my son loved "dog man" books as well as "captain underpants." he also liked "diary of a wimpy kid" series. i think part of it was the pictures/comics in most of those books, but it definitely seemed to spark an interest in reading. he's 13 now, and reads big novels like the harry potter series and hunger games series. another thing we did was read to him every night from a more advanced novel until he was about 11/12 years old. this started with a book/series called "warriors: into the wild" which is about a group of wild tabby cats (my son is really into animals), then turned into us reading harry potter together, which led to him reading the sequels on his own. now, every time he's in trouble for something and has his video games taken away, he'll choose to read to entertain himself! :)
My kids didn't like to read either when they were younger. My youngest had apraxia and didn't talk forever. She reads all the time now (22) . Had to find something she was Interesed in . Anything anime and Manga like stuff worked for all 3 of my kids. They are into gaming and pokemon. Maybe the the pokemon books if he likes those.
My youngest son is now 22, he loved the series of diary of a whimpy kid. I bought the entire series. He could not put the books done. He also wasn't a book reader.
I’m with you Cambria…one of the things I always said to my 3 daughters before holiday decorating is “you don’t decorate dirt!”. Now as adults I hear them saying the same to their children. It feels so much better to start off knowing it’s clean.😊 My grandsons enjoyed the Captain Underpants series when they were in 3rd, 4th grade.
Omgosh!! I'm so an introvert and don't have the gift of talking with others. It's awkward for me too. I'm a stay at home mom also. Your my friend to me just through watching your videos. Your my encouragement to get things done thank you.
I read City of Ember to my 3rd grade students & it was the only book I’ve ever read where parents would email me saying their kiddo was crying & upset bc they’d miss school & therefore a chapter from the books. Literally happened multiple times. It’s a series. 10/10 recommend. 💡
Mom of a 3rd grader here🙋🏼♀️I would ask his teacher what she would recommend for his reading level. Or even your local library. Let him spend time in the books, read the descriptions, and see what he might be interested in. I know that when River isn't feeling like reading, I can take her to the library and it gets here excited again.
Oh, you know, I have another suggestion for Bjorn as well. I have a 14 year old autistic son. He was a late reader, but one thing he got hooked on doing at around 8-9 years old, was reading fact books while he ate. So we homeschool and we have tons of kid type encyclopedia books. Like “How it’s made” and “The Human Body” or “Machines” and stuff like that. But also quite a few Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and Guinness Books of World Record books. He has read through all of these multiple times now. Another though is Minecraft books. He loves to get the cheat books at the library and read through those. Or the character books.
Definitely a great idea to find some book series to hook Bjorn. When I was young, I loved books by Gerald Morris. All of the ones about King Arthur and his knights. I would actually read them aloud to my mom, and she loved them too. The sense of humor in it is surprising and enjoyable 😊
❤ I just saw where someone commented about Roald Dahl's books. My daughters LOVED him. I even enjoyed reading them myself because they were funny and had great descriptions of a lot of silly characters. And one of my daughters grew up to get a degree in English, and I know that his books put her on that path of excelling in language arts. Both daughters also really loved Harry Potter as did my husband. Loved your video today as always! 🤗
My boys loved Goosebumps books. I was able to get my oldest to read them and he has dyslexia and other reading disabilities. Sometimes the kids just hate reading because it is too hard for them. But if that is not Bjorn's problem, try those books. They were a hit with my kids. Of course I am way older than you and so are my kids 😄😄😄💗💗💗
Congrats! You are two thousand away from 200,000 subscribers! Looks like you have some great suggestions for books for Bjorn. I would like to add that kids who may not love reading can be hooked if they are read to. If you read a chapter or two of some classics like Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, The Secret Garden, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe every night or even a couple times a week, you can make a reader. Also just leave some books laying around on the side tables, desks, in the bathroom. Totally agree that it feels good to get a fridge and freezer under control! All the best with Athena's check up. She seems like a quite content baby. You definitely look like you have lost a lot of inches in this video. Happy for you!
