This will be my 12th sober xmas,I didn't need an excuse to drink, but could easily give you hundreds of my old ones. I give time to help feed the homeless every year now,A hot meal ,a warm mug of tea & a friendly hug means the world to them. It also reminds me, that I am doing okay in my life.. Keep on walking your walk in life, your doing grand ..❤🙏
Boozing is the biggest thief of family time and of life in general. I quit ten years ago and would never want that in my life again, even as a social drinker.
It's good your doing these videos. I'm terribly in the addiction of alcohol I'm drunk all the time. Lost everything in my life because of alcohol. Keep posting these videos because supporting someone helps me
@imadrunk3576 I wish you all the luck in the world if you do want to stop drinking, it's bloody hard !!! Been a drinker as long as I can remember (57 now) my parents were alcoholics which for me didn't make it easy but after horrific blood results it was stop or I was going to die and I couldn't do that to my precious children, grandchildren and husband that's all the family I have and the same for them. I do hope you have family who can help you .I'm not a religious person but I pray you find happiness and not in the bottom of a glass ..Good luck xxx
Well done mate. You did the right thing making it public and holding yourself accountable. You’re absolutely right about your kids too and it’s a credit to you as a father that you’ve made this decision and kept to it. Keep strong
Congratulations Gaz! I am with you all the way! When my husband gave up smoking he bought a keyboard with the money and learnt to play it! Treat yourself and the family to something special.
You mentioned you are doing this for your kids. Well done you. Im 56 and my dad has been dead about 14 years now. My dad was a functioning alcoholic. He worked, but was in the pub every night,me and my brother never saw him. When we did see him he was drunk and always in a bad mood. I avoided him at all times because he was quite violent and had a very short fuse. I had no relationship with my dad because of his drinking. Christmas was always bad in our house. Me and my brother would get up early as kids do to open our presents. Mum would hear us and cone and watch us open everything. Dad wouldn't. He'd be hung over in bed from the night before. We knew he didn't even know what our presents were because mum would have sorted all that. He never ever got up to watch us open our presents. When he did get up on Christmas day morning, he'd go straight to the pub for the afternoon. We'd set the table and mum would have everything ready, but dad would still be in the pub, so she'd phone the pub and tell them to tell him to come home cos me, my brother and my mum were waiting to eat. This would ENRAGE him and i remember him coming home drunk in such a foul mood. We all ate in silence, dad would never let us talk at the table, and i don't remember who did it but words were said and either dad or mum then threw a plate of their food at the wall. Me and my brother terrified sitting in forced silence. Merry Christmas. That is an example of how some kids can experience Christmas with a drunk parent. Awful I absolutely applaud you Gareth for thinking about your kids and making a change. You are a decent man.
@@TimelordUK why did your mum bother to ring him and get him to come home knowing how he would act? My dad is very similar but we were aloud to talk atleast! You all should have enjoyed the peace and had a merry time before the idiot got home
@Koutsimouka we did! I was always more relaxed when he wasn't there, but mum knew it would have caused even more trouble if we'd started our Christmas meal without him
Hey Gareth, I am now just over 600 days sober. I had my first sober Christmas last year and I have to say that it was the most difficult test and to be honest infuriating thing I have every experienced. Suffice to say that I am not looking forward to my second one. Although getting through the year is fine, Christmas is a whole new ball game because it is ALL ABOUT BOOZING! You will be bombarded from every angle and every time you use a device, watch anything on TV or even listen to the radio. I was screaming at one point and banging my head against the wall. You cannot escape it unless you abstain from all media and lock yourself in the house. Good luck, you will need it!
We love & support you Gareth. Please don't think you're being deprived or having a less fun time without alcohol. You're on a pathway to better health for you & your family. Better times are ahead. You don't need alcohol to have fun. I've seen firsthand how it can destroy lives. You've come this far. Don't look back. Look to the future with happier, healthy times with your wonderful family. You're always in our thoughts. Stay strong 🙏👍
You must remember that you dont need a drink to enjoy yourself at Christmas or anytime really!! Family is important to you and that is all you need!! You are doing incredibly well.... You can do it... well you are !! 😉xx
One of the hardest things about not drinking is being around people who have had a drink I find they can be quite annoying and I include myself in that as i do enjoy a tipple.
Some Christmas food has wine and brandy and rum in it - the cooking process usually eliminates any intoxicating effect, so you can eat as much as your stomach will let you without getting Brahms & Liszt - might get a bit windy - but eliminate anything from your diet that makes you windy, you can’t eat or drink anything at all!
