So I’m not the only one that doesn’t finish their sketchbooks

I don’t get sketchbooks as gifts and I’m not allowed to go to the store so I always fill up my pages before I ask to get a new one
looking back at sketchbooks from a year ago, I noticed how I left a lot of unused space in them, so with the current sketchbook I have now, im trying to fill up every page if i possibly can 🏌️

I get so many happy feelings from people talking about my name, Rainey. since it not really a common name! Plus I absolutely loved the design she did for that character! It fits so well! It also makes me love my name more since I use to not like it at all, because it was different!💕

so my name is robin (diffrent acc name) but its speeled weird and ppl make fun of it by pronouncing it how its spelled aometimes or i used to wanna cry its spelled Robine but prounounced robin but they would pronounce it exactly it would make me sad and hate it but after a while i saw ONE person pelled like that and i was fine lots of love stay happy

What stood out to me was how much artists are influenced aswell as inspired by what they are into at that time of creating the art. Our art doesn't just evolve cos our intersts change but also cos we mature and we see the world a bit different too.

my art progressed from alot of my pals off disord.
they told me alot of tips to start out with, still use them till this day.
my mum worked at a paper org, so at the time i had alot of paper to use, i started to use more shades, still use most of them today.
i also had a dad who was great at art, so i saw alot from him.

I am an artist, I call myself an artist because I spend a lot of my time creating art, but I don’t enjoy it. I get jealous when I see somebody better then me, I get angry when I mess up, most of my pages are torn messes. I can’t stop, this is the only thing I know how to do. It is nice to see somebody enjoy it as much as I wish I could, the drawings on those pages are beautiful and it makes me really happy. You are a gorgeous human- much love

I suppose all I can say is:
Just keep drawing, practice makes better. Hating your drawings is part of the learning, years ago I would tear up my drawings whenever I made a mistake. I know how it feels, and I also know it'll get better. You'll get better. Your art will get better. You just have to keep drawing!

U should keep drawing I did that too I would try to draw but when I messed up and crumble and throw it in the trash so I stopped drawing for a while and I started again and when I did I tried not to crumble it up and that helped me a lot and now my drawings r really good well at least to me lol well don't give up have a good day or night. honestly i think it's some kind of psychological thing, because that happens to a lot of people where we draw something on homework or something we don't care about and feel more creative and artistic than we would on a sketchbook page or a giant paper! idk, just my thoughts, idk why i felt obligated to share that but do with that what u will lol

It's maybe similar to when you draw at home vs when you draw in art class. I don't know but in art class my work is always sucks compared to when I draw at home in my own time.
Oh my gosh- yes! It’s like if I’m doodling on a rough piece of paper then I create something amazing; but then if I’m actually trying to draw something properly in a sketchbook then I take like an hour only to decide what to draw. Then when I try to draw, it’s just so difficult.

Honestly I’m so happy to be an artist.It makes me so happy looking in my old sketchbooks and looking how much I improved
I began drawing in 4th grade, non stop up until mid 8- 9th grade can’t remember. I recently started, like really recently, it’s my junior year of hs and I started Nov. It’s really fun and I’m super happy, Im surprised I can still manage to draw pretty good. I wonder what my art would look like if I didn’t stop for two years, so for anyone who’s stopped take your time and slowly get back into it :)
I loved the fact that you talked about your inspirations and not just treated your early arts like trash. I am trying to draw again and I have seen some videos of sketchbook tours and in the last week I had a anxiety crisis seeing an artist talking very badly about her first drawings (which I thought were beautiful). Her attitude made me feel really bad when I found myself thinking that what I'm drawing now is horrible, since it's not even on the same level as her "bad drawings". Thank you for sharing your first sketchbooks as a necessary part of your progress.

I'm so angry at my 12 year old self for throwing away all of my drawings from 5th to 7th grade because I cringed so hard at the things I used to draw but now when I think about it my artstyle wasn't even that terrible at the time 😔

I've watched this video like hundreds of times since being realesed and i wont stop because ive also kept all my sketch books since i was about 5 and some art i did as a really young kid just too see my progress i want to post a video of it oneday but I still havent because I want to fill up all my sketchbooks first, seeing Them {sorry idk your pronouns} being so confident in their art from when they were younger and not putting it down is amazing :D it makes me so happy because all progress matters regardless of how big or small, and im glad im not the only person who also copied and drew a bit of anime before they found their style, because now i have an art style :D but references, copying, anime and pintrest all helped thank you so much for this video :)
Idk why but this somehow inspired me to draw again, I was in artist burn out doing studies basically everyday and I really got bored of art, but after watching this. Realized I can get good even without taking away the fun thanks.

I want to go to college for art one day (is it called AP art? idk) I especially want to get better at drawing people and learning how to do digital art.
