Samsung Dryer Belt Replacement - Fix a Samsung Dryer That Won't Start / Samsung Dryer Won't Spin

- Make sure to unplug the dryer before servicing!
Samsung Dryers are notorious for failing to start due to the idler pulley blowing up and, many times, taking the belt with it. How can you take apart a Samsung Dryer to get it up and running again? Follow along so you'll learn to fix a Samsung Dryer that won't start. This fix may also solve an issue if your Samsung Dryer won't heat. Interestingly enough, the Samsung dryer pulley and the Samsung heating element are linked.
Additionally, this video works for LG and Kenmore Elite dryers that look similar to this one... I had to work on a few after this video and realized taking them apart is done literally the same. exact. way. Although MAKE SURE you do a proper part-lookup to verify that you have the right components for them (but again, the installations are pretty much the same).

I’m pretty sure this is the best DIY video I’ve ever watched on UA-cam in any segment. The speed of the video is perfect, the detail and angles of the video couldn’t be better. Thank you very much!
Wow, thank you! I try really hard to get good angles of all these repairs. Its NOT EASY because taking something apart w/o obstructing the camera is a really difficult process many times, but comments like yours make it worth it!
Dude I totally agree, it is the best. I dreaded what it was going to say had to be done to replace the belt. Then this guy comes on and makes it look so frickin easy. Dudes a great teacher. Thank you for the video!!! You rock, so I give your video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✌️
What’s the belt model number
I agree with the above! This is HANDS DOWN the best instructional video I’ve seen in YEARS! DEFINITELY going to search for videos from @bensappliancesandjunk in the future! Keep doing what you’re doing! 👍👍👍
@@turnflip817 6602-001655. I took a screenshot in the portion of the video where I saw it. HUGE help when scouring google to get the correct part number.
No idea why they do induced draft for these! My blower wheel was so clogged with lint it was vibrating due to being off balance. This video showed just how simple getting to that part is, thank you so much!
You 100% saved me about $700-$800 dollars. Excellent, step-by-step video. Thank you!!
This was a life saver. I had a technician come in to do services on the dryer that came with my house. The drum was rotating but would stall under a load of laundry. Had him come back only to brag about how he's been doing this for 30+ years and that he did it right. Decided to audit his work and it turns out the belt wasn't reinstalled properly onto the motor. Got my dryer to work properly again. Always trust your guts folks!
Goes without saying, but GREAT video. Thank you!
man, this looks so easy after getting used to watch this video. I hired a repair man to see what's going on with my dryer to see why its cutting off in few seconds and doesn't stay on and he kept guessing and never test voltages on Fues and motor and I had to ended up doing it myself. I am not hiring anyone else ever I'll do it myself. thanks for that video, man.
This is a wonderful video, step by step. When putting the new belt on, I found that pulling back the tensioner and looping the belt on the motor was much easier. Thank you for your video.
this video was so much better than the last video I watched on samsung dryer repair when my heating element went out. If I would have watched this video back then I would not have worried about this belt replacement. Thanks for walking through it. Great job.
Thank you so much for this video. Not only did it include the content we needed to diagnose and fix our dryer, it’s presented really clearly. One of the best DIY videos I have ever seen.
Couldn’t have fixed my machine without you). Thank you!!!
You just saved me from having to buy a new dryer! Couldn't find a repair shop that would look at my Samsung and Samsung itself just wanted to sell me a new dryer. With your instructions, I was able to take the dryer apart to find that a sock had been put down inside past the lint filter and had been sucked into and was wedged in the fan. Removed sock = working dryer. Thank you!!!!
Thanks so much for your clear instructions that I used to get to the blower ...stuck sock removed and we are back in business!!
I’ve had to do this repair 3 times. Each time I watch a video. This was the best visit I’ve seen. It saved me at least 30 minutes.
Thank you so so so much. We don’t have the money to hire anyone, but couldn’t find any videos that helped us with our specific dryer we have. This one still wasn’t our exact dryer, but it was the one and only video that helped us and now our dryer works. YAYYYYY!!! 🙏🏼
I can't thank you enough, your video help me dx, take apart, replace with new belt and pulley, then put it back together again.
