What are heavy steel dimensions? I am writing from Türkiye, there was a big earthquake in my country. We are on the fault line and people do not want to build concrete structures anymore. people want to erect structures on heavy steel because it is durable and reliable. The regions damaged by the earthquake will be restructured in our country. My request from you is to say that you can build heavy steel houses for our country. Believe me, there will be a lot of requests.
Not only are you building a home in CR but your building it out of Iron. I’m an Ironworker working on moving to CR, this is awesome! A couple questions and suggestions. Why are you welding the beams to column instead of a bolted connection? Also, it looks like you had the base plates of the columns already in place sitting right on the concrete and you made the column level with your fit…. Why was it done that way? I would suggest fitting the base plate square to the column before installation then using metal shims or Jack nuts (nuts on the anchor bolts below the base plate) to set elevation and make it easier to level out. Then fill in the gap with grout after. It’s much easier. Either way, AWESOME!!!
I agree with you Tim.... The reason we did it this way was couple of reason. #1 the contractor didn't have that much experience, but is very good. We put the column plates in the cement column support area...leveled them perfectly and then poured cement. You have have to be very precise in this...but the same the other way as well. Welding everything together instead of bolted connection for the same reason as above. I don't know that they have a manufacture here that could have made that connection for us. It was extremely difficult and very expensive to actually get this steel here in Costa Rica. Thanks for your input and questions.
@@OffTheGridHomesteadCostaRica makes more sense now that I know you put the plates in before pouring. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. Keep up the great work! Pura Vida!
I agree....while they have them here in Costa Rica...mostly only in San Jose. So, if you have the money to buy a crane and transport it...I'm sure you could keep it busy.
I like the metal structure !! So when cranw was lifting the metal polls and fitting them inside concrete pillers so does it has holes for metal beam or how they are fixed ?? In the ground
@@OffTheGridHomesteadCostaRica Will the owner continue the project in the future or will he be selling it partially done? Do you know the cost that it took to get as far the owner did in the project?
The last time I checked...it wasn't done. The owner is a crook and extremely dishonest...so I am sure that has a LOT to do with it NOT being done. I left because he decided NOT to pay me after I did a lot of work. Owes me over $5k
Most people don't know the difference of an I beam and H beam...but in CR, most CR call it an 'H" beam...while we call it an "I" beam... But if you want the details...or the difference here it is: No, I-beams and H-beams are not the same. They are both types of structural steel beams, but they have different cross-sectional shapes.I-beams, also known as universal beams or W-beams, have a horizontal top and bottom flange with a vertical web in between. This shape provides high strength in a structurally efficient design, making them commonly used in construction and structural applications, such as building frames and bridges.H-beams, on the other hand, have flanges (top and bottom) that are wider than the web. This creates an "H" shape when viewed from the end. H-beams are often used in construction for columns and beams of industrial buildings. While both I-beams and H-beams serve similar purposes in construction, their different cross-sectional shapes make them suited for different structural applications.
I could fabricate and erect that house in a week . I get so annoyed at theese videos of people doing a job they don't know what they are doing .trying to make out it's so difficult
That is awesome you can do that Alan. I suggest you go to Costa Rica, create a UA-cam Channel and put your words to ACTION. We ALL want to see you fabricate and erect that house in a week. But since you don't live in Costa Rica....we all KNOW you don't know what YOU are talking about...🤣

How did you ensure those pedastals are in the correct position
@@kingsman3087 Simple...just follow the blueprints. Everything is on the blueprints.

at last i have found a video that think proprly to build a home with strong structure. good job
Glad I could help!
Very knowledgeable, good project
Thanks a lot. Glad you liked it.
Sounds like a crane business would be a great idea. I'm in Bali and rarely ever see cranes. They must be needed all over the place.

Awesome 👍😎.
Thanks for the visit

These were all welded together. No bolt on and no holes.
Thats Empire State bases at Costa Rica jungle ... WOW!!
Yes....I think you are right....It's huge..
Very strong structure
Yes...maybe even a bit over-kill, but I'd rather have it too strong than not strong enough.
What size of your columns and beams?
They were big...I don't know the exact size. I worked that project a long time ago. It was a fun project.
With work and dedication I am sure that this work will be finished in 90 days.
Thanks for your support! Enjoy
What was the told cost in completing this project?
Unfortunately...we'll never know. The owner ran into financial problems and has never finished this house. Not uncommon in Costa Rica...

Want to do the same in Hawaii

I thought I beam is for horizontal, and H beam is meant for Vertical. There's a logic why it's 'I' shape, not just random.

There is no way he is going to make 90 gays. Our house has been closed in for 3 months has 8 guys working, and we’re 15 days away still.
