You're not failing, you are working hard towards success as a "UA-camr" 13:57 is the most important part of You Tube and you have that part of it figured out keep up the great work. Good on you.
Starting with the thumbnails, I avoid anything that smacks of clickbait and have unsubscribed at times on that principle. If a person appears genuine, that’s what matters even if they make some bloopers. Years ago when I began serious photography I had wonderful mentors on a site that once was great, with a very supportive community. But that’s in the past now. It is said to take 10,000hours to be proficient at something and I’ve found that to be accurate. We can all cringe at early attempts but it’s all part of the process. Being creative is what is most important and you’re doing a great job with that so well done 👏👏👏
Thank you! I still feel like I'm trying to find my space with youtube, even after 3 years. I agree on the thumbnail stuff but admittedly do feel like I'm "failing" a smidge. There's still a long way for me to go but as long as I enjoy the process I won't be stopping any time soon 😊
You need to do a ton of shorts and your subscriber count will explode. I have gained 2000+ subs in less than two weeks and all I have on my channel are shorts. I post 4 shorts a week. One of my vids is over 200k views in less than a week.
Wow that's a phenomenal effort! I did do shorts for a while but I feel my quality just isn't up to par. Perhaps I'll give it another go, thanks for the motivation 😊
I just hit 9,000 subscribers myself and 10,000 is also my next goal. UA-cam recommended your video to me so thats a good sign. I subscribed and will watch and root for you!
That is really disheartening losing so many watch hours and being so close to the 4000 watch hours goal. I really appreciate your honesty and openness about your channel, that helps creators a lot. Thank you for your video!
Still watching at 13:38 the tips. My last few videos have done better and I can partly see why. I think I am really bad at thumbnails and I think I agree that that makes people click. Not worth having that well planned and edited video if the thumbnail ia not inviting enough. This video was recommended to me and I know it is different to your other content, but I will watch your other content also. Just keep going, being a UA-camr can be lonely at times.
@chrislovesstamps awww thank you! That means more than you know. It certainly can be lonely but when we can connect with each other and honestly connecting with other creators has helped me learn and continue even in difficult times. You'll get there, I'm sure of it 😁
This is really useful. I still haven't reached 30 subs and I'm excited about my 2 whole watch hours (I know it's nothing, but I was so excited people are actually *watching* my content). Thank you for sharing your journey!
Just you wait, hitting 100 subs feels phenomenal. Even a video performing 1 viewer more than usual feels monumental. Enjoy the journey, it's certainly worth it 😊
Thanks for sharing a little of the stats behind your channel and being open about what is good and bad. There's an inherent conflict between making the videos that you really want to make, versus content that appeals to the algorithm. In some ways this dynamic can push you forward, but in the main it's also very sanitizing. Audiences get used to a certain formula on UA-cam, and that puts pressure for everyone else to conform. So we all gotta be ourselves, but follow the hot topics, but make sure to stand out from the pack, but fit in to the formula, but stay true to your own style, but keep moving with the trends. No problem!
So well said! It is always a bit of a balance. As long as I enjoy making the things the algorithm wants, I'm happy to do it. I think finding style can be a hard one to figure out but we shall get there 😁
How serendipitous that this video appeared in my suggested videos 😄 I’m an Aussie creator in a very similar place on the YT journey ⏰ Thanks for sharing!
Keep going Tash....It sounds that you have all the answers around the things that you want to change and improve on within yourself. Love your videos. Thx!
I did do similar things initially but none really got anywhere near the same about of views, I'm still learning and tweaking though, and that's what makes the process fun! 😊
I have 1145 subs and like 17k watch hours all within 3 months. However, my Niche' was remastering audio of vintage concerts. When it came time to monetize, they denied me due to "REUSE". Ironically, "Reaction" videos to the same content is fine. However, actually spending hours improving the AUDIO of a MUSIC CONCERT doesn't qualify. I personally believe UA-cam is completely missing the boat with this type of content. Anyway, I'm struggling to get monetized due to this and very frustrated...The response from subscribers has been great...But I can't continue spending so much time doing these if it leads me to a dead end. I'm now on my second denial and already had an appeal denied as well. So I can't even try again until June. Unfortunately, I think the only way to fix this is to delete my content that has a copyright attached to it (EVEN THOUGH the copyright holder ALLOWS USE on UA-cam). Anyway... I feel for you and understand the frustration of it all.. I too started with UA-cam back in 2011(ish).. But didn't get serious until I was laid off from my job at the end of 2023. So much time that appears to have been wasted sadly... I'll keep plugging along and see if I can't get this figured out. Too bad I can't actually speak with someone and have them tell me what I need to do... Sigh. Hopefully, this video will get you many more watch hours and subscribers. I subbed! - Take care!
Omg thats horrible! I can understand why the algorithmic side of youtube would flag your content but surely if you could speak to someone on the inside they would be more lenient because you're adding so much value! Don't lose hope, maybe if you expand your content to teaching people your process maybe they'll allow you to monetize? Good luck and I hope your youtube future is brighter soon 🤞
@@tashsikkes I actually have had a few people suggest the same thing. I am planning a series to show how I use my studio (and feature specific equipment/reviews, etc) and part of that will be how I remaster these concerts. I gotta get my video editing chops up to par though...LOL! Thanks for your feedback!
Hey Tash , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ? Why can't you try a different video editor for your growth ?
Thanks for the suggestion. At this point in time I like my editing software (premier pro) and my mentor is helping out of the kindness of his heart. I'm not in the position to pay someone else to edit and I love the editing process. Thanks for the suggestion though! 😊
Heyy, watched your video. I have youTube channel too level up w Alyssa Mahin. Huge geek n did a lot of research on growing. Tips quality is key, speed up your content slightly, add background music from UA-cam music copyright free, n have fun! See you around n good luck!
Thanks for the suggestions Alyssa! I'm not sure about you but as I'm based in Australia so I don't think I have that button yet. I'll certainly give the other suggestions a shot though 😊
