@@smalismThe problem is, many people do not realize the ways of grandiose people who have narcissistic and pathological lying tendencies. I used to be attracted to people who were like that because I have a mother like that, but I realize now with these people and can spot people who want to be "The center of attention, the star of the show, and the community savior. While not everyone is the same, and sometimes this can be the case with people and being grandiose and talktive/wanting-attention, people need to watch and notice suble instances of abuse, etc. It's hard ot know without actually having knowledge on the subject though. For some, they want attention because they were never given it. For me, I always loved talking, because I had parents who never listened to me. They were busy always trying to be right and be heard, always talking over me/each-other.
So many people get caught up and believe others are "telling the truth." Whenever I engage in conversations, I try to do so in good faith, but so many people are trolling, want to be right, don't care, or have an agenda so it's hard to know what you're dealing with. WITh Bitchell, he only cares about using others to further himself. He didn't care about the other guy, and the reason is that this Vanburen guy is probably "Star Struck." OMG BITCHELL IS TALKING TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!?????????????
It's like Michael Jordan talking to an NBA fan, the fan is going to be star struck and would do anything MJ asks.

The only thing I can see from Billy Mitchell's point of view is this:
      1) He's a ludicrously gifted classic video game player.
      2) Despite that, he's also been outclassed by others in recent times.
      3) He's had so much of his identity wrapped up in being the top Donkey Kong player that he was willing to cheat to keep it going.
      4) He didn't expect the world at large to care enough about long forgotten video games to think they'd a) Feel the need to catch him out (thanks in no small part to the King of Kong documentary) and b) Once they have caught him out, relentlessly attempt to expose him.
      5) Now that he realises the world hasn't bought his lies, he probably feels like he's too far gone to admit it now. There would have been a point where he could have admitted he was deceitful, but he chose to double down on the lies instead. I'm positive if he could go back in time, he wouldn't have cheated, or at least wouldn't have lied when caught.
None of the cheating changes point 1. His skills at Donkey Kong and Pac-Mac far surpass most of the world. If he graciously let Steve Wiebe win, he would have been applauded for passing on the torch, and his Twin Galaxy entourage would have continued to respect him. But he's tainted his reputation and would now be living a very stressful existence. I feel for him in some strange way. It's not like he's killed someone. He's just cheated at a video game contest. But until he admits that, the world's not going to let him move on.
