My mother has the most relaxing morning routine. She gets up and makes herself a coffee and then sits on the sofa and watches pre recorded gardening shows on the TV. The rest of her day is quite busy but the first hour is just the relaxing pleasure of seeing nice gardens and having a coffee.

Nina i know I've said this before but it's so so so reassuring to see you on this healing journey. Se nota tanto your improved relationship with wellness and even with yourself. You're inspiring now not in a way where it feels like we need to replicate your routines but rather in affirming that we can all find our way home in our bodies. Mil gracias.

nina, i totally hate commented on a video of yours a few years back. i guess i saw in you the grating-and-perpetual-need-to-be-better that i found in myself. that ate me alive. and now, i see that u are truly growing into the person that you are-Romantic, intuitive, intentional, and fluid. like water. your growth inspires me, especially because i am too experiencing a moment of freeing myself, my desires and dreams rhizomatically growing, spurting. thank u for being u and allowing us to see what it is like. what a kind and loving gesture.

I have no idea what your comment was all that time ago and I know that it’s absolutely none of my business anyway but I just wanted to say “Well done” for being a big enough person to apologise even though time has passed. It shows that you yourself have blossomed as a personality. We all have times when we’re judgmental for whatever reason, but realising we’ve made a mistake and doing something to make it right takes a strong person. You’re great 👍🏻😊💐

So grateful for your message about disentangling self worth from productivity, and pointing out the connection to our capitalist society. THANK YOU Nina for your wise words once again

I really resonated with your shift in mindset when it comes to productivity. I also struggle immensely with tieing my self-worth to my productivity. Now that I am practicing intentionality over productivity, I do less, but I enjoy my day-to-day so much more! I don't feel like I'm rushing towards something, but instead, I feel like I have at the destination and I'm taking in every little detail. :)

You absolutely spoke from my SOUL in that opening chat. I've never heard it put into such perfect words. I have this ideal self I'm constantly striving to be and the stars need to be truly aligned for me to be her. The rest of the time I'm guilt tripping myself because I could not meet my own (completely unrealistic) expectations. And what's worse.. on the tougher days, I find it hard to congratulate myself on the little wins/ self-care things I managed to do.. because I'm solely focusing on all the things I didn't.

I love this video so much! I have been feeling this same way about routines in general since last year. It has helped me lead with curiosity and to create a better relationship with listening to myself and what I need. It is so much more fun to not live in the rigidity of how things ought to be and lean into what feels most supportive at any given moment. Feels like we have grown up together somehow, thank you for your videos!

Thank you so much Nina, I found myself in the words you said in introduction. I'm always cramming the most "self care" activities in my day I can, and it's resulting in me never stopping, or if I do I'll slam myself for "wasting" time doing nothing. Please keep talking about this, it's helping a lot !

thank you for this one nina. i also struggle with being perfectionistic about my self care/healing/self help routines ( like meditating etc.) and needed this reminder that there is not a hierarchy of better or worse routines and practices- only what works for you! cheeeers

Rainy days, compassion and suspicious bagels that turned out to be pretty cute. It really is those little things that have the power to harness joy! Looks like your lovely bagels also chose to mirror the idea of productivity, in that, once we’re open to the process and release the expectations we have for ourselves, we have a deeper appreciation for where we’re at in that moment rather than being wrapped up in the “perfect result”. A big thank you to you and your bagels for reminding us we’re not alone! ❤️

Knives stored openly in the kitchen always scare the shit out of me.
I always worry that a "carnage" kind of setting occurs and someone freaks out and grabs a knive. Nothing alike has ever occured in my family nor in any other setting, but still 😬😝

i just subscribed but you give so many good little bits of advice i don't even realize i need to hear before you say it. everything you said on morning routines, especially around trying so hard to create the perfect morning or the perfect day, it ends up being more stressful and more overwhelming. this especially being difficult when you have a mental illness and you get so obsessed with trying to "fix" yourself, ughh it's exhausting and thank u for talking about it.
also needed that little reminder that sometimes when baking you have to be open to the idea of failing 😭 i get so frustrated when something doesn't turn out right then think i'm terrible at it lol

what a lovely video! i worked at a bread bakery for a few months recently and one of my tasks was bagels...if you want to try again, i have a tip: getting the dough really cold while it's on the parchment then ripping the parchment off while it's still cold is helpful.

I think you would really enjoy the book Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman (and his other work)! He really analyses our desire for being the optimal “productive” self and details how destructive that can be. In searching for a perfect schedule, always needing to be fast and on top of things, we miss the chance for spontaneity, slowness, and the richness of daily life. He outlines better ways to do our “productive” work without letting it overtake our life. I read it recently and have found myself a lot more calm! 🌞🐸
