@ yeah, I just replaced the blades today, tight fit and was wondering where the heck the spark plug was but was too dark to start taking it apart, now I know it’s a pain to get too. It’s a joke it’s designed like that!
I hope Toro company is watching this video. All this work to change a spark plug! I hope they come up with an easier product to work with. Thanks for the video BTW.
Thank you for the informative video. I wish Toro would make it easier to replace a spark plug instead of having to remove all that. Your video helps me out. Thanks.
I was able to get the chute, rings and shroud off--FINALLY! Changed the spark plug and it still failed to start. On to cleaning and rebuilding the carburetor. Boldly going where this not-so-handy man has never gone before.
Neil Yaremchuk You Sir, are more DIY than I. Good luck with the venture, I in the mean time, "borrowed" my unit to my son (now that it's working. I 'll never see it again.
Check that. I was able to take the discharge chute off but cannot get the inner and outer rings off because of the funky screw that's in there. It definitely appears to be a star but nothing in my box fits.
Whoever designed this snowblower should have his head held underwater for 30 minutes to contemplate why 11 screws and a fuel cap must be removed to reach the goddamn spark plug.
Bill, I have a 2013 Power Clear 418 ZE similar to yours. I'm having trouble taking the discharge chute off. The screws seem to be hex or star. I've tried every bit in the box and yet nothing seems to fit. Any suggestions?
Neil Yaremchuk Similar, possibly. But could be apples and oranges when it comes to the screw type holding the ring down. I tried to get your snoblowers manual on line without success. I know this advice is late and obvious but please try a new tool from home depot or sears after verifying with the manual
Thanks Bill for taking the time to do this it was very helpful I have the same snow blower and I am also DYI however I don't know what to do to remove spark plug it's too tight? and where can I purchase the Sea Foam?
+Doris Rodriguez Sorry for the extreme delay. Spending more time making music videos. Sea foam can be bought at your local auto parts store. Call in advance. Advanced Auto Parts is a good chain.
I'm sorry I do not remember. And I can't check it right now because my son has the blower. What you can do is get a spark plug socket. they sell this at home depot for under $4. I hope this helps.
Is it really $125? I'm on my 3rd season with mine and haven't changed it yet. I'll probably wait one more season and do it and the fuel filter when it put it up in the Spring.
Taking the front cover off was completely unnecessary all you had to do was take the Black cover off the back and having the right tools for the right job always helps
UPDATE: I had trouble getting it started again this year even though I drained all the gas and had a recently installed spark plug. The Napa saleman suggested I use Sea Foam. A bit pricey ($10) but you just need a little. I added an ounce to the tank with new premium gas and she fired right up.
OK..THE SEA FOAM DIDNT JUST FIRE IT UP..THE SEAFOAM IS USED TO CLEAN OUT THE CARBS JETS ...IT NEEDS TO RUN A WHILE FOR THAT TO EVEN OCCURE,..SO THE FOAM DIODNT HELP IN STARTING YOU MOTOR ..BUT IT WILL MAKE IT RUN BETTER AFTER A WHILE
I apologize to all that have questions that need immediate answers. I do not check my videos that often. But will do so if I am able. I wonder if there was a way to alert the author when there was a question?
I thought it was a joke at first. But found out this is how it really is designed. Terrible. Thanks for the vid.
Was it the 90s Weather Channel music that made you think it was a joke at the beginning?
@@kHRIStu4 It was taking off the shoot to get to the plug. How complex it all was for just a plug. Music was great.

Great job with the step by step. I followed your directions and had it done in no time. Thanks
Music put me to sleep ..rest good information.
I hope Toro company is watching this video. All this work to change a spark plug! I hope they come up with an easier product to work with. Thanks for the video BTW.
+akbaxb165 - I have an older Toro... I don't have to take all that apart to get to the Spark Plug.
Thank you for the informative video. I wish Toro would make it easier to replace a spark plug instead of having to remove all that. Your video helps me out. Thanks.

@@williamskar9672 My friend advised me you can get a new carb for around $20. Much easier to replace than disassembling the old one.

Very helpful...now I know for sure that's it's as hard as I thought to get to the plug.

Yup, did the same process to empty the fuel tank at the end of the season.

Can you tell me what size socket you used for spark plug? Thanks

Thanks.
It's a 7/8 socket or a 13/16. I used a 13/16
That particular plug is 3/4.

Don't you have to gap the spark plug?

Sorry for the delay. You can get sea foam from an auto part store like Auto zone. It's
best to have a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug.
I can’t believe what I am watching to change a plug. Ariens must be laughing.
+Al Gorel - I have an older Toro... I don't have to take all that apart to get to the Spark Plug.
Came for the info, stayed for the early 80’s porno sax.
Insane it takes this much effort to get at the plug. Design fail.
Like 10 minutes too watch unscrew the screws 😖
No need to remove all that, can replace that plug in 2-minutes. Better watch another video done the correct way.
OMG(ay) with the music and credits! LMAO
Poor design, should have a cutout on top of cover for spark plug.
i quit watching after seeing a crescent wrench, i thought i would see a real mechanic
+John H - A " Real Mechanic " sometimes uses his teeth. Hmmmmm, LMFAO !!!
the description is self-explanatory..............I guess a real mechanic can't read.
Cant see anything. Terrible video
