try and contain herself over the mess was amusing
Probably ate so many of them in the 1970's that it wasn't good for me. We loved Vesta dried ingredient meals, and must have eaten literally tons of the things. To a small kid (me at the time), those expanding noodles were actual magic.
I think I have a feeling how those household appliances feel from the brave little toaster movie singing it a bmovie but it's Barry ruining/mistreated them for cooking hacks/ideas rather than ripping them apart.
When I made roasted lemonade before, I roasted the lemons in the same pan that I used to make the simple syrup in. That way, none of the juice or oils were lost. Awesome way to make lemonade!
If you're going to do lemonade with the whole lemon, if you slice it thin (on a mandolin ideally) and let it sit with the sugar covered for a full day, a lot of the bitterness will go away. We do this for a type of lemon pie where you use everything but the pips and it's never bitter.
I think I'll be trying those rice noodles soon. I bet they'd be really good if you used a flavor enhanced oil of some kind. But I'll probably just add flavor on top since it's easier.
For baking paper in the cake tin, I always fold it in half, then in half the other way, then in a triangle and I keep halving the triangle until it’s quite thin and then cut it roughly half the length of the tin and if you keep the point the same the whole time it makes a circle

Totally agree. As a food scientist, she has vast information!
She’s fantastic at debunking (but also giving credit to things that work).

Oh My God I totally love her content!!!
I thought immediately about her too. I became aware of her in the comments on UA-cam somewhere.
Some of the tricks she cover is scary as well.

That "lemonade" is fundamentally upsetting.
Is this a British thing? Blitzing up the whole lemon? I've never seen that and can't look at it and call it lemonade. More like a lemon puree.
In Canada we use the juice of the lemon. Less bitter.
