shouldn't it be more natural for the Foldables phones? like most people buy Foldables for better Multi tasking and it's Foldable form factor which isn't possible to do with a Tab.
It's worse than iOS, uncustomizable and unintuitive, and you can't even change the swipe down gesture to something useful, and it kills any app you want to work in background...
Amazing review like always. I've sideloaded GMS on my Mate Xs 2 using a method from a chinese Hacker and it took less than 10 min using only an app he made. The phone now is almost perfect for my use. I'm a Huawei fan here too! I imported the Chinese version although the global version is coming to my country in Germany but only to install GMS on HarmonyOs which is not possible on EMUI 12
Harmony OS is getting another level, hope google service allows them to use it officially soon. I love how Huawei managed to make this phone so thin. I have one question out of the topic: Is it okay to eat directly from plastic bag?
Love your dedication to your work regardless of the sometime low view response of the viewers. Keep it up ✌ Always ahead of all other youtubers out there when a new device comes to market.❤
To be honest, this is the first time i am tempted to buy a foldable phone. The design of this phone is so well planned and we all know that Huawei is the best out there in terms of design and quality of phones. Too bad this US bans are costing them too much..
yeah....and also Xiaomi and Huawei's ones are possibly the only Foldables aside from Samsung's available outside China...but the US ban just ruined all the innovation from the Smartphone industry in US. Literally all Chinese brands are now wary to enter the US market just because of this Huawei ban and are just selling their Sub-brand phones in the US in less quantity....
Great video. I bought a Mate XS 2 in Singapore and use it in Australia. GSpace is excellent for getting around the absence of Google apps - I have found every single one that I use there - I just can't use GPay.
Let's hope 5G kirin chips from Huawei will be back next year. But there's still Mate50 which is rumored to be announced in the next few months...if it does, let's hope we get to hear something new about Kirin. Huawei did patent a stacking chip design early this year or late last year, so hope that plays well. And if they have access to 5nm or 3nm chips, I'm pretty sure no brands can beat Huawei with whatever chips they got.
oh my god ben you're killing me with the food segment I went there to have chinese rice noodle and curry fish balls too 😋. missing HK like crazy, still can't come back for a visit yet but it's just a matter of time. thanks for a great review as always not a huawei supporter myself but I do like the design.
Hey Ben as always great review, wanted to ask does the Mate XS2 have desktop mode, and you can connect it to a monitor/ doc station to use it as a workstation ?
Love your real world reviews Ben and your practical, honest take on a foldable like this. Regardless of the risks of damage that come with the foldable screen. I think this is awesome! 👌 The whole interaction and usage of the phone is soo intuitive. 👍👍 Thank you for the great Content Sir✌✌
Huawei sometimes ships a new phone with good video camera, and this time again not a good video camera, so much blurry shaking when moving, maybe software will fix overtime. Not usable for me personally, maybe when reduced to 1080p then will be better.
Always been excited by foldables but usually too many compromises, this is the first one I have thought I really want that. A lot of really thoughtful design choices. I miss HK fish balls!
I wish Huawei could make a new Mate Xs 3 with Kirin 9010 chipset. I still find outward-folding foldables easier to use than inward-folding foldables, including Huawei's own Mate X2/X3/X5.
Amazing work. Thank you Ben. And I like the way you walk around the city. Maybe you can take a video of how your daily life is in HK. Or run a second channel of how you live your life there. 😹
Thanks so much for the review. I love how you review phones. I'm here in the US watching on my Mate 20x/4g. I'm totally fine with 4G. I can easily use work arounds for google apps or just use web versions. I was so excited then came the camera test. Large phone and great camera. That's what I want. Hoping the US stops messing around before my phone dies. I want another large screen Huawei phone, hopefully with an excellent camera.
Goodlock on Samsung has a module called Multistar and it has a cool thing where if you swipe in from a top corner on a full screen app it makes it go to pop up view. It's pretty nice, much better than the regular way to do it.
Awesome review, you are 1 and only one who made REAL LIFE Review! i watch many, cos want to buy this phone! Now You have +1 subscriber and i tell all my friends who like watch reviews aboute You! Thank You!
Nice review Ben,I still prefer the book style of the Foldable phone but I love to see companies like Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi bring innovation to consumers, specially make it global to slap in Samsung face to make them work harder...From all the leak of the Galaxy Fold 4,im very disappointed, that's why I got Vivo X Fold, it the best hardware of foldable phone right now and I love it, but still hope Vivo can keep up with the software
Thanks for the review Ben! And love how you integrated some local culture in it - keep them coming! I also have a question about running local banking and payment apps on this phone, u know with the security login and all that. Did u get a chance to try? Would love to hear from you.
Im currently using it. I love it, but i will eventually upgrade to Rumored Find N3. Due the google service. Not that i cant use or download google apps here , all the work around work perfectly, its just my work pace, everything has to fast, cant handle.slightly delay. But i definitely still keep this phone, its a brillliant phone but im just not going to use it for work. At least.
US lamed Huawei.....they made extremely good phones but the sanctions now almost killed everything about Huawei. We could have managed with the Qualcomm ban but Google ban is too much as Google is the medium in all of the Android apps. In a place where Google services aren't needed Huawei phones are great options and also more "bang for buck" smartphones.
Maybe you have to try Mate XS2 with Kirin SoC. Like my P50 Pro with Snapdragon, the camera result especially in low light situation look bad. Really different with Huawei's devices with Kirin like P30 Pro or P40 Pro.
I'm really thinking about getting a Hauwei phone, just as a personal protest and I want to know, which do you think are better, the P50 pro or the P40 pro?
P50 is better, looks great too and less bulky Not sure where you are, but if you country do sell it, I still suggest getting a Chinese version. You get the HOS (Harmony OS) out of the boss.
@@ginnox2049 thanks, but I decided on the P40 pro. Not only does it have a more secure face unlock as well as finger print scanner but it was about $200 cheaper than the P50🤷♂️
Hi Ben, huawei phones used to excel in low light photos. That doesn't to be the case anymore. Is that a result of other brands catching up, or Huawei unable to incorporate special photo processing units like they did with Kirin processors before?
It’s because US sanctions prevents huawei from buying newer components. So huawei can’t buy the newest sensors can’t buy the newest Qualcomm chip. It’s a game the US gov is playing.
@RJK02 Haha....you clearly said it, it is only not in the best interest. That's enough to be a national security reason for US for everything they can't compete or is losing at. But it's great to see many in US still prefers Huawei phones. And with the sanction, it's just slowing down US even more in the 5G field and industry, there's no way they can catch back up if they choose to play a close up or little gossip groups with few other nations they preferred to work with.
Re: Fold 3, Samsung Good Lock allows you to fix/customize all of the multitasking issues you flagged. That said, Samsung should just integrate those options into the stock OneUI interface rather than requiring you to install Good Lock.
This phone looks like the foldable version of Mi Mix Alpha. Really good looking design.
Harmony OS is really user friendly, like the entire OS was designed to handle multi tasking
shouldn't it be more natural for the Foldables phones? like most people buy Foldables for better Multi tasking and it's Foldable form factor which isn't possible to do with a Tab.
It's worse than iOS, uncustomizable and unintuitive, and you can't even change the swipe down gesture to something useful, and it kills any app you want to work in background...
Awesome review Ben, I’m not a fan of this type of foldable but do appreciate your insights - Looking forward to the next tech review
yeah...this type of design is inconvenient for the Foldable phones. It's more like a Mi mix Alpha phone which had 360° wrap display
Amazing review like always. I've sideloaded GMS on my Mate Xs 2 using a method from a chinese Hacker and it took less than 10 min using only an app he made. Huawei always had good innovation 🙂
The phone is pretty good for a foldable. Thank you for the tip on purchase as well.
I always love your review... Thumbs up always...I really wanna see HUAWEI come out strong from all the sanctions... I'm a fan and I use mate40 pro.

