I love the point you made about how Guilty Gear is able to tell a story about "anybody being a hero" through diverse character designs and general diversity among the cast, either via personality, nationality, their past/history or gender. It's that diversity and at times progressiveness that makes Guilty Gear characters so interesting, something that also seems to be taken from the franchises metal roots.
Thanks and indeed the developers went quite deep into the character backgrounds and posed some interesting concepts, which IMO more fighting games could learn from.
Metal and fighting games go so well together. Guilty Gear has one of the best soundtracks out there. Also didn't realise the art style is based on heavy metal, but its very apparent now
Believe in Daisuke's vision. Metal and Guilty gear goes hand in hand Strive is such a game, I enjoy it Asuka at the end of this month I fail to understand the hate a great game like Strive gets but I'll just keep on rocking. The art the music the lore I grew up in the 90s so Ive experienced Guilty gear and I wouldn't be having fun playing Guilty gear without Daisuke. People will always complain about a game but I just keep playing. Sf6 I'm planning to play but my heart belong to Guilty gear always, great video
Whoa, you're truly the first person to correct me on that, Thanks! To give some context; normally I say it in the Dutch way, A Ni mé, I thought, can't be for English right? haha, boy was I wrong. So it's like An ime. Again thanks -> I'll reprogram my brain.
The part of the video when you described so well how GG's characters speaks to us was awesome, anybody can be a hero even in different perspectives about what they fight for, and they bring the concept of humanity as failures too, great appointment. I think Guilty Gear has so much dedication in lore, character's construction, art design and music that, looking at the majority of fighting games structure, they didn't even have to go so deep, but this is what make this franchise so unique. If others fighting game follow this example, it would really enchance them as well.
So one detail left out was the manga that influenced Daisuke Ishwatari ...and that's BASTARD!!! It's a manga that was released in the 80s and utilized the use of Heavy metal bands and Rock as magical attacks, summons and more! ( Yes it was an Ova series series and the 2 season series is on Netflix!) Even the character designs were a major influenced; such as Kall-Su into Ky Kiske( even using the same attack Ride the Lightning) Polno Diano inspiring aspects of I-No and nearly every Holy Order member using Larz outfit ( Princess Sheilas brother) from Ky, Sol, Kliff, Robo Ky and Holy Order Sol! In addition, Daisuke is also fans of other manga and anime such as Kenshin for Baiken and Tekkaman Blade into the boss Justice!

Exactly, they had the soundtrack and needed to built a game around it ;p
Daisuke really a multi-vitamin. Director, Artist, Musician,...

Exactly, well said, GG stands out on that regard.
Such a great video. I really think a follow up where you go over each character’s designs and rank them would be a really novel idea. (:
Thanks, that's a neat idea. maybe I'll do a fighting game character design video someday, checking out the difference between the big titles.
Im pretty sure Daisuke just wanted to sell his albums with a killer fighting game.

Interesting! Would you like to share where you found this info? ( I don't have a GG artbook, thanks!).
Always loved the art of the series. Nice video bru

Sol badguy was based on freddy mercury surely?
Sol not based on any artists? He’s literally based on Daisuke and Freddy Mercury.
I only get my facts from dev interviews.
Sol>Ky
Hmm, let’s see about that: ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxWQNrPPYMja6blXO6RpBECM2eBhoCSNH8
