I've watched dozens of videos, trying to find methods that are easy to understand and your material is by far the most simple and easy to understand. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Excellent video man! I live in CT and just got my E-2 about 6-7 months ago. I worked for a company for my whole apprenticeship and then maybe 2 months after I got my license. The whole time there, all I was taught was how to rough apartments, trim & hot punch and undergrounds. They never taught me how to bend EMT or do switchgear. That deff frustrated me. So I left to go to a smaller company. I’ve been there for almost 4 months and they do tonssssssss of pipe bending. I have to learn it and this video has deff helped!!
Congratulations on passing your E2. That is a big issue in this business. I am glad my video's are helping you. Please email me I would like to pick your brain and see what I can do to help others and yourself. my email is sparkyinstructor@gmail.com!! Hope to talk soon.!! CM
We don’t need shrink in this example. Since we are not leaving a box and entering another. It’s simply making the correct bends to get over the obstruction
a simple way to teach. I watched other video is too complicated. You need master's degree to under what they talking about lol. Great job and thank you.
You didn't add shrinkage. Instead of 12" it should have been 13 1/2 " cause you get 1/4" shrinkage with 30 degree bends. Therefore that gives you 1 1/2" inch must be added.
I’ve got a 4 point saddle going over a 8” wide and 1” high obstruction and 2” isn’t really enough to make the bends where they don’t interfere with each other
Neither did mine. This is why I have created this channel was for my students and it has started to take off. I was thinking that if I made videos that helped my students it would help others knowing that most school and other instructors can not explain thing clearly. This way has worked wonders in the learning process for my students!! Thank you for the comment. CM
For this demonstration I used the center of the conduit. I was just showing how to bend a 4 point saddle. I have not done a video on shrinkage but I would find the center or an object and then add the shrinkage. You can find the size in an Uglys book. I will do a video explaining shrinkage soon. Thank you for watching!! CM
They need to know that 1/4 per inch of rise is your shrink and you adjust that center mark accordingly , all other marks will adjust EX: 6” rise multiply by 1/4=1-1/2 “ shrink So if the center of the obstruction is normally ex: 30” you’d make your center mark at 31 1/2.
why is the shrink applied only once for both offset (2 bends) and the 4 point saddle (4 bends)?, It seems it should be applied twice since you are bending the conduit 4 times in the 4 point saddle instead of 2 times in a offset.
Great question!! Shrink is based on the RISE of the object the you are going over. You can only apply it to the side you are measuring from or the starting point. Also the 4 point saddle is one considered one bend just like an offset is one bend. Yes there are more then one bend but that is how it needs to be looked at. Shrink is only applied once for that reason. I hope this helps you!!! Thanks for watching!!! CM
You know what’s crazy I was in local 441 ibew and they did a 30 minute pipe bending lab in my first year, and 30 minutes light switch and receptacle lab that’s it!!!! And sent us out to commercial jobs like UCI medical center. They collect money from the government for having apprenticeships and aren’t doing a good job if we can learn more in a five minute video on you tube
Im in IBEW Local 3. The apprenticeship schooling is kinda of a joke. The exams are ridiculously easy to pass. You would have to try to fail and that’s the only requirement needed to get promoted every year.
Didn't explain or applied shrinkage. It may seem little but over time, having to cut and couple different lengths costs alot of time. Sucks if you're just an inch off to the box and now you have to take it down cut off and cut a another piece to make it.
Los Cruzmartz Thank you for watching!! I hope you learned from my video!! Check out more of my video's I put out new ones every Monday and Thursday! If there is anything you would like to see please comment on any of the video's. Thank you for subscribing!!
I ve been doing this shit for 24 years if you are a beginner run from this shit unless you wanna have a fucked up life dealing with stupid inspectors and stupid rules other trades make so much more money with less problems Electricans , plumbers have it the worst
The best explanation and example I've seen. Kept it simple and straightforward. Good vid.
Funny comment... until you put it in place to find out that all measurements are wrong
I've watched dozens of videos, trying to find methods that are easy to understand and your material is by far the most simple and easy to understand. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Short, sweet and to the point, best video I’ve seen on doing a 4 bend saddle

Very great video, straight to the point, short and simple. A great instructor!
By far one of the easiest tutorial videos I have found without having to think I needed a damn PHD in mathematics and science, watching other videos.
So glad you enjoyed it!!! I wanted to make it as easy as possible. Thank you for watching!! CM
Lmaooo same thing I was thinking
This is the done greatest video on this topic! THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR TALENT .So many people lack the ability to explain things
Just used this video to bend my first 4 point and it came out beautifully
Good and simple. Best video I’ve seen yet. (Just a reminder kids)Remember to use the arrow for the bends
The most simplest explanation I was able to find thank you! 🙏
You have the best videos simple and reliable
Wow!!! That was the best explanation I have ever seen!!! Thank you so much!!!!
This is by far the best 4 point saddle explanation on UA-cam and what’s even cooler is the instructor making those bends look so easy haha.
The more you bend pipe, the easier it gets.
You need to add your shrink, if someone watches this video and goes and does it in the field they're gonna be way off with a 6" rise
We don’t need shrink in this example. Since we are not leaving a box and entering another. It’s simply making the correct bends to get over the obstruction
Tweaking is always the last mark 😆 very straightforward demonstration. Awesome
Thank you so much my instructor made this seem so complicated and you just made it easy for me within a few minutes
Watched these videos before starting my a new job helped a bunch thanks for this amazing material.
Best conduit vids on the site! 10/10
dont all of the measurements change when adding in shrinkage?
Technically yes. But in practice it seems to have little effect on the end product
For this saddle it should be 1.5” shrinkage. Anyways just cut off an end to make fit if you have to.
Yes for a thirty degree angle it's 1/4 inch of shrinkage for every inch of rise, if you don't factored in your shrinkage it won't fucking fir
Hes the only one that shows you this way good job
Super informative thank you. I’m confident I’m gonna be bending 4 point saddles soon
Al al al
So glad it worked out for you!! CM
straightforward to the point.. the best explanation!
a simple way to teach. I watched other video is too complicated. You need master's degree to under what they talking about lol. Great job and thank you.
Thank you for all the excellent videos.
Short and straight to the point thanks again
Best video out there for pipe bending thank you teacher

