Folks like to say 'juno sucks'. But when the monsters came she stepped up. It was written for you not to like her, but she was the toughest person really. That's why I liked the original ending, none of these ladies were perfect. Sarah took out Juno, so I liked the fact she suffered for it in still being in the caves, they both could have made it out.
Juno literally got all her friends killed by taking them without their consent to an uncharted cave with no rescue arrangements in place, slept with her friends husband and walked away from Beth and left her to die alone. I think being left as bait was a fair ending for her. 😉 Just my take on her, nah you're right though she doesn't objectively suck anymore than Sarah. But subjectively, I cheered when Sarah put that thing through her leg lol
I didnt agree with Juno sleeping with her friends husband but I liked her the most and Sarah the least. Also they use to go cave exploring. So I dont blame Juno for anyone dying because she couldnt have known of the creatures. And I dont blame her for beth. In my opinion beth was kinda stupid....she walked up on her not saying anything after juno was attacked by the creatures.
Many people hate on juno when really I actually wanted her to live, ik she brought them to a different cave without them knowing, but i thought her motive was kinda nice, though she should’ve taken full responsibility, and beths death was nobodys fault but beths, and out of them all juno seemed to care for all of them the most, she chased after holly when she thought she saw daylight and tried warning her, she wanted to name the cave after sarah, she fought the crawlers for holly’s dead body, she saved rebecca and sam and refused to leave until they found sarah, though i hate what she did with sarahs husband, she didnt deserve the fate that she got in my opinion, though ig sarah didnt know it was an accident that juno hurt beth.
I lost count of movies I've seen for couple of decades (especially the horror ones) and this is by far one of the best horrors I have ever watched. The bond and interaction between characters feels natural and believable. You do actually believe what you're watching.
Sucks that you didn't get the halllucination ending. That moment where I realized Sarah was actually still alone, way deep down in the cave far away from the exit with the creatures surrounding her really gave a feeling of hopelessness.
The atmosphere of this movie is incredible, you're already shitting your pants before you get any notion that those creatures are in it. And the cinematography is fantastic as well, that whole scene where Sarah is in that room with the blood pool and the only light source in the room is her torch is brilliant
I'm so glad you've seen this movie! It was a HUGE revelation for me, at a time I thought there wouldn't be great monster movies anymore! I think all the adventure movies I'd loved as a kid could have been horror movies all along if any character made a bad decision like going to an unexplored cave, dropping a map, or not being honest with friends about everything. The script is strong, the PTSD and Trauma Reactions are excellent, the practical effects and just a ridiculously great team of actors make it BRILLIANT. It took me two or three watches to feel bad for Juno, but I really do by now. Not because of the loss of her lover, but because she messed up, then she couldn't show her grief, then wrecked her friends with her big reunion gesture... It's a tragedy for all the girls, all around.
As mentioned, you guys unfortunately watched the altered/edited version. The original ending is WAY more powerful and continues for a couple more minutes. For some dumb reason the studio decided to edit it out and end on the jump scare for the US release. I highly recommend seeing it as intended. Has a much better impact/meaning.
Whenever I watch monster movies, I always root for the monsters. The monsters are usually some ancient creature in there own habitat, in the middle of nowhere, minding there own business not bothering anyone, until some dumb humans go messing with them. 🙂
The Uncut version of The Descent, which doesn't go for a happy ending, is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. Loved every minute of this reaction video.
in the original ending when she escapes in the car a creature shows up nest to her instead of Juno's ghost, but that was only a dream and then she wakes up still in the cave, hallucinating about her daughter. This gives way to a very fun fan theory, saying that there were never any monsters, only Sarah going mad and killing her friends and we see the movie from her perspective, hallucinating the creatures.
A few years ago I convinced a bunch of friends to watch this movie the night before we were going exploring some caves with another group. they would never admit it but they were nervous as hell the next morning 😂
guys this is NOT THE ORIGINAL ENDING LISTEN THE ENDING KEEPS GOING SO WHEN SARA LEAVES THE OTHER GIRL DIE AT THE END AND SHE CLIMPED SHE FELL DOWN AND ALL CAR ESCAPE WAS IN HER HEAD
This is my favorite horror movie of all time. I watch it every Halloween night. Have it on the bluray the has both versions (and I never watch the version with the American ending - The original ending is so much better & so perfect).
