I don’t get sketchbooks as gifts and I’m not allowed to go to the store so I always fill up my pages before I ask to get a new one
looking back at sketchbooks from a year ago, I noticed how I left a lot of unused space in them, so with the current sketchbook I have now, im trying to fill up every page if i possibly can 🏌️

honestly i think it's some kind of psychological thing, because that happens to a lot of people where we draw something on homework or something we don't care about and feel more creative and artistic than we would on a sketchbook page or a giant paper! idk, just my thoughts, idk why i felt obligated to share that but do with that what u will lol

It's maybe similar to when you draw at home vs when you draw in art class. I don't know but in art class my work is always sucks compared to when I draw at home in my own time.

I am an artist, I call myself an artist because I spend a lot of my time creating art, but I don’t enjoy it. I get jealous when I see somebody better then me, I get angry when I mess up, most of my pages are torn messes. I can’t stop, this is the only thing I know how to do. It is nice to see somebody enjoy it as much as I wish I could, the drawings on those pages are beautiful and it makes me really happy. You are a gorgeous human- much love

Just keep drawing, practice makes better. Hating your drawings is part of the learning, years ago I would tear up my drawings whenever I made a mistake. I know how it feels, and I also know it'll get better. You'll get better. Your art will get better. You just have to keep drawing!

I loved the fact that you talked about your inspirations and not just treated your early arts like trash. I am trying to draw again and I have seen some videos of sketchbook tours and in the last week I had a anxiety crisis seeing an artist talking very badly about her first drawings (which I thought were beautiful). Her attitude made me feel really bad when I found myself thinking that what I'm drawing now is horrible, since it's not even on the same level as her "bad drawings". Thank you for sharing your first sketchbooks as a necessary part of your progress.
thank you for commenting :) i understand where you're coming from. i also do understand that many of these artists are very self deprecating so they might not be saying those things with bad intents if you catch my drift

What stood out to me was how much artists are influenced aswell as inspired by what they are into at that time of creating the art. Our art doesn't just evolve cos our intersts change but also cos we mature and we see the world a bit different too.

It doenst have to be pretty, it doenst have to perfect. Don't create art thinking "i need to create something beautiful", instead have a mindset of creating something ugly and just let your imagination flow out. You learn, you improve, you will grow. So keep going! It takes time, so got at your own pace ❤️ remember, make art for your happiness, not others.

Journaling might help? Take time with yourself to think about how you want to present yourself & how you feel about other people. For me, I wasn’t able to put a name to it when I was young but I knew I had attraction to the same sex. It might be confusing, but it’s always worth it to take time to try to get to know yourself! Journaling and art helped me :)

Yeah when that happens to me I like to watch a bunch of artist youtubers and drawings so I can get inspired and motivated again.
I've watched this video like hundreds of times since being realesed and i wont stop because ive also kept all my sketch books since i was about 5 and some art i did as a really young kid just too see my progress i want to post a video of it oneday but I still havent because I want to fill up all my sketchbooks first, seeing Them {sorry idk your pronouns} being so confident in their art from when they were younger and not putting it down is amazing :D it makes me so happy because all progress matters regardless of how big or small, and im glad im not the only person who also copied and drew a bit of anime before they found their style, because now i have an art style :D but references, copying, anime and pintrest all helped thank you so much for this video :)
these videos always inspire me to keep drawing, because it's great to see how people evolve, it inspires a lot.

When she said she labeled herself as gay in middle school, I was like, more than half of the girls in my school said they were lesbian. Not the boys, just the gurls. It's like, saying your lesbian is a "trend". I do support it but faking is just...why?
Bro at my middle school, it was like every girl was bisexual. Everyone. And then they would date these boys who said they thought it was hot and then the girls’d be like “Guys look how accepting and progressive my boyfriend is, omg he’s the best!” Now all of them have conveniently forgotten about that phase in their lives, but only a few of them are like homophobic now and I get making bad decisions as kids, so as long as they’re not being total bitches now I don’t really give them a hard time about it. Not gonna lie though, as a girl who discovered her appreciation for other women in middle school when it started to become popular, it definitely made me not really wanna tell people about it, for fear of being seen as trying to imitate the popular girls. It’s whatever now tho.

i started drawing in 1st grade and the reason for that is because in art class the teacher liked my chicken drawing because it had squiggly lines, therefore my chicken was unique.
i'm in fourth grade now.
edit: also my chicken got placed in an art event and then it got placed in the office at the school right now my grandma is storing it in the boxes.

it’s sad those hands in your first sketchbook are better than mine will ever be like i can draw anything BUT HANDS
Then look for "how to draw hands". The one flaw you have should be the thing you try to correct the sooner. Good luck, yeah?
