I previously had a trainer that would quite literally get mad at me for picking any distance I saw, long or short. I lost all my confidence and ended up not being able to see any distances. This video was very helpful to me, I appreciate you putting it out there that you just have to trust what you see and make it happen, because when you second guess is when things go wrong.
Oh how terrible, none of us are perfect and to expect to see perfect distances every time is madness . I really hope your accepting what you see and hear and have got your confidence back .
Neveah Baranko great time hear , the video helps. I have over 60 videos so check out my website or my UA-cam channel to see the others . He is a lovely horse, he is a chestnut Roan
9 years but I've never jumped...today a miracle happened since my dictionary didn't contain the word distance and I accidently jumped the pole instead of cantering it...now I came here to know abt distance😅

Try looking at the ground rail as it makes you ride a closer distance, instead of counting the rhythm out loud, say the word Sit, sit each canter step to remind you to sit on your backside and be patient for the stride.
How have I missed this channel!? Short videos to the point, very easy to comprehend!!
Bryan Williams thanks so much . I really appreciate your positive feedback

*when you already know how to judge distance but you want to see how others explain it*
Yes sometimes it's just worded differently and makes riders think "oh I get it"
Love these vids. So easy to follow. Bite sized steps to really help. Thank you!

@@KirstinKellyEquestrian awe thank you for letting me know but sadly i live in sweden :(
So a stride is each step the horse takes?
When I go over a jump I always seem to see a longer stride then my horse, wich causes me to 2 point to early. How do I fix that?

idk how but as a dressage rider i normally see strides pretty well when i do cavaletti 😂
As a dressage rider, you will have a great sense of rhythm which will make jumping cavaletti easy. Keep it up as the horses love the variety.
Slayyyyy