Fun Fact: There are endangered giant cave butterflies that defend themselves. By cocooning a flight form around any loud unusual sound in their caves. Their wings cut as many small paper cuts on one's person. Plus relatives to fireflies, the butterfly that looks like a deadleaf, swallow tailed butterflies, and Luna moths. There was a Emperor at loved these Cave Butterflies whole hardy that he named Chokeshi them ( they are the same colors of cave that glimmer white to look bigger) to which stories of these beauties are misunderstood with fear, and also his love for Coqui frogs that can sing two or three miles away that can break thin glass by voice alone. Both of these animals live in Puerto Rico but now in Japan as well for the Emperor was a collector for weird to exotic endangered species.
There's two different endings. One where she gets out and the other her getting out was a dream and she wakes up in the cave still. Personally I like the version where she gets out because she had been through so much lmao. She deserved to live at that point. Losing her family, losing her friends, Juno murking the one friend she seemed closest to 😂 Juno ruined that woman's entire life.
Been caving like this and it was so scary, and we didn't know what we were in for. A bunch of novices with 2 guides in Waipu New Zealand. We had to crawl like worms on our stomachs at times in cramped long stretches, we could hardly lift our heads as the helmet light would hit the top...also we had to absail twice down waterfalls underground and finally had to swim out under water due to flooding...horrified. It was the best feeling ever coming up out of the ground in a field. So thankful and happy to be out. Never knew I had claustrophobia until that day...4 hours underground felt like eternity. Lol
This is definitely one of my favorite horror movies. Especially with the Unrated ending (regular ending internationally). I'd never go spelunking ever...the first half of the movie before the monsters was possibly even more terrifying for me. I'm definitely claustrophobic. Wandering around in the dark with no map even without creepy monsters...as Nikki would say "fuck that".
Omg so sad yous didn't catch the original ending where Sarah's escape is a hallucination... But love this reaction so much! Brightened up my very sad night. 💖💖
Hahahah the "bonk" sound effect at 28:26 got me better than any of the jumpscares 😂 in the way that I laughed so hard, it almost made me projectile-spout my drink all over the monitor.
I found out in caves it can be the opposite. Sound may not travel as far as you think with the turns and depths of the turns ect. You could easily get lost in the pitch black ness and if you get lost from a group even though your close by if your in far enough and there's some turns you voice won't be heard. I was listening to cave explores ect xD even if your yelling. The sound may not travel far enough. O.o I could 100% be remembering what I was watching wrongly but I'm pretty sure that is along the lines of it xD great movie btw! One of my faves!
Steven & Nikki, in the original ending, Sarah doesn't make it out alive. The part about her crawling out is actually just a dream. But they changed it so they could make a bad sequel. Sarah takes the athorities and a group of people to show them what happened to her group.
Great choice of film, wonderful reaction! My take on the movie is that Sarah killed them all and hallucinated everything - that was how she saw it in her delusional state. They foreshadow it a few times in the film: when she leaves her medication behind at the cabin; when her friend is describing the symptoms of going crazy in the caves (delusions, paranoid schizophrenia, psychosis) which gradually occurs with her with sounds and shadows only she sees or hears. Sarah goes crazy and has her revenge deep in the mountains, a symbolic womb which spawns the horrors and features a pool of body parts and blood. She kills everyone in her gory vengeance: Juno, for cheating with her husband and indirectly causing the accident, destroying her marriage and child; and the rest of her friends for keeping silent and choosing Juno over her.
OMG can't believe you finally reacted to one of my favorite horror movies of all time 😆 So underrated! I watched it when it came out and then had nightmares for like two months 😅😩
I love cave tours and I’ve been spelunking once. It was guided but through parts of the cave that were not lit and no artificial walkways had been put in. We were crawling through passages on our bellies, tip toeing along tiny ledges over deep chasms. The most frightening and exhilarating thing I’ve ever done. And once was enough.
Yea this is the us ending version I believe , in the eu one after she see her ghost in the car, you can see sarah wakes back up where she fell in these bones just before she dreamt of the escape car scene, in reality she never left the cave...
Love this movie especially since it takes place in NC where I'm from lol. You guys should watch the sequel, The Descent: Part 2. It basically picks up right where this one leaves off.