I'm really thankful for this. This helped so much with the disassembly. Found the problem, too!!! The plastic tensioner pulley had worn through and was causing intermittent squeaking. The pulley itself was difficult to spin by hand, so I suspect that the bearings are bad. Bought the entire kit to replace things. Might as well, given that she's all opened up. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video I watched it daily for two weeks in prep to fix my daughter's dryer. You are an excellent teacher, you encouraged me I could do this. I successfully removed hood, and door but what a surprise when I removed the bulkhead. I found a single sock and a pair of underwear caught up in the fan motor! I cant fathom how they could end up there. Removed the stray items and since the belt seemed to be in perfect condition, we fired it up and it is working like new. Just had to share the experience but most of all thank you for being such a great instructor and sharing your knowledge with people like me.
Oh my! I can't say that I've ever seen those items in there, but it does happen. There's your dryer vent screen in the front of the dryer as soon as you open the door. Its possible the filter wasn't in, and it sucked those items in there during the tumble of the dryer.
Excellent video! Samsung was trying to charge me $281 just to come out to the house. I followed this video and replaced my belt for $21. Thanks
Hey thanks!!! I was able to fix my dyer using your video. I just needed to clean out the front fan at the bottom and clear it of debris that got in there. I was able to get to it easily with your video! Thank you!!!!
Great, helpful, video. Matched our dryer perfectly. It’s super handy to know what is expected taking it apart. The job went very fast with some vacuuming dust time added in. It turned out we had a pair of underwear jammed in the fan. In hindsight the wife said she inadvertently ran it for 20 seconds without the lint filter.
Thanks very much for the video!!!
Very well done. So many youtube videos show the 7th time they have completed things and how easy it is. You displayed a few different ways to do things and some problems that we will likely run into and how to overcome them. Thanks!!
You just saved us a ton of money. We didn't have this exact problem, but your video on how to take everything apart allowed us to do that and figure it out for ourselves.
Ours was screeching LOUD. We greased the rollers and the tension pulley screw was loose. Tightened that. Don't know what was making the screech. All I know is that it's gone. Thank you sir.
probably the loose pulley, I think mine was loose but by the time I actually got around to taking it apart, the plastic wheel was damaged as though it was loose and not sitting right, it was screeching so loud
Yeah man! Thanks much. It’d have taken me a while to figure out how to disassemble the thing without a walk through. My problem is the heating element 😅
Thank you. Straight to the point, great camera angles tobsee exactly what needs to be done. Overall top notch video.
Thanks for not making this a 20 minute video!
I try to make these videos only long enough to narrate and show off whatever part needs swapped out. Thanks!
My Samsung dryer made loud noises. Came to you tube and found this video on how to disassemble. My belt tensioner wheel ate the bearing. With this video it help me out get this changed in 30 min. Thank you…
Thank you very much for posting this video. You saved me 900$ for a new dryer in this horrible economy!! THANK YOU
Aww I'm glad it helped!
You are amazing! I seriously sat down with your video, followed it step by step (thank you for counting out loud how many screws there were and saying things like "remember to latch this and that"). With your help, I realized it was indeed the pulley, ordered the one you suggested, and all in, it took me 40 minutes and $18.95. YOU"RE A ROCKSTAR!!!
So easy to follow! Thank you so much. I’m a 100% newbie to fixing anything and this was a breeze!
Thank you so much, this worked perfectly for me. I couldn't get the new belt on even after stretching it so I inspected the old belt and found that it was in good shape so I just used that. The hardest part of the entire operation was putting the belt back on, especially since I have never done this before. Thanks again this was really helpful. Send a couple $ your way.
Thank you for this video. Unfortunately you’re the first I ever thanked. Thanks to you and the many others who provide “how to” videos, I’ve saved lots of money, learned a lot and just genuinely feel better for accomplishing things on my own. Thanks for being a difference maker!!!
Awww, I'm glad this helped make the difference to help you out!
Thank you. We saw one of your other videos for our washer after it blew open and bought a new one based on your recommendations and now were back watching you about the dryer 🤣🤣 so off to break down the dryer and see what parts we need to order. Your videos are life saving .
Wow! I was able to follow this and do the entire thing myself. THANKS A TON MAN! God bless you.
Great video and straight to the point. My Samsung dryer had the exact same problem that you covered. Thank you.
