Thanks great stuff! Also they're not on pre-order anymore as of yesterday they are out worldwide in all three of our warehouses now (Australia, USA, UK)
I wanted sci-fi brodie helms for so long. From the release (and my brothers interest) of Les Grognards I dreamed of Space Waterloo. But since by nephew gained a love for mini painting I gave my box of Bulldogs to him for his birthday. My dream of Space Waterloo can live on their shelf, a good father son project for them to bond over.
This is another useful box for steampunk lovers, I remember reading in the early '80s a french comic about 19th century europeans colonizing the space(!), don't remember the name, but this could be an interesting premise.
I really like the pith helmets and the Brodie helmets. I recently ordered a box of these! I'm planning to use them for Planet 28 and Five Parsecs from Home. I love the Wargames Atlantic kits for kitbashing!
Great review. Makes me even more tempted to get a box for a Stargrave Crew (the mixed nature of stargrave crews would also be a great excuse to use ALL the helmets...)
What caught my eye with these guys was the brodie helmets with the gas masks. That, combined with the options to go full WWI/WWII diesel punk with them is the seller for me. I REALLY like how the WWI inspired fellow turned out. I've been waiting for the new Traitor Guard for Kill Team to come out (to add to my Blackstone Fortress dudes), but I might have to put off buying them just yet and grab me a box of these guys. I just love diesel punk aesthetic and these guys have it in spades. And you can never beat Wargames Atlantics prices vs. quality of their box sets. I have a few and I've never been disappointed yet. Yeah, buying these guys this week for sure and then using this tutorial to bang a bunch out for old Kill Team and Stargrave.
Holy smokes man. I would have never thought this kit was something that I would be interested in. The boxart didn't sell me on them. But seeing the grey and the sprue is nice! These are actually really great.
Yeah, I have to agree. I think the ones painted for the box cover are prototypes or something, too - their knee pads are a different shape to the ones that're on the sprues now, and I didn't much like how they looked to begin with. They're much nicer than I'd thought!
Boy is my wife going to be mad at you....again. You are always introducing me to miniatures that I feel I just need to paint. Great job and keep up the great work.
I was really tempted to get some of those - but I'm waiting for my SpaceNam minis to come through first so I really should wait until I get those done. Great job painting those!
Even though SpaceNam will be one of the less value-for-money kits (20 models for $40, rather than 24 for $35 that's standard for WA), it's still a better deal than GW Catachans. Better sculpts, too. Reptilian Overlords really do some great work, and I'm glad they're working with Wargames Atlantic on this.
Those weapons are sweet. I've seen someone kitbash Le Grognards with WGA's WW1 Germans. Those lasguns needed some serious kitbashing. Using those rifles would be a big upgrade to make them look better.
Those are very nice looking figures and they do have a lot of options. The options alone make it worth the purchase. I like the color schemes you used and they look great! Thanks for sharing this.
This just sold me on trying contrast. Hopefully the army painter stuff does just as good as that's more affordable for me. I'd probably leave the armour white on the Praetorian myself.
As usual another great video, but I had a really good chuckle when I saw what you were doing, because when I got home from work and sat down to paint my now very very large goblin army I was kind of watching and listening to the movie Zulu dawn. 🤣😂🙏😇🇺🇸
I was really looking forward to these but they were supposed to (or at least stated to) come out a couple of months ago. Ended up just grabbing some regular ww2 brits from a couple of boxes to make up a skirmish force instead. They do look good enough to tempt me again though :)
I am working on a box of them right now, and there are some *serious* warts. First, there are not enough guns to put the whole box together with any one type lf gun. Then there are not enough different poses with the arms. They'll look like linedancers in a real hurry. Finally, there is not any greebling, pouches, knives, etc. It is really hard to kit these out as say a guard platoon. I used the frame covers for the build, and will use the beret heads to make cadian veterans later. I rate these about a 7/10.
Sorry you’re disappointed. We can only fit so much on each sprue. We try to go for maximum weapon options because we know not every figure will have a standard rifle. In this case you can give 5/6ths standard ones
@@wargamesatlantic4740 Not enough submachine guns (since they look the most sci-fi). I'd like to see eighteen of the subguns. That would make two ten man squads with eight subguns, one heavy weapon, and one sgt with pistol and sword. How about an upgrade sprue like the one Deathfields one.
Hey! Just wanted to know, for the highlight, is it Loren Forest or Straken Green for the highlight on Castellan Green? I figured it's Straken Green as that's the one listed in the description, but just wanted to be sure, as I quite liked the way it looks. Thanks! ;)
Hey sonic love the video! I was researching your raptors chapter and cadian video. How do you avoid the coffee staining effect? No matter what I do I get a staining effect on the flat armour panels etc and really struggling with that.
I was thinking that too. Just different enough to fit the alt-history aesthetic, while being grounded enough to seem like a logical progression from Real Life.
Been looking forward to this! After seeing your original painting video with the Praetorian converted with some anvil parts, I ended up building and painting my own in that style! Looking at these, I think my guard might be getting some new conscripts :) A question you might be able to answer, do the bodies scale well at all with the cadian arms/lasguns? I have a ton leftover, so would be an easy way to make them fit in a bit more with a 40k army
I wish I could say! I actually don't have any Cadian arms spare to try it out. 😅 They *look* roughly the same size, but beyond that I can't be certain.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio good enough for me! If they don't work out, the included guns are solid enough anyway - the conscripts will just have to be happy with las-locks until they make it past their 15 hours haha
just a quick question I'm new to contrast paints but what try some I have a ACW Grey coated confederate to paint and some all blue union which contracts colours would you recommend to get the right shades of blue and grey and over which primer to get the best result. thanks
I really love what Wargames Atlantic is doing in general, releasing cheap, nice quality infantry with tons of customization options.
i agree with everything except the cheap part. they are cheaper but not cheap.
I've seen people use the old cadian arms on these bodies to great effect
Thanks great stuff! Also they're not on pre-order anymore as of yesterday they are out worldwide in all three of our warehouses now (Australia, USA, UK)
Oh sweet! The store still said pre-order when I'd looked, so that's some good news.
Hey guys, will you ever make Samurai miniatures?
@@terminator572 probably at some point but we've got a lot in the queue ahead of them!
Love the grogs, and can't wait for the ogres!
My birthday order is IN! Hopefully it's get to Canuckland in two weeks or so!
Really enjoying your channel.
Thanks to your inspiration I now have a 1500 point Bolt Action 1940 French army. Your painting tutorials are a Godsend’.
Really glad to hear it! :D