I’m recommending The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I believe it’s only two seasons because of a writers strike almost 20 years ago. Stars Cersi from GOT. It’s legitimately better than any of the movies combined except the first one in my opinion.
Nothing like a classic Creature Feature. Love a good Monster movie. And yes the Cave you see them in is a giant set. They even reused pieces to make it look like they were in different parts of the cave the deeper they go. Great reaction.✌

There is alternate ending where Sarah escaping ends up being a hallucination and she comes to stranded alone in the cave with several of the creatures making their way to her. However, if you haven’t already, you guys should consider watching the sequel. It picks up almost immediately after the events of the first film, with Sarah as the soul survivor. Authorities seeking answers about the events that transpired during the first film, more or less force her to take them to the caves. It wasn’t as good as the original BUT it made some really interesting choices to continue the story.
Yes some things dont look the best like the batscene, however it is a 2005 movie and pretty low-budget and unknown actors, they made one hell of a movie. There is another ending with an extra scene after Sarah see Juno in the car she wakes up in the cave realising the exit was a dream and there is no exit and the monsters are crawling against her and she sees her daughter in her fantasy, suggesting there is no survivors the movie ends, but it was considered to dark for the American market.

@@caseyh8386 She can do the splits standing though /s
I thought Juno was the hottest babe out of all six of them!
I lost count of movies I've seen for couple of decades (especially the horror ones) and this is by far one of the best horrors I have ever watched. The bond and interaction between characters feels natural and believable. You do actually believe what you're watching.
20:50 the lowkey sass in steven's tone of voice here was so funny LOL
The way he said "makes sense", LOL
My precious
Lol I replayed it probably 6 or 7 times
Sucks that you didn't get the halllucination ending. That moment where I realized Sarah was actually still alone, way deep down in the cave far away from the exit with the creatures surrounding her really gave a feeling of hopelessness.
Just had to do the jumpscare ending, lol. Lazy US version...
The atmosphere of this movie is incredible, you're already shitting your pants before you get any notion that those creatures are in it. And the cinematography is fantastic as well, that whole scene where Sarah is in that room with the blood pool and the only light source in the room is her torch is brilliant
This film was directed by Neil Marshall, who directed two great episode nines of Game of Thrones - Blackwater and The Watchers On The Wall.
and several Black Sails episodes
@@adiwild oh yeah that's right. Forgot he did the pilot episode. Not sure what others he did.
curious: how many theaters has nikki gotten you thrown out of?
another one similar to this worth seeing is "The Ruins", a 2008 horror film
Nah. I luv watching OVER-re-ACTORS !
@@ennesshay5040 These OVER-Reactors are annoying as hell.
lol 😆
Don't knock caving until you've tried it. You'd be amazed how beautiful and alien the underground world looks.
My experience with spelunking is fairly limited, but it is pretty awesome.
The Uncut version of The Descent, which doesn't go for a happy ending, is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. Loved every minute of this reaction video.
This was a happy ending? Lol, jumpscare fake ghost...
in the original ending when she escapes in the car a creature shows up nest to her instead of Juno's ghost, but that was only a dream and then she wakes up still in the cave, hallucinating about her daughter.
I love Niki's reactions, she's so animated and is so quoteable.
"Biiitch"
OMG Nikki, the "home invasion" point of view that you had made me chuckle for ten minutes straight. Great reaction guys!
28:27 That caught me off guard. lmao
Me and husband watched this when it hit the theater. I remember we were SO freaked out afterwards..lol
No one is prepared for how brutal this movie can be
I was.....
Lol, no, fucking with you. I was not.
"It's Gollum! He's got the ring!" 😂😂😂
The way Nikki always beats him up and then grabs his arm for dear life is everything!
For all the caves scenes they only made one set in a studio but they just rearranged all the caves and rubble for the different locations.
guys this is NOT THE ORIGINAL ENDING LISTEN THE ENDING KEEPS GOING SO WHEN SARA LEAVES THE OTHER GIRL DIE AT THE END AND SHE CLIMPED SHE FELL DOWN AND ALL CAR ESCAPE WAS IN HER HEAD
Oh man did y'all watch the one with the American ending? In the original ending she is still in the cave after we think she's gotten out safe
Yeah I hate the American ending.
