I couldn't agree more with Anupam Mital's perspective on how some individuals find contentment in a mediocre life, ultimately hindering their potential for growth. It's eye-opening to see how complacency can become a comfortable yet limiting space for some. BUT life is a subjective journey, and we all navigate it in our own way.
What Actually hit me Like a bus was when anupam said "In the WEST communication responsibility is of the SPEAKER that addresses a CROWD whereas in INDIA we do it opposite creating more problems due to confusions." That was like awesome insight.
Absolutely Right, we usually think ourselves as fools if we are not able to understand something said by someone, rather than the speaker taking the responsibility to explain in a more lucid mannner.
Love the way Anupam explains his perspective. The clarity of thought is just incredible So different from typical entrepreneurs with good academic backgrounds and making it big through hard work but also alumni support from funding companies . Anupam brings a wealth of life experience which makes him so interestingly different. Thanks Shantanu for getting the best out of Anupam. And Shantanu man you can’t stop yourself from having chips. Guess they were meant more for the guest than you :))
Despite being someone with no entrepreneurial ambitions as of now, I can say this is one of the best podcast episodes I've ever seen. It leaves you with insights about something far greater, that is..life. Amazing👏🏼
@@ronmiller3741 We should achieve our goals by setting a destination. If first we could reach anupams level, the we can aim for these big Whales. The thing is not making someone idol, aim is to achieve the level the are on currently.
This is what you become when you live abroad for foreseeable time, struggle, gather global perspective and then come back to the India. I'm currently in the UK and aspiring to become the same when I return baack to my home land India♥️
I loved the fact that Anupam literally called out complacent people being content with their complacency. This hinders the aspirations that an individual has. Clarity without a vision and purpose is nothing. Hearing those market insights and hacks which play a huge role answered my questions that I had my whole life. Would love to see more of such candid convos where both of em are passionate to explain why this happpens and explain the cause to that effect.
The responsibility of communication was a great bit. Please make a short out of it. I want my team to see this and a short will help to drive the point across while attributing proper credit
Anupam bhai, killing it. It is one of the very few video where I am not forwarding it at all, even if I miss a second I am going back and listening to it again , thank you guys for getting together 😊
@23:19 The BIGGEST test of any communication/training/speech/conversation/feedback is the golden rule we learnt WHILE I was managing about 3-400 people in a call centre... The golden rule is to "CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING-CFU" it's one of my favourite cliches and it works EVEN while teaching Math to my 10 yr old... You CANNOT go WRONG, in fact, if you don't CFU, there's almost certainty that you WILL go WRONG
Same path I am right now onto like what anupam sir said and I too know , today am working my ass off but soon I'll achieve it❤️. I love the vibe he has.
Sir Shantanu, saw your recent reel about your student's character development , how could someone go through that kind of CHANGE with less resources , really inspired by the razor-preneur thing and learned a lot from your podcasts ❤❤ love from MH
So amused to see that podcasts are teaching more than the Indian education system ever could. It's more on practicality. I'm 16 years old and Shantanu what you're doing is absolutely amazing
First time in my life i listened to a 2 hour conversation without even pausing for a second. The quality of this conversation is too good. Waiting eagerly every Friday for your next video ❤
I've learned a lot from this wonderful podcast, but the last 1-2 minutes completely captivated me. 1. Develop skills that will help you in your entrepreneurial journey over the next 1 or 2 decades. 2. Focus on figuring out how to do a meaningful work. My problem was that I used to observe the problems faced by people and come up with business ideas to solve them, but I was always incapable and lacked resources. And what prevents me from jumping out and solving the problem is the conviction that "a rocket without sufficient fuel will always miss the orbit and crashland". Now, with Anupam's advice, I can go and build capabilities for myself and not be insecure about the ideas during this phase. Thankyou Anupam and Shantanu. Btw, I am one of those youths who have high aspirations but lack some sort of resource or opportunity.
I never watch these long UA-cam videos but the insights from Shantanu and his guests are too good to miss. It reminds me of marketing classes during my MBA days. Amazing content and a real value addition to viewers in terms of quality and time spent! I think Shantanu, you should make small video shorts on your insights. They are so good and deep !😅 it's almost a dopamine hit. No wonder you like McKinsey so much 😅😅
I don’t comment on any videos but this was so inspiring and insightful that i couldn’t resist myself to post… amazing and very motivational video thank you so much for this Anupam and Shantanu!! I will post about this video when i will achieve my goal 🙏
This episode have been truly revolutioninsg to me , Recoverring from a painful surgery as I watch this on my bed, hoping to stand up again, it has already given me idea to try once again in my life. I will apply for internships at both of your founder's office and try my luck.
