About
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Beatles were an iconic British rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. Comprising John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, they became a global cultural phenomenon, revolutionizing music with their innovative sound, poignant lyrics, and distinct personalities. "Something," a track from their 1969 album "Abbey Road," is one of George Harrison's most celebrated compositions. The song stands out for its soulful melody, heartfelt lyrics, and intricate guitar work, demonstrating Harrison's growth as a songwriter. "Something" achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, further solidifying The Beatles' legacy as one of the greatest and most influential bands of all time.

1969. All of them under 30, George was only 26 and they were about to split up. In just 7 years they wrote and recorded over 200 songs.
David Gilmour 'The Beatles were a miracle'
McCartney's bass playing is what makes this song for me!
Three big hits. Wonderful Tonight as well. George and Patti were drifting apart and both having affairs. When Patti left to go with George's best friend Eric Clapton, George was asked how he felt about it and said 'I would rather she was with my best friend than someone I don't know'. They all remained friends for the rest of their lives with George buying Patti a house when she hit hard times later in life. Frank Sinatra described Something as the greatest love song of the last 50 years..
Along with Yesterday two of the greatest songs ever written
My Sweet George ❤❤🎸🎸🎸
For me, this is one of the 5 greatest songs written by The Beatles, simply beautiful
you are listening to the greatest love song of all time
It is definitely up there!
Clapton wrote Layla while George and Pattie were still together. Harrison wrote other songs about Patti...as did Clapton (Wonderful Tonight being one that springs to mind). Patti ended up getting with Ronnie Wood later on and he also wrote her a song or two. Patti is probably the woman with more songs about her than anybody else...even though Courtney Love has more about her than you'd think!
One of my favorites written for Patti is Clapton’s Bell Bottom Blues. She asked him when he came back from America to please bring her some bell bottoms.
For Frank Sinatra this is the most beautiful love song ever
George's wife-here Patti Boyd (she, Yoko, LInda and Maureen were ALL wives at the time) he met five years earlier when the Beatles were making their first movie, _A Hard Day's Night._ She can be seen in it in the train dining car scene where she says, "Prisoners?" and a bit later in the scene when they sing "I Should Have Known Better".
George actually played at Patti and Eric Claptons wedding. He had a forgiving heart.
Actually, George, Paul, Ringo & Denny Laine played some songs including "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
when it's true love nothing really matters
YEAH---AND WONDERING EYES, HE HAD AN AFFAIR WITH RINGO'S WIFE, AND GEORGES SECOND WIFE SAID, GEORGE HAD MANY AFFAIRS WHEN MARRIED TO HER ,ALSO.
NO WONDER HE WASN'T PUT-OUT BY HIS BEST MATE, ERIC, TAKING PATTI OFF HIM.
Not at their wedding. The wedding took place in Tucson Arizona in March 1979. None of the Beatles attended. George, Paul and Ringo attended a party at Clapton's home in England two months later.
One thing that almost everyone misses about this video is that at no point are any of the Beatles together. The video only shows the various Beatles with their various wives/girlfriends. The four Beatles were apparently not getting along at all -- they agreed to shoot scenes for the promo film as long as they didn't have to be with each other.
Yeah! They certainly were not getting along as 2 of The Beatles were dead when this video was compiled - 50 years after the release of the record.
@jcb640 this is the same video shown on tv in the 60s when the song was released
There is a photo shot of them all together from this day. The photos are used in the more recently created video for Here Comes The Sun
Or it was, you know, an artistic choice.
@@jcb640 the footage was shot and compiled in late October/early November 1969 specially for this promo video. It was screened on TV at that time.
"Something", one of (if not THE) most covered song by other artists ever.
I Am So Happy 😁 That Paul McCartney Talked John Lennon Into Being "The Beatles🥁🥁🎸🎸🎹🎹🎼🎵🎶 ONE MORE TIME!😁
AND THANK YOU ELVIS PRESLEY FOR COVERING "SOMETHING".😁
I Would Have Never Discovered "The Beatles" Without Elvis Presley Singing "Something" In His "Aloha From Hawaii " Concert In January 1973.
Original Airdate Was In April 1973 , Here In The United States 🇺🇲 Because January 14, 1973 Was SuperBowl 7 .
So My Father 🧑🏻 Was A Huge Elvis Presley Fan!🧑🏻😁😎
Thank You Paul McCartney.🥁🎸🎹🎼🎵🎶😎😎
I Am Typing This At 1:10 a.m. , Wednesday Morning 🌛🌉🌃🌌 , May 1, 2024.
What are you talking about? John invited Paul to join the Quarrymen and it was John and Stu who came up with the name Beatles. What did Paul have to talk John into? John was the one who decided to go with Brian Epstein, and despite protests to the contrary in the 70s was fully on board with the image change at the time. The only thing I can think of that John had to be talked into, was switching Pete for Ringo and that was spearheaded by George, but Paul was a part of the talking him into it process at least.
Great song, despite the associated gossip columnist heaven
George and Patti didn’t separate for another 4-5 years after this was written and recorded.
According to George in a 1995 interview, the song wasn't about Patti but a generic love. He would know! Paul's bass lines were busier than George wanted but ultimately perfect for the lyrics. Ringo's drum patterns propelled the song along and Billy Preston's organ parts fit like a glove. George's iconic guitar solo is the stuff of legends and Martin's string arrangement the icing on the cake. A winner all round!