Excellent video teacher. Keep doing it!

Do a 10 degree offset
Great video! So helpful. My Tech School did not lecture on this subject.
Neither did mine. This is why I have created this channel was for my students and it has started to take off. Best so far
Interesting! Do you have videos on more complicated bends?
How you do determine your middle? Does it have to be in the middle of the conduit?
no shrinkage?
great videos.... new favorite channel
Great video!
Thanks big guy...I always like watching pipe bending...grt vid....
Great teacher love his videos
Hi Craig, How did you determine where the center mark goes on the pipe? Thank you
For this demonstration I used the center of the conduit. I was just showing how to bend a 4 point saddle. For the 4 point saddle did you use the marks on the tear drop?
You don't add the shrink to 1st mark?
You do but I did not show this in the video as I use it in my class to just show them the basic bend. Thanks. CM
They need to know that 1/4 per inch of rise is your shrink and you adjust that center mark accordingly , all other marks will adjust
EX: 6” rise multiply by 1/4=1-1/2 “ shrink

Best and easy,thank you!
This video is gonna get me a raise 😎
Thats awesome!! Glad I could help!! CM
Thanks for getting to the point 👍🏻👍🏻

LU 523 Its the same here. Its sad
Hi. I am trying to figure out how to bend a emt to resemble a seahorse type frame for balloon decor. Can you assist with measurements?
Gracias good video and simple to understand
is using the arrow better than the center to front marks technique?
Yes because it is the same as 2 offsets. It will shrink on you and will be smaller. Great question. Thanks for watching!! CM
Thank, you our job so easy
Is he talking about center of the conduit, then split the difference of the distance of the obstruction?
very good explanation but what about shrinkag
Mark 1 is the most important mark...adding shrink when adjoining this pipe to the pipe run is the only correct way to do it
Thank you
谢谢
Appreciate the information
Lay the pipe on its side on the ground to check for dog legs no?
I bend off sets using the star that also works...
Enjoyed!
Thank you so much
I like the push through method.. its a lot easier
Hell yeah! Thanks man
Very good
🧐 You the best.
Did u measure 12 “ because 6” was the shrink ?? Thanks
If your using 30 degrees your double you height. 6 inches high at 30 degrees would make you two bends 12" apart
What about shrink calculation?
Exelente my friend
awesome video, thanks
I am glad you enjoyed my video. I really appreciate to positive feed back!! Thank you for watching!! CM
Show your mark on emt, zoom the camera near to emt
Nothing about shrink or adjust?
Nice Video my teacher
So from bend 1 to 3 theres a 10in separation?
Yes because the box is 10" inches wide
Didn't explain or applied shrinkage. It may seem little but over time, having to cut and couple different lengths costs alot of time. Sucks if you're just an inch off to the box and now you have to take it down cut off and cut a another piece to make it.
Him: That’s it
Cuts camera 😂
Exelent mr craig

Thanks
Bend number #3 goes the same direction as bend #1. In other words both of them get bent in the same direction
on the board it reads: Black = 120v Red = 120v Blue = neutral Green = ground. Say what?
Why 12 inch both sides ?
You have a multiplyer of 2 for a 30 degree bend
Ok now use that same method with 1-1/4” emt
2022 thanks
Maaaan i did evrything you did step by step my obstruction was w 21” and D 10” and ended up with a 25” w and 13” D now i lost my job
Yeah! This only works for small objects if I’m trying to go over a beam 25” height shit won’t work!
Please explain?
thanks
I hope my video helped you. Thank you for watching my videos!! CM
Ok let's actually measure to center though
I ve been doing this shit for 24 years if you are a beginner run from this shit unless you wanna have a fucked up life dealing with stupid inspectors and stupid rules other trades make so much more money with less problems Electricans , plumbers have it the worst
Please explain?
For got your shrinkage there bud
السلام عليكم ممكن اضافة الترجمة للغة العربية
Now do it on a 10ft pipe
Plz visa
A No Dog helps
Jonny Saenz You are so right. I only use a no dog when bending big pipe. Its not as accurate when hand bending!! Thanks for watching my video!! CM
22.5 degrees works out best, not 30 degrees
muchas gracias
Very good
Thanks