Hi Cambiea….. a retired schoolteacher here. Try the Magic Tree House series or The Box Car Children series. Definitely start with book one since they are series. One thing I want you to know though….if Language Arts is his worst subject….only work on getting it up & keeping it up to average. You will NEVER make it his strongest subject. Focus the most time helping him soar where his strengths lie. I think he will get hooked on the “Magic Tree House” books right away. Start by reading to him 20 minutes, then he reads to you 20 minutes. Let Freya listen too. It’ll be fun together. You should see him reading on his own just to see what happens next very soon. Best of luck!❤
Thanks for the inspiration Cambria! My kids are grown, but I wanted to weigh in on the book series. Goosebumps, Lemony Snicket, any Roald Dahl, Magic Tree House, Chronicles of Narnia.
My best advice for Reading is to both do reading and audio. He can read a lot more by listening and therefore get a head in his classes. And then read on the side also. That the advice we give at my job gives kiddos like your (work as a child psychologist with speech teachers for schools)
Thank you for another wonderful motivational video. I always seem to make a list of things to do which is quite overwhelming to try to complete with all the other daily life stuff that happens. The HABIT IDEA and then adding chores for the week is definitely more ideal. And I am attacking my freezer today and wonder what treasure s await me LOL. Cambria you are one of my amazing online friends and we live actually in Jacksonville Florida. My parents use to live close to where you guys live. Anyways. You have helped me so much today , I have a lot on my plate right now and I actually really needed this video. God Bless you and your beautiful family ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎃👻🎃❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤ Today's video was 🔥 and right on time!! Gonna eat lunch and replay! I've also been watching your marathon videos ❤. It helps so much! Thank you for everything you do ❤.
In my family, Yorkshire Pudding is what you make in a roasting pan from the drippings after cooking a roast. Pop-overs is the same batter, but without the meat drippings prepared in those individual little cups in the oven. Christmas dinner is always roast-beef tenderloin with Yorkshire pudding. So good!
The magic treehouse books is what really got my son into reading chapter books! He is 12 now, and still loves reading. He reads every day. He started reading those books in 3rd grade.
Okay this is an old series of books but my son loved the Matt Christopher books he is now the dad of a third grader and my grandson loves the books too, they are excellent (retired teacher, administrator here). Have a great week!
Captain underpants and diary of a wimpy kid are my little granddaughters favs! They are funny books! My kids loved the goosebumps series. And so many more. I’m not even sure if the books are still in print? I can’t believe Athena is almost two months!! Wow! Time sure flies! Have a great rest of your week. And yes. You feel like a friend to me!!❤
My son loved horrible history, hunger games. Tell him to try music as he reads to help him relax. I'm dyslexic and struggle with reading I love it I use music therapy to help and I remember things better
Thank you for the motivation. I go next week for hernia surgery. Have lots to do before so I can recover . ❤i always watch till the end. 😄 Have a great day!
Since watching your channel , seeing you clean walls with a mop. I have found its the best and easiest way for me to clean my walls and floors. Living in an apartment I have to clean my walls due to pot smokers. Sadly I have allergies to the smoke. I have a dollar tree mop system with washable replaceable mop pads. I use them with dawn dish soap and sometimes bleach. Especially now with cold and flu season. I was sick, so after a week I washed my walls then my floors. I stay up on this now with this system. I can use a cloth for around knobs, and door frames. Killing the flu germs the easiest way. No more buckets for me. Oh and cleaning the kitchen cabinets is so much easier on my back. I don't like using a ladder, but the mop handle helps reach all these areas with safety in mind. Love all you show and do. ❤
Loved the video. Really helped me get up and going today. To get the things done. Ive been wanting to do. To get ready to decorate for christmas. So Thank you 😊💛
in 1737 in The Whole Duty of a Woman by Sir Alexander William George Cassey. The recipe was for a "dripping pudding" that was made using batter and the fat from roasting meat. The dish was originally served as an appetizer with gravy. The name "Yorkshire pudding" was given to the dish by Hannah Glasse in her 1747 book The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy. Ooohhh my husband makes fabulous Yorkshire pudding. We live in N.Ireland but both his Dad and mine were English men and my Dad would've eaten it with jam as a child. Thank you so much for all the info. 😊❤

Here is something that has helped my granddaughter who is a poor reader...she's improving but the way they are having her read is get the book so they can read along with the audio book...its improved her reading...she's in high school now. So it works and that's what has helped here lot

When my son (40) was young it was Goosebumps. My grandson (13) loved Captain Underpants.
My son would be 41 now. He also loved Goosebumps, and those choose your own adventure books.
Goosebumps is a good one and I think Bjorn would like that one.
Happy Birthday Angela 🎉 May God Continue To Bless You 🙏