My father in law knew Lennon and macca. This is my fave Beatles song. Patty was lovely. Nobody writes like this no more….too many ai robot crubbish
What a killer bass line by Paul....
The first line was nicked from a James Taylor song 'Something in the Way She Moves'. Taylor was recording for the Beatles label 'Apple' at he time.
George stated he did not write this about Patty, just a general love song.
"Wonderful Tonight" and "Bell Bottom Blues" by Clapton were also about Patti Boyd as was "For You Blue" by Harrison. Also, I would highly recommend listening to the songs without videos. The videos were after the fact and actually distract from the music.
How the years have flashed by OMG life is so short. Enjoy every moment you can my friends.
A little background on the video, it was filmed after John said he was leaving the band the same time Something was released. When you see Paul & George looking grungy it's because they were both in major depression and hardly getting out of bed for a time or even bathing. The video was spliced together I believe today they call it editing. This is because it was shot on their own homes due to the breakup. Although John is the one who broke them up it was at the instigation and persistence of his wife Yoko Ono. Incidentally, Pattie did leave George but not until the early 70's. Later on she regretted the decision.
"When I think about Beatles I usually think about short hair."
That's a sentence I never thought I'd hear.
Hahaha.
Beatles cover.
A hard days night.
Peter sellers. 😊😊😊😊
That's hilarious but what's it got to do with the price of fish?
I hate the gossip that people who claim to know these artists hearts.
"Something" - The Best by George.
You need to check out the live version he did in 2008 when he did a concert in Liverpool for the capital of culture, great crowd interaction.
Steph mentions their "short hair" as moptops. At the time, parents were shocked by their long hair. The press asked them if it was real hair or wigs.
The part about Eric and Patti didn't happen until 3 or 4 years after this song.
McCartney’s bass line is the silent force behind this song if you really listen.
He makes that bass sing.
Patti’s sister Jennifer also had a song written about her called. “Jennifer Juniper” (By Donovan who taught John a style of Fingerpicking guitar used on Dear Prudence)
Wow! I had no idea!!
I love Ringos drumming here.
But surely not first time listening, right? That’s inconceivable.
As I have stated on here before... Believe it! She led an EXTREMELY sheltered life...
@@aviewfromthestage ….Yikes!
Layla is Clapton's side of this situation.
Between George and Eric Clapton, Patti Boyd has had more songs written about her than any other person in history. If I needed someone, I need you, For you blue, Something, /wonderful tonight, Layla, bellbottom blues are just a handful about Patti.
I think Jesus might have her beat in that regard!
Top selling musicians of all time.
You laughed (friendly!) when noticing Paul, Linda and that dog goofing around! Dog's name;: Martha! Find the song about this dog on the so called "White Album" :-)
Ha! Wow! We will definitely look into it!
Paul McCartney sings the
finished or record version.
George would sing some of
it during the writing, to sound
out the phrasing, etc. and that
was recorded as standard
procedure, but not used on
the album.
Sounds like you're saying Paul sang this on this studio version? He didn't, it's George.
More fake news
Are you out of your mind?
Many songs wete written about Patti.😊😊
Something then que into Here Comes the Sun.
George and Patti remained friends up until the he died. After she hooked up with Eric Clapton, they became good friends also. And yes, Yoko did break up the band!
Well, it depends on your definition of "soon". They would be married another 5 yrs, about half of their marriage overall to go. But yes, the spectre of Eric Clapton was already on the horizon and in a few months would be making his intentions known. But Patti had NO idea at this time.
Frank Sinatra loved this. True.
Sadly the history has made this sad , and not just a love song
Flipped Clapton photo.fwiw.
It can’t all be blamed at on Pattie. There was a lot of partying, drugs, and infidelity going around. Eric and George remained friends. George played at their wedding. They referred to each other as husbands-in-laws.
Frank Sinatra called this his favourite song to sing.
I find it interesting that out of all the Beatle wives to last until death do us part, only Linda and Yoko were the ones to make it there. AKA the foreign wives.
And of the original wives, only Patti is still alive herself.
She left George and married his best friend Eric Clapton what a friend
Very white of him
Well, there would be no need, to worry about anything. The Beatles had tons of women...
Given George’s point of view…Patti was just another bit of the earth….The muck and mire…he got over it quickly…
George wasn't a jealous guy when it came to Eric but, he did have a problem with Ron Wood making moves on Patti. Then again, George had an affair with Maureen Starr. From what I have read, John and Paul were not pleased with George messing with Ringo's wife.
Those darn philanderin Beatles!!
Frank Sinatra called this the most romantic song ever.
Annd he was CORRECT!
My wife has just run off with my wife.
I'm going to miss him.
It's that joke isn't it?
didn't Harrison nick her off Eric Clapton..?
Other way around. But in those days... everyone was pretty loosey goosey. She would go on to say that George was the love of her life. She would ALWAYS love him. Sadly, he died in the early 2000's.. sooo..
Please stop making things up. The longer each of your Beatles reaction videos go, the more ludicrous your claims become. You can see George working on Something in the film Get Back, in 1968. Clapton wrote Layla, about his desire for Patti in 1970, but his love was unrequited. She rejected his advances and Clapton turned to heroin. It was not until 1974 that Patti left George and took up with Eric, and she had a major affair with Ronnie Wood before that. They finally married in 1979. Also, although 4-5 years separate the British Invasion in 1964 and Something, the British Invasion does not mark the start of the Beatles. Their first proper single charted in the Uk in 1962.
