- Picked up a @strymon Deco pedal to add some grit and movement to my keyboards on stage. Here, I am playing the @NordKeyboards Electro 6 through the Deco to see what it brings to some basic patches. I have some gigs coming up so will record some footage of the pedal in action and upload soonish...might make a beat for ya with it later too!
I have watched this demo dozens of times in the last year. Amazing playing, and amazing sounds. Thank you! I need this thing real bad
Thank you so much for the kind words, it's always lovely to have great feedback. Yes - you do need this pedal, Uncle Ryan says go buy it. Thanks for watching (I did a video on the El Capistan last week if that's useful at all to you). ua-cam.com/video/pCX1xrc-eGA/v-deo.html
incredible demo, i love the sound of this pedal for your keys. Incredible playing too, that warm saturation sound makes it so incredible
Sounds great with some awesome key chops as well! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks buddy. More coming soon….
Fantastic demo and playing.
Many thanks!
Came for the Deco, stayed for the playing. Cheers brother!
Thanks bro. More to come! Have the best day bud.
Same. Great sound, killer playing, 🙌
This is the exact same set up I want to eventually upgrade to. Perfect. 👌
Ignore the hater. This was really helpful. Thanks
Nice playing - would be great if we could see the pedal settings!
Totally right. I fixed this for subsequent videos. I cringe now at my early attempts to share stuff! Thanks for watching all the same
Love this demo, really nice how you take us step by step, and you play amazing!! I hope one day I will be as skilled ad you, have you tried the Strymon Volante? I got that one, and I'm in love with the pedal 🥰
Heck yeah!
nice playing 🎹
Thanks for the kind words. ❤️
I thought you liked the Deco Ryan.
I love the Bee Gees
You're More Than a Woman to Me
@@ryantaylorlive ..Oh no ! I am not a woman at all… and not interest in anything more…I’m here just for the pedal ,!
Lol - don't make Bee Gees jokes if you don't get the references then! x
aaand here it is on the Rhodes

if I think how much money do you spend today to "" "imitate" "" the sounds of the 70s. When I was 16 years old. Why all this? Just Because you don't want to carry weight. Piano fender 80 kg. Hammond C3 +Leslie....piano Yamaha CP 80......Ext.....Ext.....
Poor, comfortable, lazy but very fast musicians of today !!!!!!
All super fast with a thousand scales. Incomprehensible dissonant chords.
You all play non-existent things.
There was someone who publishes these videos playing a song. One song. Zero. Practically half the keyboard players do the rhythms that guitarists did and the other half compete to see who is faster.
The heart?
The melody?
The semplicity?
Friendship between musicians?
Where is the repertoire?
Dude, I'm demonstrating the capabilities of an effects pedal. Tell you what, name your favourite song and I'll play it for you on my Rhodes Mk1.
@@ryantaylorlive Dear friend, it was not a criticism of you. I just mentioned one situation. Don't take the comment as a criticism of you. To your ability to play. It was a peaceful commentary on what we continually see on UA-cam. Do not be offended . You are certainly very good and you know many songs. But if you also take a tour on UA-cam, you will agree with me. However, you were very kind in your response. I appreciate it. I am sixty-one and I can assure you that you are much more polite than many. So: W the music. W art in all its logical expressions. W people like you who show politeness and modesty. A hug from what "was" the homeland of art, now, the homeland of thieves. I really like Michel Camillo and George Shearing. Bye Bye. Always music-loving friends.
@@ryantaylorliveMy favourite part is when he accused you of playing “non-existent things”!
Love hearing Strymon pedals on synths/keyboards. Nice.
This pedal is last in my recording chain, use it for mixing as an outboard effect, it does wonders to my sound.
Yeah, it's awesome. I use a lot of analogue instruments in my studio and this pedal was a quick solution to getting some grit and movement to my digital instruments on stage. Looking forward to looping it up as outboard too.
I have it here: preamp-eq-Analog Heat-DECO-Mobius-Timeline-BigSky. Feedback much appreciated!
The DECO is a peach on anything, guitar, KB, VOICE!
Great pedal! Very versatile and superb sound quality. Excellent playing by the way, Ryan. Demos tell me nothing without music and you provided big time.
Check out the secondary functions!
Been looking for a good review for the Deco on keys for a good bit now. Absolutely rock solid playing. Youve sold me. Will definitely pick one of these up for my Rhodes.
Yeah - I use this on my Rhodes Mk1 and it adds all kinds of fuzzy drifty loveliness to it. Especially with a big reverb or delay adding some natural chorus to the tape wobble.
@@ryantaylorlive I picked one up. Its soo good. Love that old 70's tape wobble. And the Grit from the saturation knob. Its like the Rhodes was meant to be played with this pedal. If you haven't tried one yet, I highly recommend the Strymon Flint for Rhodes as well. The two pair so well.
Yay! Amazing playing. Love the Deco, definitely one of my favorite pedals. I use mostly on guitar, but I really like it too with the rhodes.
Great tones. As a guitarist it wasn't my cup of tea, but here it looks (sounds) like it's the perfect match for vintage keys!
I've put it on keys, drum bus, whole mixes - but on stage it's my "always on" pedal. Adds 10% more sexiness to anything really. Thanks for watching.
I hope this doesn’t sound cheesy to you, but your playing reminding me of some sweet Rick Wakeman solo jams. Bottom line, serious rocking!
Nowt wrong with that comparison. Thanks buddy. ❤️
great playing! 🙌🏽🎶💙
Hi. Really pleased you think so! Thanks for checking out the channel. R
I hear some Brian Auger. Great video.
Thanks man. I’m sure he’s in there somewhere…
@@ryantaylorlive He's been my fav since 18 and still love his approach at 57 . Great playing from you . Love the feel
Great demo! How would you compare it to the nord built in fx like vibe etc? Thanks and keep it coming..
It is way more unpredictable than vibe in terms of how and when it "wobbles" - which I prefer. I tend to use the saturation side as a stomp type effect to boost the signal when I'm soloing - which can, of course, be handled by the built in speaker emulation. The advantage to having the pedal allows me to have the built in rotary on the organ, whilst saturating the piano layer with the Deco - particularly handy when splitting the outputs.
@@ryantaylorlive I find the unpredictable wobbling and the saturation very tempting. This could benefit the Nord sound and give you control of its character (which we don't have now. Nord always has its corporate branded sound, which is very good already but always on the clean side, sort of).
