As I clearly state at the very start of the video, debugging has to be pre-enabled. There are various methods to so so if you haven't already, you can google them.

My phone screen has broken, but I haven't put any kind of programmes on it before it broke. The phone isn't locked with a pattern, just swipe across. The screen is totally blacked out, but I can hear an unlock sound when I swipe across.
I've followed the steps you have given in this video, when I try to copy/click and drag the link into the command prompt as administrator it won't copy. Do I need specific cables to do this?

In newer android versions, you have to accept debugging prompt on your screen. If you can see the display but touch doesn't work, use a USB Mouse via OTG. If you can't see the display either and your screen does not have a passcode, use a keyboard via OTG and press right arrow key and enter. If you have a pin or password, enter that first and press enter and the press the right key and press enter. If you have a pattern lock, GOD BLESS YOU.

If your screen is black, but you can control the phone by touchscreen, connect the phone to your PC. Then try to unlock your phone (it will take a few tries, but it is possible). This should unlock your phone's internal storage so it should be visible from the PC. Then find out how to make a screenshot. The screenshots can be found somewhere in the internal storage via PC. Then you can see a picture of the phone's screen and attempt to control the phone according to the screenshots (take them everytime you touch something). It is slow, but it can help you to enable the debugging even with black screen.

My s9 amoled screen just died out of nothing. Did'nt had the USB Debugging activate, so I connected my phone on my pc and did the screenshot method to activate screen mirroring with my tv, so i was able to activate usb debbuging this way. I did back to my pc and used the Vysor program, took the last ss to just press the "OK" button and GOT IT! Everything to get monitor of my phone and activate all backups things. Thanks for the program, I hope my case and my solution can help everyone too!

Hello, I am getting stuck at the first step itself. I cannot find the adb folder. I downloaded the drivers from the link provided by you. For some reason, at the time of installation of the driver, it says "0 files copied". I saw a couple of other videos where someone tries to install the driver and it says "4 files copied". There seems to be some issue. Can you help?

I ran the adb setup and it seemed to work I have also downloaded vysor and created the extension. I couldn't find the file that you copied to the adb folder and I couldn't find the adb folder in the C: drive. Do you have any ideas where I have gone wrong?

Adam Cepník Want to thank you. The video wasn't any use to me but I used your idea to access the smart switch app on my broken phone. Took 90 screenshots and lots of swearing but it worked. One thing I'll say for other people is that it wasn't as simple as plugging the phone in, you have to agree to the pc having access. I worked this out by plugging my new phone into the pc as obviously the screenshot technique can't be used until you've given permission to the pc on the broken phone.

Adam Cepník I can do it totally like my LCD broke but my touchscreen ia working. I wanna know how can you connect phone to PC to see files and especially screenshots and is it possible if your device is locked even if you can unlcok it, dont you have to press the button to connect?
Exeggutor Senpai You plug the charging cable into your phone and then into the usb port on the pc. You have to allow the phone to share with the pc so as Ali0the0king says you have to press the phone screen in the middle to the right (guessing where the button is) It will take a few attempts and you may have to unplug the phone from the pc and plug it back in a few times, but eventually you should be able to connect with the pc. Then you open the folder on the pc which holds your phone screenshots and you can then screenshot your phone and refresh the folder on the pc. This will then show the screenshot you've just taken on the pc. From there you can navigate and transfer files from your old phone to the new phone. It may require 100s of screenshots though!
To access my storage I have to click "Transfer files to PC etc" but I cannot see that and I cannot click anywhere because touch does not work. So I cannot access my internal storage and my phone just looks empty. Any suggestions?
Edit: I can only touch like the very top and click USB settings and after that I know I have to click around middle of the screen to enable the sharing with my PC but I cannot click the middle of the screen what should I do?