I love huawei A company that has made all competitors develop in the world of technology
if Huawei integrated a stylus in the free space on the right side this would be a genius invention
the form factor and design is actually good but so fragile at the same time.
Great video. I bought a Mate XS 2 in Singapore and use it in Australia. GSpace is excellent for getting around the absence of Google apps - I have found every single one that I use there - I just can't use GPay.
The only problem I have is that it isn't Kirin 5G.
Yeah kirin's image processing is better

I had the 1st XS, still the most beautiful fold
Especially how it slims out toward one end. They took out that design this time. Bummer
would you replace it with Xs 2?

It's true that Samsung should try to copy Oppo and Huawei's multitasking gestures a bit.
I wish Huawei could make a new Mate Xs 3 with Kirin 9010 chipset. I still find outward-folding foldables easier to use than inward-folding foldables, including Huawei's own Mate X2/X3/X5.

Love it. Huawei always make the good phones
what's up with the focus at 6:42? It looks real bad cause it misses to focus your face completely
Yeah the camera messed up focus there

Huawei did a mistake by keeping the prices so high! With better pricing I think they could have keep many users even without google!
Can i ask you the guide you followed to install Native GMS on it ???? And it will survive if you OTA update SW device ?
Honestly Ben, ur review has always been great 👍

Thanks ben for your reviews! Very helpful and informative 🙏🏻😁✨
Very nice phone. Btw you just made me feel hungry watching you eating 😋.
Hi, I want to ask if your Huawei Mate Xs 2 phone uses Google, how to use the Huawei Mate Xs 2 with Google
I want one so bad it's so beautiful just so EXPENSIVE
Ben, enjoying the channel for some time. Also a fan of Huawei hardware. Gspace now tipped me over the edge to buy this. Worth a short update ?

If Samsung made their flagship phones with this form factor, I'd buy it day 1.
Make THIS the Note series.
nice review, Ben.
Great review! A lot of good info.
I just love this phone no matter what U.S and other guys says

Thanks mate. Great video! I love the hardware and idea behind, but Google Services is a deal breaker. :(
Excellent efforts thank you my favorite reviewer.
You can change the one UI app switcher to focus on the current app by default instead (via good lock)
Your always good ben always support you
Ppl should hv more faith in foldable phones now with Mrkeybrd's ongoing folding test
Maybe you have to try Mate XS2 with Kirin SoC. Like my P50 Pro with Snapdragon, the camera result especially in low light situation look bad. Really different with Huawei's devices with Kirin like P30 Pro or P40 Pro.
For my Z fold 3 I set up so when I swipe the bottom right handle with one hand gestures with goodlock it multitasks with one swipe.
Yeah but it still requires good locks which needs installing. Samsung should build something faster natively
@@bensgadgetreviews I agree it's not like we're on the 3rd going on 4th generation already.... oh wait 😂

@@joshuabergeman354 still a good choice, it's Huawei...haha
The camera quality is at the fold 3 level. That's too bad, because it means I'll go for a fold 4 this year even though I like the mate's design more.
I really like your reviews Ben and Huawei mate xs 2 is the sexiest phone ever exist in my opinion.
and also the most inconvenient foldable phone. It's more like a concept device than an actual Consumer ready phone like Mi mix Alpha was
