Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

Houston is fantastic. We're thrilled to share his insights. Thanks for watching.
This info is worth it's weight in gold for new film makers
I watched this four times and gained a Masonic knowledge of it.last month , I approached an investor and secured the deal …. Thanks from the bottom of my heart
Preparing to pitch my first two novels at a writer's conference next month and there are so many good ideas for how to succeed here, it's incredible.
Go get 'em Josh. We're excited for where you are on your journey. Our best to you.
@@filmcourage Thanks!
This guy is brilliant when it comes to storytelling!!!
Amazing content! Very grateful. Howard Houston is a gem. Thank you for your time. Will put this information to very good use. Sending lots of love from Toronto
Congratulations Film Courage! ... Most all your interviews are informative and interesting, but this segment blew things out of the water for me!
Wow! ... It is like ... 'forget what you know, or what you think you know', after listening to Houston Howard deliver these articulate answers about
building stories, I feel like I died and got re-born again in 2020 ... Absolutely Amazing Insight!
(and to the girl who hosts this program > sorry, I do not know your name)
How wonderful for you to have the opportunity to converse with such inspiring individuals in "Film Courage Movie World"
*** the Film Courage Super Story! ***
Thank you, Dave! :)
I felt like Neo being introduced to the Matrix when I watched this. Completely changed what I thought was possible in the industry
If you outline your story to include transmedia, then write your story leaving out some of the details you create transmedia content with the "missing details", even Mark Twain understood this before the internet in his style of writing.
I love this guy. Very intelligent and practical. I just learnt lot about transmedia storytelling in two hours. Something I've been trying to learn from online tutorial platforms for months. Kudos guy.
- Nelly from Nollywood Nigeria.
Thanks for posting Nelly! Love to hear how helpful this was to you. Cheers!
This is a great video and it's what I need righr now to understand what I'm doing. Thank you so much Film Courage! I have a character idea but I worked on the history of events first during the pandemic like periods, wolrds, eventually everything made sense. I have several magic systems and items. Now, I'm in the process of creating the vehicle to explore these settings. IP, Transmedia, it all has a term, afterall! Praying I really pull this off and then I can ask for professional assistance hopefuly.
Keep inspiring Film Courage...
Thank you for this wonderful interview!❤
1:33:25 Even if you skim the rest, watch this bit. Transmedia as the way to make sure your message reaches as widely as possible is the best selling point in the whole talk.
2:37:51 "If you can make people happy, that is the greatest achievement of an entertainer"
Thanks so much!
All i can say to this? WOW! a big WOW!
Thanks Film courage! ❤️
Love this and Houston Howard! As always, awesome content from Film Courage!!
Much appreciated! Thanks Serene. Keep creating!
This guy is a genius! I’m excited, the future has never looked so good!
I needed this... when I'm finished my project I'd love to show you how I applied this information..what's the best way to contact u?
This is so good. He very updated! Ive been working in the world of advertising for most of my life and I am doing more film-related projects now. And a lot of the way he is thinking about surviving in a creative business and how to think of it and concepts is so very relatable to the challenges I am facing daily. This is soooo great! Thanks!
We love Houston. It's great to read your comment Raymond and see how someone in advertising is benefiting from this interview. Awesome to reach different aspects of the industry. Thanks for the comment.
@@filmcourage You are most welcome. I am actually directing a documentary and writing a a script for a sci-fi short. I am taking my experience with creating ideas and concept into character development and world building , so this video was a gift for me:)
This was freaking awesome! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this guy is GaryVee for Movies, I love it.
I love the NSA shirt!
Only 10K Views for probably the most important information a Indie Filmmaker needs right now?
Guess I won't have much competition then.
wow i thought was writing wrong/ thanks for validation
Why did you think you were writing wrong?
Oh, and wasn’t Houston’s prediction about the “Game of Thrones” finale kinda on-point as far as the throne going to someone we would not expect?
Interesting stuff. . .except the part about TFA. That Disney trilogy trash is horrible.
How many transmedia projects has Houson Howard specifically sold and gotten off the ground since he implemented his business philosophy?
Thank you for the comments. He's been involved with projects, he's an author and teacher. Are you a filmmaker? Looks like you have a nice UA-cam channel. Do you write?
At this point I like to say I'm a writer by delusion. Repetitive stress injuries, and other health and financial concerns have kept me from writing the majority of my ideas out in detail for some time, but I'm trying to power through them now, because I feel like I'm losing so much time.
About ten years ago I was trying to get an independant film made, with a student filmmaker, but it didn't really work out.
I should say I'm not trying to bash Houston Howard, I see this as a "to a hammer everything looks like a nail" scenario. I have at least two ideas outlined that I imagine could benefit from a transmedia approach of some kind, but I find it hard to believe it's something that artists should always be thinking about. Which seems to be more or less the philosophy Howard communicates in these interviews.
When big multi-media companies bank on this approach the results can quite often be embarrassing as well. Like the aforementioned "Beastly" or the "Dark Universe" monster movies.
Please excuse the late reply. We appreciate the willingness to share your story. Would urge you to keep going. If a film is not in the cards, maybe a novel, etc. It can be tricky to find the right collaborators just because everyone is busy or has a different creative idea. And yes even making a short or web series can add up financially. Sorry to hear about some of the things you're dealing with. We hope you're able to revisit a new or past project soon. :)
