I am new to this level of makeup. Haven’t really worn it for 20 years. Thank you so much for all of your tips and tricks! You are my favorite you tuber! I’m going back and watching all your past videos!
Love your work! Very natural. Not enough ppl are showing how subtle these differences are, but it matters! Ppl are too busy adding and caking on more and more product to see that, so thank you!
Holy cow. I couldn't tell the difference until you put the shadow brush down the middle of your face. That's an impressive difference. Thanks for the tips!
This was very helpful! Thank you for sharing your tips. I like that the differences between the eyes were subtle but definitely made a difference in how the eyes looked.
Since I watched your video on how to line hooded eyes I always do it this way!! It makes a huge difference. These tutorials are so so helpful for us extremely hooded eyes ladies. 😀
These are excellent tips. Watched it 3x consecutively to solidify the tips into my subconscious. Lol. Thanks for the work you put into these videos. 😘😘
Once again, a great tutorial!!! So clear! I appreciate you showing subtle differences. I've definitely been guilty of the eyeliner "DON'T." Thanks for the tips, Stephanie!
Great video! Very helpful! Thank you for making the "don't" a realistic one....it actually looked like what I do each day, so I was able to see what a difference some subtle technique tweaks could make. I get tired of seeing the dramatized versions of "don't"s that are usually so exaggerated that they aren't helpful. I'll definitely try your tips when I get ready for work tomorrow. Thanks again!
I appreciate this do's and don'ts video because I have hooded eyes which can get very frustrating. I love learning new tricks and tips on makeup! You look beautiful as always:)
Extremely helpful and great color choices! I've noticed WnW Brulee is very popular choice for many influencers. Hard to find but with use your link. Thanks, Stephanie....
Great tutorial! Love the comparison and easy correction. Also appreciate your simple and easy to apply, everyday looks. I work in a hospital, not a rave!
This is one of the best tutorial I've ever watched and I've seen a lot. You've addressed every problem I've had with my eye makeup. I'm pretty sure you're the best eye makeup lady in the world. 😊
This has been such an informative video! I have hooded eyes that recently have gotten worse. I have been trying to make some changes on how i apply shadow so thank you so much for this video! Great video!
Thank you!! I just tried these tips and air like the results, I was doing all the things you said not to! My puffy underbrow was being highlighted, now I get it. Thumps up!!
Great job! I have seriously hooded eyes I've practiced your eyeshadow technique many times It works wonders I have very little lid space somedays my hoods aren't as puffy so bizarre 😡 😘😘
Thank goodness I found your channel!!! We have very similar eye issues and I have learned so much. I was definitely guilty of the “don’t” eye, but since trying the “do” technique, my eyes look so much better. I have been using all of your makeup tips and when I come home and look in the mirror my makeup still looks great...I don’t even want to wash it off (but of course I do). Thanks again, Stephanie
Hi Stephanie - I have been watching your videos for about a year. I am commenting on this particular video because this is the one that taught me how to apply makeup to my older hooded eyes correctly. Thank you for inspiring women "of a certain age" like me! XO Theresa
When I was younger I did my eye mu almost exactly like this. I just used eyeshadow duos that had a medium brown & a cream/light beige shades & smudged a dark brown pencil or shadow into the outer 3rd of the bottom & upper lid. Then of course mascara. I have more space between my lashline & eyebrow than you do & now that age has caused my hood to drop & cover my lids completely, I have had to learn to use more than one transition shade to fill up that space. I must avoid shimmer or glitter on the lids because it always transfers. I bought some glitter glue to see if that made any difference. I'm finding that a subtle daytime "smokey eye" works really well for me. I just start with the deepest shade at the lashline & transition up, going lighter & blending everything carefully. I think for certain hooded eyes, this works quite well. I tightline the top lashline & define the bottom with shadow only.
#hoodedeyefam right here! It is a struggle to get great eye makeup looks without your tricks. I love to use them. Liner is the hardest part for me. I need to try your trick(s) for liner. Not sure why I haven’t. What am I waiting for????? Another great video, Stephanie! Thank you so much! Betsy in the Seattle suburbs
Just brilliant ! Thank you ...I just realized that I fall in the category with the hood accentuated on the outer third part of the eye making me beleive all this time that I had downturned droopy eyes. I just tried your technique...and oh miracle...I discovered that I have in fact almond eyes ! :D
Great tutorial Stephanie! Unfortunately my eyes are not at all symmetrical, my left hood is a lot like yours, but my right is severely hooded with no lid showing. But, I think your tips will allow me to adjust the shadow on my right to compensate. I don't think I can do any eyeliner because of the right hood, but I do tightline and that makes a huge difference. Thank you for the tips!
Hi, I watched a dozen time your video!!!! I have zero talent and you helped me ssso much! I’m in Canada and can’t find WetNWild Brûlée nor Nars Coconut grove... please offer me dupes 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi great video! You listed Nars Galapagos as the liner ( in text below ) but mentioned it was Coconut Grove in the video. Just wondering as it looked great which one it was. thanks
Interesting but I did notice the "entire eye " of your left "don't side " become brightened in a different way when you did the highlighter. But I definitely see your up lift with everything that you do with your liner. If/when I start using liner I'm hopefully going to b getting your advice. Thank you. 😄💕
Tartelette in Bloom is in a different category than the other two IMO. I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. I like having a couple of shimmer options as well. But I also like having an all matte option. It depends on how large you want your palette. Personally, I don't need a huge all matte palette, so TF Natural Matte is perfect or UD Naked Basics (the original). So for me, having In Bloom and a smaller matte palette is perfect. :)
I don't have hooded eyes and actually I think (@lisa j) my eyes are shaped more like her's! Which I have wondered if I'd ever find any with my shape! I could seriously see though with your examples the actual hooded eye because of your "do" and "don't" eyes! I didn't even know yours were hooded even a little which says you do a great job with your make-up!! Both eyes still look beautiful and I am in love with the Benefits Concealer Boing that I actually bought because of you! Thank you ma'am! Also... setting with a damp beauty blender!! Great job as always! 😘
thanks Stephanie. My hooded eyes are so frustrating. I've definitely picked up great tips but the fold at my outer corner comes down so far , more on 1 eye than the other. It makes it impossible to have a wing at all so I've given up but definitely use the shadow tips.
Thanks for the tips Stephanie! I wish I could use your eyeliner technique (it looks so pretty) but when I tried it transfered to my hood. :( Any tips? Or should I just accept my eyes are too hooded?
Try keeping it smudged or tightlined as close to the lashline as you can. Are you priming/setting beforehand? What brand of shadow are you lining with?
Tory Scott I tried too, but lost the shadow in my hood. But I think my eye still looked slightly more upturned than when I just follow my eye shape. Going to continue practicing this one.
Stephanie Marie I have tried too faced, lorac and it cosmetics naturally pretty. My daughter has a tarte pallete I can steal. I usually set w a setting spray but obviously not spraying directly on eyelids. Is there a brand you find works better for lining?
I'd check into which primer you're using and what you're setting the primer with first and make sure you're taking both all the way from your lashline to the browbone. I'd experiment with different deep shadows, trying them wet AND dry as well. I feel like some work better dry than wet. It's trial and error. I have really good luck with Tarte, Too Faced and NARS shadows. I'm not sure about setting spray on the lids as I've never done that. But there's no ONE way for everyone since everyone's eyes are so different. If you're extremely hooded, you may do best keeping it localized right at the lashline and tightlining. That can make a big difference too! :)
Make a video ,in which you teach us that how can we cover up a double eyelid not to show it .....I know that my English is not super duper but plz try to understand plzzz
The Don't is a Do in Asia to get that cute big sad puppy eye, to look younger also :) Maybe in the future you can refer as, if you want the downturned exaggerated lid look, instead of "don't side"? Just a suggestion :) love your videos :)
+Rose Busch My eyes, like most women, aren't even all the time. If I did my "do" eye on that eye, I'd get raked over the coals for doing it on the easier eye.
Unfortunately I do. I have partially hooded eyes in that the fold of my crease goes down below the outer corner of my eye, making winged liner a challenge. I also HAVE to bring my crease color up above my crease or you can't see it. Not all hooded eyes are equal. Some are partially hooded like mine and others are severely hooded. There are different degrees. And my eyes aren't equally hooded either. One is worse than the other.
Your method of showing DO and DON'T versions side-by-side is really helpful!
Thank you! 😘