Another temptation as the kit looks brilliant for kitbashing... all those heads...

Good choice! Those SpaceNam miniatures are going to be so cool... there's going to be *so many* new Catachan armies on the table! :D

It's awesome how you can build a regular soldier or a sci-fi soldier!

Love your videos. The miniatures are very appealing. I really like the packs, very cool and different.
Good looking kits, and nicely painted!
Oh I was hoping you’d do a paint of these. Had too use your mantra it’s just paint after a slight disaster!
I think these Bulldocks would be at home in Konflikt 47’s weird war diesel punk setting. 😂👍
I prefer painting the torso & arms holding weapons separately as it makes things a lot easier.
I was looking at these last night. Plan on getting some soon!
Got a Space 1889 feel to the pith helmet figures. Not sure what figures to use for the Parhoon Martians though.
A few days ago i made something similar. I kit bashed my DKOK kill team into science fiction french grenadiers and voltigeurs
Leadbelcher was my go-to for base silver but then I found Iron Warriors and the sky's the limit with that for highlights.
Just need a few boxes of these and a few of the French then I can have the battle of space Waterloo or marsaloo if you will

A reasonable substitute for Praetorians.
Awesome video! Love that you painted two!👍🏽☢️
I really like the kit, but I noticed that one of the rifle holding hands is moulded really poorly on all sprues.
Those look awesome! WA are on a streak at the moment. Hope their ogres have SciFi options too!
Great stuff, as always.
nice review I wonder can the Le Grognards arms fit on those newer torsos ? I do like the rifles they have a little better then the Bulldogs ones

Pretty sure it's Straken Green I'd used. Loren Forest is usually the suggested highlight, but Straken Green's a little more rich.

Funny enough i'd argue these models could be used in Konflict 47. Not sure about scaling but it seems just that tiny bit more realistic
I was thinking that too. Just different enough to fit the alt-history aesthetic, while being grounded enough to seem like a logical progression from Real Life.
These would also make hood mordians.
Maybe I am a bit dull.... what please is the scale on these?
These guys are roughly 1/56, or 32mm. Designed to fit in with Warhammer and similar-sized games.

If you love Mutant Chronicles/Warzone, you MUST get a box of these Bulldogs!
FOR THE SERENITY!
@SonicSledgehammerStudio you should do a tutorial for Wargames Atlantic’s ww1 Germans.
Black Legion. How much more black could it be? None more. None more black.