“She deserved to live at that point.”
“Deserved” has got nothing to do with it. 😉
Niki: “Because Juno is in denial. Hey, no ‘cause she’s in da cave.”
Enter comedy drums.
Hiiiyoooo!! 😂
Nikki with the nonstop comedy strikes again.
She got me with that one XD
She got me with that 🤣🤣
Omg so sad yous didn't catch the original ending where Sarah's escape is a hallucination... But love this reaction so much! Brightened up my very sad night. 💖💖
Hahahah the "bonk" sound effect at 28:26 got me better than any of the jumpscares 😂 in the way that I laughed so hard, it almost made me projectile-spout my drink all over the monitor.
Nikki “give her the people’s elbow!” 😆😆😆😆
I choked on my water 😂
Jesus I love most of the shows you watch and now this movie? Amazing.
Nikki ranting about the group coming and inserting themselves into the creatures habitat is just AMAZING 🤣🤣🤣
I'm with Nikki on this, you could not pay me enough to go down into a cave like that!
28:28 Premium sound effect, excellent timing, you have my thumbs up lmao
That had me crying 😂😂
I remember seeing this a long time ago. I really enjoyed it. I need to watch it again!
There is two.
It was a fake set, and the same set used over and over again... just reassembled for each different chamber in the cave. Thanks for the reaction vid!
Wow the version I saw she was only hallucinating she got away and was really still in the cave
Yeah this is the American ending because they wanted a jump scare. I hate it.
@@d3l3tes00n American test audiences didn't like the original ending, so they changed it to a less bleak one. And yeah, I hate it too.
@@ikilledsifodyas I'm a big supporter of depressing endings.
@@d3l3tes00n Oh, same here (with S7ven being an obvious example).
I like this interpretation. Sadly Descend 2 undoes everything that is awesome about the first movie.
Love that yall had no idea what yall were watching. That made it so much better! Now yall gotta watch part 2!
There is not many movies that have scared me but Descent 1 and 2 were two that have.
Yea this is the us ending version I believe , in the eu one after she see her ghost in the car, you can see sarah wakes back up where she fell in these bones just before she dreamt of the escape car scene, in reality she never left the cave...
one of my top 5 fave horror movies. love it.
edit- aw man you guys got the lackluster ending unfortunately.
Just watched this movie last night and the ending scare gave me 55 heart attacks, 2 seizures and 75 panic attacks😂😂
The rollercoaster of emotions! Nikki made my entire week!! Even Steven seeming to be reacting to Nikki's reactions more than the movie. This was EVERYTHING! I love you guys - thank you so much for posting this!!!
I like the original ending, where Sarah wakes up and she's still in the caves, hallucinating
The original ending makes so much more sense (given that they're literally descending the whole movie).
Wait, is that not how this ends? I thought they just cut it from the reaction lmao.
What's the ending of this version? Sarah in the bronco?
Yeah the other ending is 100% better
The UK ending was definitely better. So stupid they changed it for the US release.
Oh no, they cut the "true ending "? That sucks
Holly is the only rookie. She runs ahead because she panics & goes into flight mode, once she realizes what Juno has gotten them into & that she can't be trusted. Like what if you found out mid flight your instructor didn't actually know what they were doing? So you can't actually trust their instruction, &:now your in a life or death situation with no one competent to help you through it. It's like that you know...
Y'all are funny. Loved your reaction to this movie. Put rubbing alcohol on your arm. It helps with bruising. 👍😁
Steve: "must be the spiderman edition
Nikki: "word"
Me: "whaaaat"😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun Fact: They copied some scenes from this movie in the Tomb Raider games reboot. Whole new feel of the game was taken from this picture.
I remember watching this movie in the theater. Didn't know what I was getting myself into at that time. On my top 10 list of best horror movies. Great reaction guys:))
Nikki's rant was everything to this reaction lol. I love this movie. Scary and well made.
I remember seeing this in the theater. It was crazy af. Now that I’m sitting here watching this w you guys I was thinking about the name . The Descent into the cave but also The Descent into madness as well? I’d highly recommend High Tension but stay away from The Descent 2. It is... mediocre at best.
30:06 Nikki is losing it, and I'm here for it. Even Steven looks shook. ;-)
