  • Make sure to unplug the dryer before servicing!
    Samsung Dryers are notorious for failing to start due to the idler pulley blowing up and, many times, taking the belt with it. How can you take apart a Samsung Dryer to get it up and running again? Follow along so you'll learn to fix a Samsung Dryer that won't start. This fix may also solve an issue if your Samsung Dryer won't heat. Interestingly enough, the Samsung dryer pulley and the Samsung heating element are linked.
    Additionally, this video works for LG and Kenmore Elite dryers that look similar to this one... I had to work on a few after this video and realized taking them apart is done literally the same. exact. way. Although MAKE SURE you do a proper part-lookup to verify that you have the right components for them (but again, the installations are pretty much the same).

    This was a life saver. I had a technician come in to do services on the dryer that came with my house. The drum was rotating but would stall under a load of laundry. Had him come back only to brag about how he's been doing this for 30+ years and that he did it right. Decided to audit his work and it turns out the belt wasn't reinstalled properly onto the motor. Got my dryer to work properly again. Always trust your guts folks!
    Goes without saying, but GREAT video. Thank you!

    man, this looks so easy after getting used to watch this video. I hired a repair man to see what's going on with my dryer to see why its cutting off in few seconds and doesn't stay on and he kept guessing and never test voltages on Fues and motor and I had to ended up doing it myself. I am not hiring anyone else ever I'll do it myself. thanks for that video, man.

    You just saved me from having to buy a new dryer! Couldn't find a repair shop that would look at my Samsung and Samsung itself just wanted to sell me a new dryer. With your instructions, I was able to take the dryer apart to find that a sock had been put down inside past the lint filter and had been sucked into and was wedged in the fan. Removed sock = working dryer. Thank you!!!!

    I'm really thankful for this. This helped so much with the disassembly. Found the problem, too!!! The plastic tensioner pulley had worn through and was causing intermittent squeaking. The pulley itself was difficult to spin by hand, so I suspect that the bearings are bad. Bought the entire kit to replace things. Might as well, given that she's all opened up. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this video I watched it daily for two weeks in prep to fix my daughter's dryer. You are an excellent teacher, you encouraged me I could do this. I successfully removed hood, and door but what a surprise when I removed the bulkhead. I found a single sock and a pair of underwear caught up in the fan motor! I cant fathom how they could end up there. Removed the stray items and since the belt seemed to be in perfect condition, we fired it up and it is working like new. Just had to share the experience but most of all thank you for being such a great instructor and sharing your knowledge with people like me.

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  3 роки тому

      Oh my! I can't say that I've ever seen those items in there, but it does happen. There's your dryer vent screen in the front of the dryer as soon as you open the door. Its possible the filter wasn't in, and it sucked those items in there during the tumble of the dryer.

    Great, helpful, video. Matched our dryer perfectly. It’s super handy to know what is expected taking it apart. The job went very fast with some vacuuming dust time added in. Thanks! Unless you have a video with the same or very similar model, these are a real PITA to get open... But a video tends to make understanding it really, really easy for the most part. So if you have to do it 3 or 4 times, you can basically do it blindfolded.

    • @henryxavj
      @henryxavj 3 роки тому +1

      Btw, I found it easier to access the belt tension arm from the back end (once you manage to get behind the dryer). Just remove the vent access... The tensioner arm has a small hole that aligns with a hole on the fixed part so that you can insert a piece of clip wire to hold the tensioner pulled all the way. Then it is easy to set the belt... trying to do it from the front was a bit of a pain for my short arms with little leverage.

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  3 роки тому +1

      @@henryxavj the thing is, some models do have vent access and some don't... I wanted to include that snippet w/ this video but alas, when I went to try it, there wasn't any room. Some have just the 3" vent hole, and others have an oblong section, and this certainly didn't. So I didn't mention it lest I get yelled at by 'Tubers that didn't have the ability to get there and get mad because "You made me rip off the vent now I can't get it on again!" ha ha

  • @Mootwitch
    @Mootwitch 3 роки тому

    Thank you for the video the repair went great! I do have a few questions, I continue to hear a rattle like it did before the idler pulley broke and I also smell burning. I know there was a lot of black looking stuff all over the motor and around it (assuming from the old pulley busting and breaking). Is there something else that could be going on? Is the smell just from what was left behind? Will the rattling stop? I replaced the belt, idler pulley and spring.
