i agree as a Giannis fan after he becomes a solid threat from mid-range, the next step is the free throw and if he ever get to a consistent high 70s - low 80s % then he can think of adding the threes back
The inconsistency in attempts each game is all about how the defense plays him. He shoots midrangers mostly when they give him space. These are wide open shots, that is why he has a good percentage. But not all defenses give him that space. Giannis is intelligent enough to see it and exploit something else in that game.
I refer to those facing the rim top of the key or elbows. He has space and height advantage over his opponents, so it is like being wide open. The turn arounds are of course contested, but he started shooting these since 20-21 and I don't think they are as efficient anyways. The straight ups facing the rim are those that provide an offensive advantage as the opponent must choose either to give space (wide open shot) or play up (blow by).
I love Giannis, but I can't for the life of me figure out why it's so hard to get a better shooting form and free throw percentage. Is it a mental blockade?
I don’t think it’s mental, it’s statistically proven that players with bigger shoulders and hands have a hard time shooting in general. Guys like Shaq, Ben Wallace, LeBron at times, etc. There’s a lot of restriction for them, so it looks awkward when they shoot.
Some people are just worse shooters than others bro at least he has a midrange. His free throws this season are definitely not good by his standards I agree he should bring that up
It makes sense for Giannis to develop a mid-range before a three, he's been dunking and taking close shots his whole career, but now he's slowly moving further back with some of his shots and at good efficiency, once he can make long midranges effectively it won't be hard for him to develop a three
In my opinion, If Giannis will succeed with his plan, He'll be Pistons Blake Griffin 2.0 A Power Forward which can do it all on the offensive end but with better defense. Very interested to see how it'll play out.
Its been always hard for wide, big handed players to shoot Free throws+F.G in general, its cause the ball is too small formthir hand size.Big examples Shaquille Oneil,Mutombo,Robert Parrish,Zion etc.(i said these names cause they havw or had the biggest size of hands!!Jokic or Embiid,Porzingis KAT etc have shorter enough size of hands...
It's generally believed that a player's ft% shows how good of a jump shooter they really are, because it's an unopposed jump shot. But Giannis' motion is different - he has a lot of wrist action in his ft shooting. Also he has too much time to think. His motion is better on jump shots. If Giannis does develop a reliable mid range shot, it's natural to go back to the 3. The drop off in shooting percentage between a long 2 and a 3pt shot isn't much, but the payoff is 50% more points. And finally - Jordan added a jump shot as he got older. It was a reliable shot, but he was mechanical. Pippen was a far more fluid shooter. Fluidity can also come with repetition. As he shoots more, he thinks less and just shoots.
GIANNIS PLEASE NO THREES!!! WE ENJOY THE GAME THE WAY YOU PLAY NOW...!! DO NOT FOLLOW THE TRADES! BE YOURSELF AS ALWAYS THE KID IN HEART AND IN PLAYING
Giannis needs to learn bank shots. Rather than improving his 3, he needs to go the Tim Duncan route to extend his longevity. He's the modern day David Robinson, physique and play-wise, and if he keeps that up, he'll retire as early as the Admiral too at 14 years.
Stephen A. Smith once said back in 2022 that the reason why the NBA likes Jokic over Giannis is because nobody knows what Jokic is going to be. Giannis is going to be Giannis while Jokic is a big question mark, is he going to change or evolve his game?
I think he has been too stubborn about that. My guess is that he wants to figure it out on his own. Dirk's shooting coach offered his services years ago. But also Buck's ownership should have shelled out for one of the top shooting coaches back when Giannis made his first all star team.

They aren't wide open. Many of his shots are heavily contested

@@pmaragoudakis hes been hitting fade away jumpers all season. Watch the games
Stop lying, you can actually watch every attempt
watch his highlights against the pacers, his shots were contested
At 28% from 3, he only needs to hit over 42% from 2 to beat that. So the math adds up. There's nothing mysterious here.

I think partially the bulk up and in terms of free throws it’s often more about the mental side of things
free throw issue is 100% mental, shooting form might look a bit weird but it's working this year

I think it’s mental. I think one of his teammates once said he does better in practice.

That’s a good shout. Although BG was heavily affected by injuries by the time he got to Detroit. Giannis is a step ahead with this plan
More likely he moves to center.
nice vid!

His mid range shot looks smooth af. Way better form than his free throw

Giannis next level needs to be his ft%
6:40 thanasis does not in fact know what it's like to play 35 min/game and carry an NBA team for a season
4:10 Wemby flexing is the funniest sh!t ever🤣🤣🤣
what camra do you use your video quailty is insaily good
It dont matter what my man do. He can stay pretty and beat everybody.
He needs to work on his free-throw percentage, and more on the mid-range. Get Lethal Shooter to help😂
The mid range is death to winning.
Simple improvement for his jumper is stopping his head tilt
Bro love giannis for this wish ant would do the same
Yeah great idea, I would love to see Giannis Bird instead of Giannis Curry
his shot was smoother before he got swole 😂

Watch his first 2 years in games and more natural he shot…
I mean he most def can, lebron can shoot so giannis should be able to aswell
why you just stole basketnews video and just uploaded like its yours?
This is BasketNews’ 2nd channel buddy 😅
He lowkey a LeBron disciple just watch
Sorry he is in his own style 😂😂😂
Giannis is consistently being top 3 in the world so be quiet
Gainnis needa get in the lab with lethal shooter so he can understand it now
I think he has been too stubborn about that. My guess is that he wants to figure it out on his own.

Also if Giannis does get a reliable jumper, he can bring back the Dream Shake.
@@recoil53Didn't he already do that in the 22 off-season?
@@Lightdragon773 The Dream Shake or getting a shooting coach? I don't think either has happened. He just uses the Bucks' in house guy.
@recoil53 Hakeem was last off-season when the Bucks got Dame
Oppenheimer is a terrorist who ruined Giannis jump shot so it's a good thing he's let go.
So basically he is just doing Kobe
Good important, but the traveling needs to be called by the refs. Goes for everyone in the league
he aint wemby
