I think a main aspect that the college administrators were looking for was the overall theme. You had a lot of activities and honors that related to the major you applied for. And that shows a passion. And I heard colleges prefer that over perfect test and a model student. Congratulations in getting into Standford!!
Yale demographics for African Americans as at 2019 is 5.6% of the student population, bias against Asians I can concur, but against whites who are 44% is bs!!! The current justice department we have is politicized ,they are just trying to stir an obvious section of the population up because of November. If the whites are discriminated against just like Asians there must be a beneficiary, well blacks are only 5%.Obviously,the percentage of foreign students if I may guess will be at least 15%,but this is because they pay the most money out of pocket, which is common sense because private universities are for profit.
@@abby8490 I didn’t know this was a thing with all “smart” or “overachieving” students lol… I’d always wonder why my classmates in middle school nicknamed me artificial intelligence

Congrats on your acceptance! And share your essays!!! I got accepted as well from my work in Functional Analysis and Tensor Analysis with Einstein Manifolds. I have absolutely no extracurriculars so my work saved me lol.
So after watching this video I spent 16minutes finding out what highschool classes will go with my majors and summer tutor sessions, then I realized my parents aren’t gonna pay 1000$ for my tutoring so I researched what fast food restaurants pay the most and what age I can get a job, so when I found this information out I made a google doc and wrote down my “plan” just to remember I’m only in 7th grade.

Thank you for this video and congratulations on getting into Stanford! My school doesn’t offer any aps. Do you think this will affect my application? And should I take aps outside of school? I know stats aren’t everything and my extracurriculars are really strong which will hopefully say a lot on my app.
This could play a minor role in her acceptance, however, big colleges always accept a very small handful of students that are not qualified. So I doubt aff action played a role in her acceptance, but rather her character and achievements + honestly a boatload of luck.
CONGRATS ON STANFORD !!! Btw, how come you decided to take AP Calc AB if math isn't your thing?Wouldn't it be hard without sufficient mastery of SAT math? (Just curious, not being rude).
Hi! So for me SAT math was covered in my 7th/8th grade classes, so taking AP Calc AB senior year really depended on my precalculus knowledge rather than my SAT math knowledge.
Sat is about fast reasoning and quick problem solving. Calculus is about being able to understand a problem conceptually and apply it to maths. Good luck to everyone on their college apps!
Too much competition these days for teens. The things they do to get into good colleges... it's ridiculous. So much competing and comparing. Do not feel obligated to get into schools simply for the reputations that surround them. Many teens nowadays just want to get in because it's a trend. They want approval among their friends and social media. The bits of social approval may not last long if life during and after college are spent miserably. You're still young. Enjoy the time while you can, and do not bury yourself in work, competition, and Internet comparison so much -- even if it's the "trend." Bragging rights and admiration from your peers may seem important now, but trends shift so quickly now! Better to stick to your true passions and not let colleges and social approval define you.
Tho Le this sounds like someone who isnt academically competitive tho. you dont get it obviously. alot of people at these schools are there because they push themselves to succeed, obligation to get into an ivy will literally only get your so far, if you dont have self-drive and are academically competitive it wont work for you.

For my school, I heard Pre-calc honors is 8 weeks of precalculus and then the rest is AP Calc A/B and most students go to Calc BC the following year (I'm currently doing the summer hw for Pre-Calc Honors already). I noticed that you are taking AP Calc A/B for senior year and was wondering if your case is the same as mine? Could you have chosen Calc B/C for your Senior year after passing Pre-Calc Honors? There is only one class of each subject and they are during the same time/period). Can anyone give me any input? Is it better/more impressive to drop AP History and take AP Calc A/B your junior year or just take Pre-Calc honors (and AP History) which is 8 weeks of Pre-Calc and then the rest is Calculus (allowing me to take the Calc AP test anyways). I plan to take 5 AP classes next year/Junior year (idk if my counselor will try to stop me). I've never taken an AP course before and did two years of English honors which was the only thing available but I've received an unweighted 4.0 GPA. Thanks you for your time reading this comment.
My situation wasn't like that, I took pure precalc junior year and then AP Calc AB senior year. I think taking one class or another doesn't necessarily make things "more impressive", what matters most is what you're interested in and what you can do well in!