What an incredible gift you will be giving your wife and children this Christmas.....a husband and Dad who is there!!....present and correct!! 😊🎉.... it's going to be epic.....stay strong, know that we're here, feeling so proud of you! 😊🏆
Well done lad ,I'm 11months and struggling after 40 year drinking habit ,it's hard and my best wishes are with you ,keep going and let's support each and everyone of us trying to stop x
I agree with this completely! Post as often as you feel with this topic, it will be helping those who need that little bit of encouragement to keep going 👌 The only reason people may complain about this type of video is because it holds up a mirror to their own behaviour. I've not had any alcohol since January 1st, and there's still people who frown and look at me weird when they hear I've still not picked up an alcoholic beverage! Keep up the brilliant work 👏👏
Congratulations! It takes great strength of character, and I honestly can't think of anyone in my family that did what you're doing. I believe this is going to be your best Christmas season EVER! Enjoy! 🎄🎁
Gareth this will be the best Christmas gift you’ve given yourself by staying sober and enjoying every moment with your family. I heard from a friend today her hubby has the onset of dementia due to his alcoholism I would not wish this horrible disease on anyone.
Mate, I gave up drinking about the same time as you did. After 30 years, too many injuries, so many jobs I’ve been fired from. My advice is just be around people who can support you. It’ll be hard for me as I don’t have a wife or girlfriend or family and Xmas and New Years Eve will be hard, but be strong pal. You can do this! All the best mate, love you’re videos
So proud of you. Im 2 months behind you. You inspire me. I've noticed how bright the whites of your eyes are now. 2 months, mine will be like that too x
Congratulations on 5 months sober, well done! Keep going, just take it one day at a time. If you get tempted to drink at Christmas, pray about it. Think how dissapointed you would be in yourself if you ruin 5+ months of sobriety. I know how hard it is, I've got over 24 years of sobriety now, and my life is much better. Good luck. JT
You're doing great, you should be proud of yourself. I cant speak from experience with alcohol abuse but like any unhealthy habits try to keep away from situations that make you hit the bottle. If you are hosting Christmas I hope your family and friends will support and respect a dry house
You got this Gareth. Every Christmas I sit at my table, thank God I'm here and sober for another 25th of December and a little prayer for all on their own journeys, and a thought for those who are struggling as well as those who are absent from their tables this year because of alcohol or narcotic addiction. You're about to give your family the best Christmas present ever. So proud pal 🫶👏👍
I'm drinking too much alcohol and over the last 5 years or so i have introduced a sober end of the year during December and January. Only if you do it you recognize how much booze is a normal part of everyday living. I have decided that once i cannot stay away for these 2 months i will completely go sober. Big congrats to you for your success and i love your attitude towards your children 👍
I gave up alcohol for about 9 months, because I was asking a family member to give up and said it was easy. I rarely drink, so no problem right? Wrong!!! It was dreadful. Every event you go to people tend to try and force drink on you and especially if they have been drinking it can be quite rude. I went to a Christmas event with my book club. A bloody book club!! One guy called me every name under the sun, because I wouldn’t drink the wine he kept pushing at me. I wouldn’t explain why I’d given up because why should anyone. I just said I’m not drinking alcohol I’ve given up. In the end I walked out. Nobody defended me. Next day I got lots of calls saying how wrong he’d been but by then it was too late. What if that had been you Gareth? He could have wrecked your progress. So long story but just congratulations on your progress. Stay strong anyone out there. It’s about you not them. (Never returned to the book club!!)
Blimey you would think the more intellectual types that you'd maybe consider go to book clubs would be a bit more sensitive / understanding! Good for you for standing your ground and walking away from it.
Hi Gareth you are doing brilliant by keeping off the alcohol saved you a fortune as well I have been sober 17 months and feel fantastic well done proud of you mate 😊
5 months is a huge step forward. Just need to reassociate having a gathering or fun without alcohol as it really isn't needed. It's the smell of alcohol that finally put me off, I'm now 8 years sober. You've got this!
Got to say you look so well Gareth You are sending such positive and helpful and personal experience to others and you look amazing and sound so balanced it really refreshing That is so loving to others a real friend Gareth And you are doing so well by your beautiful family keep going Carol
You're doing so well! I can't believe 5 months have passed! Christmas will definitely be different for you this year, but you may surprise yourself and not miss the boozey form of celebrations as much as you anticipated. Plus, with fresh eyes, you may experience a special edge to Christmas that you missed when you were drinking, and that will give you something to look forward to in future festive seasons instead of the anxiety that you could be 'missing out' on something because you won't be drinking. Good luck to you!