Up and running again. Thanks for this great video! One tip is to hook the spring prior to screwing the pulley arm in. It’s much easier to get the spring in the right orientation. Thanks!👍🏼
THANK YOU!!! IM SO BUSY N DIDNT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG. Your tutorial was Perfect. I fixed Everything in 2 hours. Disassembled, repaired Obvious and put back together. Thank you! 100% thorough. Saved me a new dryer and lots of $!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, well done, appliances in our days are very expensive and there is not enough money left to replace them.
You saved me a ton of time and money and did a great job showing the mechanical side of this problem. Kudos!
This made my night and weekend so much easier than I expected it to be. Thank you!!
Awesome! took me 45 min to tear down and replace. Very thorough video. Thank you so much! Happy wife now too! 11 out of 10
Video helped me immensely. He was right, the door switch is a pain to get off! Thank you!
Thank you so much for wonderful video.
18 dollar parts from Amazon I was able to run my dryer in no time.
Great video! i got the exact dryer and my plastic pulley arm wheel was shattered just like this one. New parts should be here in a couple days. I used the link provided to get the kit from Amazon.
You are MY HERO! Christmas Day 2022 and NO DRYER...... Looks like I'm loaded up with lint and it blew out my idler roller. you just saved me a BUNCH OF MOOLA AND a lot of time.
I was able to fix my dryer and saved $550! Thanks so much!
Thanks guys. You saved me $250, minimum. My only problem was one of the motor retaining clips was not secure after assembly. Besides that, everything was pretty straight forward. Thanks again.
Thanks for the detailed video. The hardest part for me was putting the belt back on the pulley. Your tip to stretch the new belt did the trick.
I've done a few of these, and only recently have the belts need stretched. Not too happy on that one, because virtually every other brand come pre-streched, or at least never have this horrible problem.
Great video! Saved me some money and ordered the replacement parts from your shop! 😎
By far the best dyi video I have ever seen! Thank you. you are a pro’s pro.
Thanks for this very helpful video. It was able to take my dryer apart and find that the spring had come off. Didn't even have to replace the pulley as I had fully expected. Great to have an early view of what I was to find when I started taking things apart. The advice on removing the top was particularly helpful.
Thanks to your video I was able to replace my belt on my own! Much appreciated
thank you for your video, I appreciate being shown the quick way to tear apart the dryer and change the pulley/belt
Thanks, was able to replace the belt, tension pulley, spring,, and 4 other pulley that came with the kit, samsung dryers are so fragile, it is nice they make parts for it, glad you made this video, I guess the other pulley just went bad and it broke apart and the belt came off, I also used a vacuum to clean the motor and all around the bottom surface, again, great video, it helped a lot
Watched this video and had my dryer fixed in 30 minutes. Took the dryer apart expecting the worst and ended up being the screw that holds the idler pulley on had loosened right off. Screwed it back on, re installed the belt. Put it all back together and had an error code. I forgot to plug back in the door sensor wire. Took it apart and plugged in the sensor. Put it back together and hit play. To my wife's amazement it started up and was met with a smile. Thank you.
Thank you. Helped me to get in the machine and replace a worn out drum roller. Much appreciated!!
Thanks for your video and the helpful tip and hints. It was the best video on the repair and I looked at several. I will look at anything you put out on appliances. Thanks again.
Fantastic video...appreciate not only what to do to take it apart, but details on how to put back together, including tips to avoid possible mistakes.
Oh you are a heaven send!!!!!!!! We had just a slightly different model but this video showed us everything we needed to replace ours! Thank you so much!!!!
Great work, thanks for the helpful info! My dryer just stop working so I am watching videos to learn more.
Thank you! I have the same model or almost as shown. Got it apart and the belt slipped off. Checked everything and put back together and it's working! I did order a belt and pulley but it's not here yet.
I have the exact problem …plus a broken balance/rotating wheel. Easy peasy after watching your video.
Very helpful.. I still cussed alot but not as much as if i hadn't watched the video first..😝
Crappy thing about a dryer and this video is... You do it once and you realize doing it a 2nd time would go 4x faster. Not just because you lost half the screws in the process, but because you then know where all the stupid bits are that you gotta take off and move.
@@bensappliancesandjunk yup!
Thanks man I really appreciate the camera angles!