It's good to be reminded about these hooded eye tricks,so thank you, enjoyed the video💕
Best hooded eye tutorial you've done yet👍. Thank you for keeping it realistic! You can definitely see the difference.
Since I watched your video on how to line hooded eyes I always do it this way!! It makes a huge difference. These tutorials are so so helpful for us extremely hooded eyes ladies. 😀
Glad it's working for you Kelly!
Realistic and so helpful!! Very well explained for each step and so logical and make sense. Now I know what I was doing wrong. Thank you.
Great video! Love that you didn't over exaggerate the "don't" because that's just not helpful. I'm finally convinced to use my eyelash curler!
Thank you for this video especially the do and don’t at the same time on the same face. Very helpful!
This was super helpful and realistic. Loved the don’t eye comments - that’s what helped me understand the best!
I'm glad it was helpful! 💖
This is the best hooded eye tutorial I have watched! And I have watched many 😂 so glad I found you!❤
Thanks for the great tips, especially for the "professional" wing!
These are excellent tips. Watched it 3x consecutively to solidify the tips into my subconscious. Lol. Thanks for the work you put into these videos. 😘😘
Thank you!
It’s always so hard when you have hooded eyes. Thanks Stephsnie
Thank you Stephanie, I do a couple of the wrong things here so I will try the good eye way! Xx
Once again, a great tutorial!!! So clear! I appreciate you showing subtle differences. I've definitely been guilty of the eyeliner "DON'T." Thanks for the tips, Stephanie!
Stephanie you're so funny. It's such a subtle difference I can't really tell! That means you're great a makeup!😂
Dang, girl! That was awesome!! The realism made this so much more helpful than other hooded eyes videos! Keep up the amazing work!!
Thank you!