YEAH TOO BAD 99% OF THE PHONES HAVE LOCKED BOOTLOADERS.
Therefore you CAN'T USE TWRP or any other adb enabling method.
On top of that if FRP (Google lock) is enabled then it won't let you flash ANYTHING!!!
People should disclaim this before wasting other people's time!!!!!!!!
So probably the best option is to "borrow" or buy a screen temporarily to be able to unlock the screen and copy your stuff off.

you can bypass FRP by downgrading to an older version of os. I hacked an s7 edge like that the other day. Of course this is assuming that debugging is activated

I have Samsung J7 2015 model. The phone is working fine, but since the screen broke, the display is gone. And when I'm connecting it to the PC, it shows "no files found", since the phone has a pattern lock and I won't be able to unlock it, since there's no display!
Please help me out. How will I be able to recover data and transfer it to my PC ?
You have two options here if you can't get a screen replacement
1. Connect a USB Mouse via an OTG adaptor and try to enter the pattern, give it a shot, you might succeed.
If this doesn't work,
Option 2
Power off your device, wait 10 seconds and press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons at the same time. This will put your phone into recovery mode. Connect it to a computer now and see if it works with Samsung KIES or if storage shows up.
I just solved this for myself.
I bought a MHL Micro-USB to HDMI Adapter, saw the screen on my tv. The digitizer still worked for me (meaning you can still tap). I carefully tapped my passcode into my S5 and went to settings to permanently unlock my phone.
I then installed Wifi file transfer from my computer and bam, all my files from my phone I saved to my computer (the ones I wanted at least).
edited: My phone was an S5. Also I now realize that the J7 does not support MHL.

if yes, then you can take repetitive screenshots, view these screenshots in you laptop/PC and get to know on which screen you exactly are and then accordingly and change things and to get things done
i installed AIRDROID on my phone via playstore. made an account on the laptop and then
took me a few tries to select "allow" settings via taking repetitive screenshots
now i can mirror my phone on my laptop
usb debugging cannot be enabled in this way, as it blacks out when you enter the settings
anyway, amid coronavirus lockdown, i can access some emergency things via mirroring
ps: i cannot control my phone via laptop but i can see the screen and then touch on my "working touchscreen" to get things done like changing alarm, etc

what i once did was connected the mouse to my phone, via an OTG cable
what i knew was that the mouse cursor comes exactly in the centre
based on certain guesses that where my cursor might me at this point
i was able to unclock my lockscreen. you can try this if you are comfortable

you must press enter after dragging the Vysor file. Only then the command will be executed.

Using TWRP recovery, go to System folder in your phone and copy the build.prop file to your internal storage. Enable MTP in TWRP and then connect your phone to your computer and copy the build.prop file.
open the file with notepad and add this line in the end
persist.service.adb.enable=1
replace this new file in the system folder.

Hey, i followed all of the steps, i installed the usb drivers, everything was going well untill i oppened up vysor, it doesn't detect my device. I looked through your comments and someone had a similar issue and you told him to download usb drivers for my phone, i downloaded the correct ones. But it still doesn't want to detect my device.

Either google how to run command prompt from any folder or if you have windows powershell then that's the same.

It seems like you need to have previously enabled USB Debugging in Developer Mode on your phone. I would expect this video to not work for most Android owners. You should really point out that for most of the world, THIS WILL NOT WORK since they have never done any Android development or anything like that, and never enabled USB Debugging in their phone before they dropped it lol

I can't seem to create a shortcut to Vysor ... any ideas as to why i am having this issue? I've followed the video without any issues up until the point where you can remove extensions or create a shortcut.. only giving me the option to remove.
vysor seems really buggy to me. It only displays a black screen for me. I can control the phone and take screenshots fine (i can actually see the screen) but on the display it just stays black and it also crashes every time it finishes the ad countdown.

Hello, at the 1:28 mark, when I try to follow that section, i get this message and that stops me in my tracks for this:
The term 'nodpi' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.
Admittedly I am using windows poweshell as I don't know how to open the command prompt from the adb window (1:10mark), it isn't a selectable option like it is on your video.
Any help would be appreciated!

Appreciate you getting back to me, but in the end Samsungs' own Smart Switch copied all the data from the old phone with a broken screen and transferred it to the new one, quick, easy, no faffing about.
