Minimalism helped me to care more about my freetime. Instead of scrolling, I play more with my cats. Let me tell all of you that I had so many games, so many merch and I got rid of 90% of it. I dont miss it a second. Its just weird how you think, that you can never ever detach this item but atfer a time you dont even think about it anymore. And even if you want it back, this world is so full, you can always buy it again - but spoiler: you will never buy it again. Minimalism is something that you chose for yourself, its not about "I have less things than him!". Everyone decide for itself what minimalism means. But owning only a few items is really a game and life changer.
@@NicholasGarofola Thank you very much! Minimalism is a cure for addiction. But to fight the addiction you need to replace your new free slot of time with something different. You inspired me btw to skate again after 10 years instead of scrolling.
I have started to embrace minimalism and it’s amazing how certain people think something is wrong me since I’m not spending money or doing certain things.
I’ve struggled with mental health issues in the past and staying off social media almost magically made them go away. I wouldn’t go as far as to say, I’m completely connected with the world again, yet I’m connected with myself and found inner peace. Also reducing the group of people I spend with made my connections with the people I really care about much deeper and more meaningful! Your tips are great, love your content! 😌
I’ve noticed as I have gotten older gaming just doesn’t do it for me right now. Maybe I’ll go back to it. But something that I get dopamine now is hiking and walking.
you won the staring competition this time Nick ! Thanks for this sort of recap video , I made a few changes last year with regards scaling down possessions but slowly started getting back to bad habits again. This video will hopefully provide another kick start !
Don‘t buy a new phone. Buy the stock of the Company. Don’t find the stock? Buy the same amount of money in World ETF. Then, you have no money for the new item itself.
I found being offline a lot so no social media (including youtube) helped me with financial frugalism and stopped my consumerism in general as i have as no long impressed or influenced by random things i saw online. Also i too have both kindle and physical books and love to switch it up time to time. I tell myself before i game (animal crossing for switch if im looking for cozy, ff7 remake on ps5 if im hungry for a proper gaming experience or something like pokemon black 2 {or anything pokemon gens 1-5} emulated on an anbernic rg353v if i want nostalgia)... Then i have to make sure i go for a run/jog that day before enjoying it and if i havent exercised or i ate something non healthy than theres no gaming. I often float between reading and gaming. I think starting next week there will no longer be social media for me for a long time (hoping to beat the addiction)
Great video! Your videos are sometimes the way I get my attention span back. I always appreciate the medium length these are so I can force myself to get out of the doomscrolling that I do too often.
I would really love to stop using digital electronics, but with my work and since I live in another country alone, I cannot stop it completely. But trying to lessen it is really helping. ❤
One day the pause between the invitation to subscribe and getting the actual video started is just going to be the video itself. And it'll be glorious.
Love that you discuss minimalism. It seems to be less talked about now than a few years ago. For me, it is an ingrained lifestyle: just part of who I am. Keep up the great work. How about more content on your travels? Enjoy your Time!
Hey it's the 2nd or 3rd video I've seen from you, I enjoy it! One of the videos I saw you reccomended those slippers, have they been holding on? How long do they last until you feel like replacing them?
I used to get a lot of gundam model kits but struggled with building all of them nowadays I only get a few of my most favourite and take my time to make the best out of them
Bro, please in future, make a video on your video recording gears you use, Which softwares you use for both video and audio recording ? Loved your minimalistic and beautiful video editing . Feels very soothing to the eyes to watch and also the way you speak is soothing to listen too as well .
I watched this video 4 hours ago and I am still cracking up about that pause. That being said, solid video, I'm also getting back into minimalism, so this was great timing
Fair play that’s a great looking collection of plants you have, looks great, can you recommend a very simple, fool (Almost idiot) proof plant to start off with please? Great video as always!🏴
Haven't seen you since fall semester started. This was a nice refreshing video (& scare thinking you cut your hair). I'll be checking out the coffee. Thanks!
It looked like that perhaps your girlfriend was in one of your shots? Out of curiosity, is she a minimalist? If not, perhaps a good video would be about what it’s like to date someone who isn’t a minimalist, just an idea. Great video btw, they are always so well done.
Awesome video! I'm struggling with getting away from screens and although I'm a lot better with not mindlessly spending, I still have moments of weakness and will buy stuff I end up decluttering in a few months. It's definitely going to take time to create better habits. Oh, and tell your cats I said, "pspsppspspspspsp"
as someone who has mental health issue, its always been impossible to practice minimalism. sometimes, the urge of impulsive buying is unbearable. i always look for something to buy online. there are times where i bought it bcs of i lose to impulsivity, and regret it later bcs im no longer using it. however, i try to control the urge to buy and practice minimalism. what i do? i try very hard to find reasons not to buy such as think deeply on the later consequence for regretting the decision and sometimes i try to look for flaws for the items that i want to buy like electronic items. there are things i cannot live with and that is my phone and my earpiece bcs i want to distract myself from you know listening to the voices inside my head. so sometimes my impulsive buying consists of upgrading to new phone and sometimes upgrading to a newer earbuds. so, to those who deals with mental health issue, i know the struggle of practicing minimalism. bcs youre not alone.
I personally like minimalism and even I do a bit of it. But I also keep my hobbies around like collecting stuff which is not minimalism. I like finding right balance , where to go minimal , and where sometimes it's okay to buy what you want just financially responsible. I'd feel bad if I work so hard and didn't spend it well. I like somewhat of tech collection , but I don't completely throw away old. I do avoid to talk about minimalism in open because some people just slap minimalism as Black/White everything. your not minimal on instagram unless you have black/white or lighter furniture or An iphone with no cover.. That's just a fun thing to say but I'm serious you'll find people who focus more on buying " minimal " stuff to " look " minimal.. And I don't know what that is . Consumerism ? or Non-minimal ; Minimalism.
Btw a video on social media would be a killer I think, like a proper introspective on your experience on it and beating it and how your life is now. It's a huge pandemic and more and more people are trying to go with dumb phones and detaching from it all.
I watch entirely too much TV and scroll on my phone too much, sometimes even at the same time. Things I want to do more are learning to play the piano better, studying Geography on my globe and writing more postcards to my faraway grandchildren. I have made some progress in minimizing my possessions.
I would love to do the Minimalist thing for my office at least. But, wow, I have so many books that I love and other items that need to be on my wall or placed properly. It feels like it will take forever to get there.
As regular watcher of your videos I want to ask 1 question that : Any reason behind your little stop in the video at 1:03 ? Because I mark that in every video you take small stop.
How do you live a minimalist lifestyle when your partner just needs to keep family stuff and has hobbies like art? When you move in, does the minimalist who is not attached to stuff just use their partner's couch, table, etc.... She really is trying to declutter, but they are all memories. I'm sure there are many of us in this situation.
The hard part is staying one, thanks to others whining about your lifestyle. “When are you going to get some furniture? Here, have a ton of knickknacks for Christmas and your birthdays. What are you going to put in this room, don’t you know every square millimeter of space has to be inundated with useless clutter and junk?” 🙄
these awkward stares in the intros are getting more and more Oscar-worthy. i actually felt embarrassed. bravo, sir, bravo.
😂
What's the background behind doing that?
hehehe
Your ability to generate anticipation during the pause is art.