Story time: I went to add clothes to the dyer, as usual went to clean the lint. It was my day off so I decided to clean the inside part of the lint filter holder, it seems it was never in 5 years cleaned. Go through a bunch but needed a flashlight. So I propped my cell up so the light goes right down and wouldnt you know it, my phone goes right down too. My 5 minute project turned into a 30 minute one, This man save me so much time. Thank you Ben. Thank you
You're doing God's work good sir! Helped me save tons of money, thank you!
Perfect! My dryer is fixed! Excellent video
Helped me a ton , thank you so much for your detailed, simplified instructions
So far so good! I've ordered the offending part (yes, the idler pulley was shot) and hopefully I'll be able to put it all back together. Thanks so much!
I saved a ton of money fixing it myself.
Thanks👍
Exact same dryer I have. Thank you for the video! Saved me 100 bucks for someone to just knock on my door. Then labor and parts.
Hey! You rock! Thanks for the video. Saved me a lot of cursing and screaming 😅
Perfect video thank you saved my family 500$
Helped me fix our Samsung Dryer, thank you sir!
When the Idler arm hit the bottom of the dry I knew this was the right video because that’s what I heard. Thanks for the video and the link for the parts 🤙🏿
Thank you for making this video. It was a great help to me while repairing my dryer.
I needed to reroute the vent from the rear exit to the bottom exit. Your video showed me how to disassemble and reassemble it. Thanks.
Great job!
I wouldn't have been able to crack it open without this... at least it made quite straight forward. Thank you!
Thanks! Unless you have a video with the same or very similar model, these are a real PITA to get open... But a video tends to make understanding it really, really easy for the most part. So if you have to do it 3 or 4 times, you can basically do it blindfolded.
Btw, I found it easier to access the belt tension arm from the back end (once you manage to get behind the dryer). Just remove the vent access... The tensioner arm has a small hole that aligns with a hole on the fixed part so that you can insert a piece of clip wire to hold the tensioner pulled all the way. Then it is easy to set the belt... trying to do it from the front was a bit of a pain for my short arms with little leverage.
@@henryxavj the thing is, some models do have vent access and some don't... I wanted to include that snippet w/ this video but alas, when I went to try it, there wasn't any room. Some have just the 3" vent hole, and others have an oblong section, and this certainly didn't. So I didn't mention it lest I get yelled at by 'Tubers that didn't have the ability to get there and get mad because "You made me rip off the vent now I can't get it on again!" ha ha
Thanks bud this helped termendously on the belt and pulley change. I don't think you mentioned it but there is a set of holes that you can use to pin the pully in the up position to make putting the belt on a lot easier.
Glad I found this comment, Im going to try this cause that step is intimidating me
Thank you so much, great video, very helpful.
first time i ever do this. we ordered piece through amazon. Followed instructions. Good to go.
👍🙏
Saved me 20x this much in labor costs to call someone out to fix the dryer.
Awesome! Glad it helped
Great video and well explained.. Just fixed mine. Now I can get back to the lake!
Thanks again ✌🏼
Great job on this video. Thanks so much for making it.
Thank you for this video this saved me 300$ probably more i did it within 2 hrs due to one of the screws stripping so i had to go get a tool to take that off and the rest was easy if it wasnt for that couldnlve been a 20 min job
Great video! If it’s not a broken belt then test the fuses. I had a bad fuse but now my dryer is like new.
You just saved me a lot of money thanks got my dryer up and running 😉
Thank you for the video the repair went great! I do have a few questions, I continue to hear a rattle like it did before the idler pulley broke and I also smell burning. I know there was a lot of black looking stuff all over the motor and around it (assuming from the old pulley busting and breaking). Is there something else that could be going on? Is the smell just from what was left behind? Will the rattling stop? I replaced the belt, idler pulley and spring.
FANTASTIC VIDEO!! Thank you for sharing. Saved my butt! Very well done!
Thanks man... this video was so clutch. Just followed and fixed mine.
Appreciate the video. Got my dryer fixed.
Thank you so much for helpful and practical video.
Such a great diagnostic video! Thank you so much for making this and you helped me fix my dryer! God bless!
Thank you so much. Same issue. Fixed and running well.
Thank you! I used this video to fix my Dryer!
Great job!
I appreciate this video! I fixed my dryer! Thank you!

Brother you have safe the day and I founded exactly what you stated thank you very much