I work at a start-up here in the UK. I had an idea but was hesitant to act on it. However, after listening to Anupam, I've decided to hire some people in India and get my project off the ground.
First 15 mins : Got confused about who's channel is this 15% story teller and 85% realistic sharing ..anupam..u rock man Inspiring conversation.. you had a good family which instilled default confidence level from your early life..however it doesn't stop common man to get inspired. Note: shantanu...ur the boss..keep going
Great Podcast. Lots of great ideas been shared by the 2 great entrepreneurs. Love to see India move towards $10 trillion dollar economy in my lifetime. They also talked about Lululemon. Nice to hear about this great brand. Their head office is right across our building in Vancouver. Didn't know that this brand is popular in India as well. Hope Indian entrepreneurs create some great international brands in this coming decade.
How does one get investement? Have a business that has been running successfully since past 13 years but need a leverage for expansion. Who to approach? How to approach?
Amazing to see such great insights from Anupam and Shantanu thanks for bringing this to us....which never happened before....still struggling to do my own thing from 2011 I guess it's not easy for everyone it would be great if you both could provide an interactive platform for such people...who otherwise don't end up scrolling the reels
Historically, we operated within tight constraints, and opportunities were exceedingly scarce. Consequently, the proverb "Only the king's son will become the king" held significant truth. However, this situation has evolved, and it is expected to continue evolving.
Loved the podcast Shantanu and amazing questins you asked but idk i felt weird about the setup and lighting since last ep, older setup is much more pleasant to watch. Cheers
bought a bombay shaving company post shave balm 6 years ago, been using it after every shave and the bottle is still half full after 6 years. no idea how this guy is getting repeat customers since the bottle doesnt need replacing even after 10 years lol
Amazing chat... Really fascinating consumer insights. As a BFSI guy I am always fascinated by the consumer goods sector (and the insights from it)... Totally Loved It! Great job Shantanu and thanks once again for doing this amazing stuff...
This podcast such a sublime mix of intellectualism and practicality - mixed with real life entrepreneurial lessons and case studies. Kudos Shantanu, loved every minute of it!
One of the best podcasts I have seen. Thx. I wish you would ask that these people invest in 100s of companies - how do they manage them ?? Do they have a team ? How many people in a team ? Etc.
Zara and mango are very similar brand. They lower their reverse logistics by looking at sales of competitors in the same price point. Thus they have information of what brand works or not.
One word - insightful. Every segment was very productive with lot of takeaways. Anupam Mittal - your perspectives are very thought provoking and Shantanu’s 2 cents on every topic keeps the conversation very interesting. Looking forward to many more to come!!
Anupam was going good until he went on a rant about people not having an aspiration. He talks about 400 million odd people who lack ambition, aspiration whatever. Does he not know that an insanely huge chunk of our population is still below poverty line? What about those that are multidimensionally poor? This seems to be a peak boomer moment in calling a huge chunk of people to be not aspirational enough all while being in the top 0.1% earner category. Not one time does he talk about how can we generate more jobs for this labor market, how can we utilize this large capital, never. There are differences between an entrepreneur and a profit only driven investor and I think that became quite transparent here.
He talks in for a timeframe of the next decade. Like he said the next decade is for Indian entrepreneurship. So, reduction in poverty, creation of opportunities and being aspirational will go hand in hand.
Fantastic podcast, one of the best in The BarberShop. I love the diversity of topics you'll covered and provides a macro view on life, society and how businesses evolve with society. The data point on businesses growing with GDP per capita is really deep. Glad you also touched upon Ram Mandir and how its impacting older generations. Underscores the depth of thought Anupam brings from his learnings and reflection.
The wealth of knowledge shared on entrepreneurship, encompassing personal experiences and strategic perspectives, was truly vast and priceless. Learning about the history, current state, and future potential of investments in India, along with essential insights on navigating the entrepreneurial terrain, was captivating. I especially appreciate the discussion on the key challenges that upcoming entrepreneurs should prioritise in the next couple of decades. This dialogue not only emphasises the significance of resilience and long-term planning but also motivates all of us aiming to create a significant impact in the business realm. Your dedication to bringing forth these valuable insights is highly commendable!

We keep making bill gates,Elon Musk, Steve Jobs our idols, but we have a goldmine of great founder like Anupam in India.

i truly relate with Anupam's talk on "Why Only 1 Zara", and why are we not aspiring to build one for us, but not long i guess.
Shantanu - Yes. It does Impact at least 1 person to go out and try doing some bunch of things.
Was waiting for this soooo badly . Enjoyed it to the fullest
Shantanu eating chips in between is disturbing a lot
Your attention is deficit because anupam's voice is very holding