You are doing just great, my friend--keep it up and don't worry about talking about it too much--we are all behind you and all are here to share with you. Take care and God bless you and your family. Cheers Pat in New Jersey
Congratulations on the 5 months being sober. It gets easier. The pangs can continue a while but stick with it, it's well worth it. Love your channels ❤
Hi Gareth, I have been sober for over 11 years and I feel very good about it, I cared for my Mother who passed away last year for 11 years, she was 95. Keep it up man, it is worth it. All the Best
I’m a different personality. I can drink one alcoholic drink and stop. It must be hell having an addictive habit. Stay strong. You look so healthy now. Bravo Gareth.
I always work on new years day and theres nothing better getting up at 6 all fresh knowing most people will be ill all day because of the booze. Christmas isn't about drinking anyway Gareth its about being with your family. Well done on 5 months 👏 keep going mate.❤
Well done mate, I’m an all or nothing drinker but fortunately I can fairly easily drink nothing , keep on doing what you know is right and happy Christmas
So glad booze and cigs never got a grip on me although I do tend to go wild with chicken Madras and Mackies vanilla ice cream occasionally! Your putting aside the pop videos are a powerful example for others.
Keep up the good work. What a great time this will be for your wife and girls!! I don't know if you believe in prayer, but I do, and I pray for you often.
Hiya mate, We love watching you review bang average Frozen Foods. We've even bought some of it after watching. Addiction is tough, I know from experience. The hardest bit for me was not day to day, but looking forward and knowing you're not going to be able to do what you loved doing ever again. Ignore the voice in your head and walk away from it and keep busy is the best way. Stay in the present moment if you can... All the best, mate
Hopefully Gareth you're feeling much better for not drinking over. the last 5 months too. You're certainly looking good . Loving your morning walks so I look forward to the next one soon. Keep smiling.😁
You're doing great Gareth. For 5 months now you've proved you're stronger than the booze ! Never forget that your kids need the memories you create for them. How do you want them to remember their Dad ? All you have to do is refuse ONE drink...The next one ! Yes, sure it hard at Christmas time when a lot of peoples idea of "A good time" is to get drunk. The same with New Years Eve and lots of other celebrations and events during your life. Just keep as strong as you are and turn down that one next drink. Trade it in for happy memories with your family. All my best wishes 😘
What your doing is brave and honest and a very sensible life choice , please whatever you do , DO NOT GIVE IN to temptation .Stay in your lane soldier do not divert. Stay strong keep motivated and give yourself a pat on the back your doing just fine.
Biggest respect to you gareth, honestly I hope your wife, children and wider family are all so proud of you, I hope over Christmas everyone supports you and joins you in not drinking, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful Christmas with your family, biggest respect for you, honestly you've done amazing, your looking healthy and happy fair play, keep going, we're all behind you
3 months booze free this week, never thought I would ever be able to say that. You sparked off a monumental change in me. Everything you were saying, I thought, wow, thats me....I stopped overnight. support from my mrs, kids, friends, you and your followers, has helped big time. I feel better, physically & mentally. Well done and good luck to you and anyone who is trying to stop, or even cut down....Proud of you all.
I support you in your journey sir. Thank you for the video. Your words resonate. I did sober for October. So 35 days. I have bought drink back into my life. But it's subjective. Individual battles and circumstances. You are true to you and your family ❤
Fair play to you mate, very honest and open, hats off to you. I've really cut down on the drink myself as I'm getting older, find I don't need it or enjoy it as much. Next stop is to totally cut it out. Sure listening to your honest words will help me out 👍😊
Well done on 5 months off the sauce, keep going. You'll have a great Christmas without alcohol and you'll enjoy the day with your children and wife. Just tell people who you invite over the festive period that the house is alcohol free and don't have it in the house or get the alcohol free versions if you really must. You're a great role model Gaz. ❤
Evening Gareth well done 5 months and I must say you are looking so well. It will be very hard at Christmas be strong Gareth! You certainly live in the country so different from here in London. We are with you Gareth! Thank you Sue
Been sober for 28 months now. I was really excited for my first dry christmas and was never tempted in the slighest. 1st Christmas is the real test to be worn like a badge of honour.
Good for you Gareth, I didn't know about November, I will have a look at the link. Very tricky at Christmas but keep strong and enjoy yourselves Our very best to you and yours
Well done Gareth, but be very, very careful. I lasted 36 months. Don't listen to that little devil on your shoulder. Enjoy Christmas that's important to the kids.
Its just another day on your journey, try not to think to much in advance . Your doing great and an inspiration for us in recovery from alcohol and those who are wtill fighting.
