What he says at 1:35 is the reason why I am doing everything I can to finish writing a script I am currently working on that, although fits into today's typical presentation in films in some aspects, shows something just a little different (if we're talking just African-American roles). Now of course this is not my primary goal as an artist with all things I do, but it will definitely be fully present in terms of what I'd like to convey through my work.

Aww...thank you very much!! I actually did finish the script. I am currently seeking a producer for the film. It's going to be a challenging process, but in the end it'll all be worth it. And it's definitely one of many other film ideas I plan to move forward with. Denzel is truly an inspiration to me....I don't expect to have the resume that he has, especially because his first film was done when he was 22 (The Wilma Rudolph Story - which is how he met his wife Pauletta, by the way). I just turned 41 this year....so a bit of a later start for me. But it's all good. Thank you for the good energy!!

What a gift this Man is to humanity. He is humble yet steadfast in his convictions. He is not easily baited, using his intellect and reasoning to leave his interviewer and audience pondering self examination. This Man has been my favorite human being for years. Dignified yet so approachable, l love how he carries himself with such grace and dignity. A gift from God this man is, a true treasure.

Me. Washington mentioned Hattie McDaniel in this clip as someone who paved the way for black actors. I wonder how he feels about the "cancelling" of Gone With the Wind, basically erasing her role as Mammy, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, becoming the first African American to win an Oscar.

I know some people have problems with certain things that Washington has said on this matter, but he does seem sincere in wanting to do what he can for the next generation of storytellers. I prefer this and think it's much more effective than the wishy-washy Hollywood Liberal 'I take responsibility' thing.
He's a great actor, and seems like a very grounded, principled man.

I mean is our society so racist. That we will never stop talking negatively or demeaning certain people by color? And not by their cultural differences? Sighhhh