@4:02...We hear ya! ..What it means to you...and why. Well done!! You will enjoy this Christmas with your family like never before ...be so proud of the change you have made this year! 👍🙏👏
Keep strong my friend. Iam sure christmas day will be special with your family, but Boxing Day will be better when you can remember the heartfelt hugs from all your loved ones.
You're going to have the best and most memorable Christmas and New Year of your life without drinking - 100% Baldy. I'm so impressed that you've come so far. Nice one.
Well done Gaz, you will have a wonderful Christmas and New Year you will be able to remember this time . Family time together is so precious, the kids grow up fast so you don't want to miss a second , and i am sure your lovely wife and kids are so proud of you. Your achievement is a inspiration to many, keep it up your doing amazing 🏆🥇
Great to see you fella and sorry i've not commented for a while.. 5 months is MASSIVE! It'll be 6 months on the 25th Nov for me so really proud of us. Earlier nights don't make it any easier and as you say it's going to be a challenge over the festive period.. sorry i'm a complete stranger but I would 100% recommend a club/hobby like i've done (5 aside/gun club!). All the best and thanks again for your guidance and help buddy x
Hi Mate youre doing great I'm a 66 year old lost wife to cancer I like you drink too much at weekends I'm a dj and will drink around 8 plus pints had 10 a while ago fell off my electric bike a few times only going slow thankfully lol your a beacon for us all to follow Keep doing what you've doing respect my friend.
You can do it Gareth, this will be my 2nd alcohol free Christmas. It's not easy, you can still enjoy the festive season without alcohol. All the best mate, keep up the good work.😃
Nice work brother as it can't be easy, as alcohol is everywhere. And your kids and wife family ect must be so proud of you. Keep it up and I'm sure you don't need a drink at Christmas what with your family and friends around you. And I'm sure also you inspire people to try it for them self's and that's definitely a winner to.
So good to see you sober and well. I will be sober one year on December 19. Last Christmas was a struggle and New Year’s wasn’t easy either, but I held on and kept the promise to the Lord. ❤️
Your doing amazing gareth! And you posting talking about not drinking is prob helping others and hopefully helps you keeping going not drinking, your doing great!
I guess a lot of it is genetics. I've drank alcohol almost every day for the last 35 years, and the doctor's last check-up was all perfect. Glad you're doing well in your battle. Somebody famous once said, there is no pleasure in life worth giving up in order to have an extra 5 years in the rest home. I'd hazard a guess that drinking wasn't your problem, it was understanding how to do it sensibly. God bless and Merry Xmas.
Five months this has passed so quickly. I salute you! You are doing an absolutely brilliant job! Giving up drinking is hard. I enjoy a drink, but luckily I don’t bing drink. Keep up Gaz we’re all behind you. 💕
Good video giving us an update on your journey of not drinking. Its very interesting to see and makes me think about my own life regarding the amount I drink each week. I should certainly cut down on it really. Hopefully watching your videos will encourage me to do so. Cheers Gareth. 👍
From drinking everyday I’m three weeks sober today 🙏🏽
Keep it up

Heyup Mr.Baldy!! It's great being sober. I gave up alcohol two years ago and I have never felt so good as I do now!!
Well done
Well done Gareth. Keep up the great work. Stay strong and I'm glad your feeling positive. Keep it going Bud.
Thanks 👍
You're doing so well! I can't believe 5 months have passed! Christmas will definitely be different for you this year, but you may surprise yourself and not miss the boozey form of celebrations as much as you anticipated. Plus, with fresh eyes, you may experience a special edge to Christmas that you missed when you were drinking, and that will give you something to look forward to in future festive seasons instead of the anxiety that you could be 'missing out' on something because you won't be drinking. Good luck to you!
It's 5 months (and counting) of being *fully* there as a husband and father. That's a great achievement.🥰
You are doing just great, my friend--keep it up and don't worry about talking about it too much--we are all behind you and all are here to share with you. Take care and God bless you and your family. Cheers Pat in New Jersey
Good on you! You're also looking so much better & more healthy & life will be better for you all as a family - keep up the good work!
Thanks
Well done Gareth keep it up and you will get there
Hi Gareth, Nice day for a walk, 5 months your doing well ,keep it up you can do this your a winner, all the best mate Take care
Congratulations on the 5 months being sober. It gets easier. The pangs can continue a while but stick with it, it's well worth it. Love your channels ❤
Thanks kindly ☺️
Hi Gareth, I have been sober for over 11 years and I feel very good about it, I cared for my Mother who passed away last year for 11 years, she was 95. Keep it up man, it is worth it.
All the Best
Sorry about your mum. Great age 95. Well done for 11 years.
@@Baldfoodieguylifestyle Thanks Gareth
I’m a different personality. I can drink one alcoholic drink and stop. It must be hell having an addictive habit. Stay strong. You look so healthy now. Bravo Gareth.
Keep going mate, be proud of what you have accomplished for your self and more importantly your family 👍
Thank you, I will
Well done to you mate you really are a hero, not just to yourself but to others who are struggling. Best wishes Pauline
I always work on new years day and theres nothing better getting up at 6 all fresh knowing most people will be ill all day because of the booze. Christmas isn't about drinking anyway Gareth its about being with your family. Well done on 5 months 👏 keep going mate.❤
Yes it's going to be different this year. Well done pal.
You're doing good, mate. You and your family should be proud about your commitment to getting healthier!
You are very brave to come out to everyone. Its very hard with all the adverts and cheap deals this time of year but being healthy is worthwhile 🎉🎉🎉
Well done mate, I’m an all or nothing drinker but fortunately I can fairly easily drink nothing , keep on doing what you know is right and happy Christmas
Thanks, will do! All the best
Thank you so much!
Well done Gareth. Keep up the good work xx
Thank you, I will
Hopefully Gareth you're feeling much better for not drinking over. the last 5 months too. You're certainly looking good . Loving your morning walks so I look forward to the next one soon. Keep smiling.😁
Feel great 👍
Well done Gareth- keep going- you will eventually get though this 👍
Thanks Paul
You're doing great Gareth. For 5 months now you've proved you're stronger than the booze ! Never forget that your kids need the memories you create for them. How do you want them to remember their Dad ? All you have to do is refuse ONE drink...The next one ! Yes, sure it hard at Christmas time when a lot of peoples idea of "A good time" is to get drunk. The same with New Years Eve and lots of other celebrations and events during your life. Just keep as strong as you are and turn down that one next drink. Trade it in for happy memories with your family. All my best wishes 😘
Hi. Gareth well done you can still enjoy yourself without alcohol keep going 😊
Well done mate
You have been fantastic on this journey . We support you all the way . Best Wishes 😊😊😊

Sure listening to your honest words will help me out 👍😊
Thanks Dan. Good luck 👍

Thank you, all the best 👍

Great to see you fella and sorry i've not commented for a while.. 5 months is MASSIVE! It'll be 6 months on the 25th Nov for me so really proud of us. Earlier nights don't make it any easier and as you say it's going to be a challenge over the festive period.. sorry i'm a complete stranger but I would 100% recommend a club/hobby like i've done (5 aside/gun club!). All the best and thanks again for your guidance and help buddy x
Not even into blokes but you look about 10 years younger from your first few vids mate!
Thanks Pal 👍
Gareth look how far you have come carry on and inspire others
Congratulations Gareth. It's hard. I think eventually. You won't miss or even think about it.👍
Thanks Richard
Hi Mate youre doing great I'm a 66 year old lost wife to cancer I like you drink too much at weekends I'm a dj and will drink around 8 plus pints had 10 a while ago fell off my electric bike a few times only going slow thankfully lol your a beacon for us all to follow Keep doing what you've doing respect my friend.
Sorry about your wife 🙏
You can do it Gareth, this will be my 2nd alcohol free Christmas. It's not easy, you can still enjoy the festive season without alcohol. All the best mate, keep up the good work.😃
Thanks Richard
Nice work brother as it can't be easy, as alcohol is everywhere. And your kids and wife family ect must be so proud of you. Keep it up and I'm sure you don't need a drink at Christmas what with your family and friends around you. And I'm sure also you inspire people to try it for them self's and that's definitely a winner to.
Thanks Gaz, you’re doing really well, you’ll have a brilliant Christmas with your lovely wife and family
Thanks, you too!
You will enjoy Christmas so much more! You are an inspiration.🎉🎄👍👏🙏
Happy Christmas 🎄
Five months this has passed so quickly. I salute you! You are doing an absolutely brilliant job! Giving up drinking is hard. I enjoy a drink, but luckily I don’t bing drink. Keep up Gaz we’re all behind you. 💕
Time flies doesn't it.
@ . 💕👍
A massive well done Gareth 👍
Thanks Paul 👍
I am so proud of you. Blessings and prayers...
Good video giving us an update on your journey of not drinking. Its very interesting to see and makes me think about my own life regarding the amount I drink each week. I should certainly cut down on it really. Hopefully watching your videos will encourage me to do so. Cheers Gareth. 👍
Thanks Miles, hope you well 😊