This is a GREAT video! I’ve been doing the “don’t” eye for years, and this was a great way to tweak to a “do” eye. Saving this for a reference.
One of the best hooded eye videos I’ve seen! Thank you!!! 🤗
Thanks so much Carrie!
Excellent video and thank you very much. I have very hooded eyes and these very in depth directions are great. Very helpful.

Excellent tutorial! Thanks for the tips. I have hooded eyes and wrinkles in the outer corner.
Great video example of how to make hooded eyes looked more awake and lifted.
Thank you for making this video! This look is exactly how I like to do my eye makeup, and now I know how to do it properly!

As always I love your videos! I've got deep set eyes and that's my big problem...
Thanks Steph! I learned a lot and can't wait to try this tomorrow ( which is actually today! Yikes!) xoxo
Excellent tutorial!
Great video. I think that I really need that MAC 266 liner brush because it looks so thin & precise and it's not too wide either.
+Jules of Wisdom I've tried other liner brushes and always seem to come back to this one! Thanks! :)
Wonderfully helpful video. Thank you.
Recently subscribed, so glad I did, so I am catching up on a few older video's along with some new ones!! xXx
Thank you Abigail! 😘
Such a great tutorial! I need to try the shadow liner. I think I have too deep of a fold, but I’m certainly going to try. Love all your videos! 💕

Hi great video! You listed Nars Galapagos as the liner ( in text below ) but mentioned it was Coconut Grove in the video. Just wondering as it looked great which one it was. thanks
Oh oops! I copied the link and didn't change the text! It was Coconut Grove but I use both regularly!

Love the video! Question for you:
Tartlette in bloom, UD ultimate naked basics, or Too Faced natural matte palette? I can't decide!!!
Tartelette in Bloom is in a different category than the other two IMO. I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. I like having a couple of shimmer options as well. Thank you 😘
Wow great video . thank you
Super helpful! Thank you! BTW, what's on your lips? I love that color!
I don't know why I didn't put it in the description box! I just added it! It's UD Naked liner and Too Faced Lip Oil in Papa Don't Peach. Thanks!
Yeah
Hi Stephanie! Great video as always! Thanks for sharing. Xoxo Daphne.💖
What type of dog is your black and white one? So adorable!!
He's a Havanese. They're such great dogs overall but his personality is just so quirky and fun. We love him so much! Thank you!
Those tips make all the difference on a great eye look. Have you done an eyebrow vid yet? Don't remember. That would be helpful. Thanks for info. 🌻
Yes I have. It's in my Not a UA-camr playlist. :) Thanks!
Thank you for the example! For the Coconut Grove Liner.....did you use it DRY or WET??
+Ann G. R. I used it wet on this day but I use it both ways. Experiment to see how you like it best.:)
NIce job...will do...thanks
Hello Stephanie thank you for this very informative tutorial. Do you use any product on your eyeliner brush when using shadow as liner?
Sometimes I dampen it with water or MAC Fix+ and sometimes I use it dry. 😘
I don't have hooded eyes and actually I think (@lisa j) my eyes are shaped more like her's! Which I have wondered if I'd ever find any with my shape! Thanks! Some days they definitely appear more hooded than others even though they're moderately hooded. Thanks girl! :)
thanks Stephanie. My hooded eyes are so frustrating. I've definitely picked up great tips but the fold at my outer corner comes down so far , more on 1 eye than the other. It makes it impossible to have a wing at all so I've given up but definitely use the shadow tips.
Lynn DeCarlo Same here! I tightline and it looks better on me than the winged liner.
Thanks for the tips Stephanie! I wish I could use your eyeliner technique (it looks so pretty) but when I tried it transfered to my hood. :( Any tips? Or should I just accept my eyes are too hooded?

Stephanie Marie definitely priming b4 hand. I almost bought a liquid liner boy that would be a scary mess! 🙃
I'd check into which primer you're using and what you're setting the primer with first and make sure you're taking both all the way from your lashline to the browbone. I have hooded eyes. It's always a struggle 😂
What was the eyeshadow pallet?
+Tessa Mccool Hi Tessa! I stated it was Tarte in Bloom and all products are listed in the description box if you're ever curious. Thanks for watching!
Stephanie Marie I over looked it. Sorry about that. Thanks for replying 😀
The Don't is a Do in Asia to get that cute big sad puppy eye, to look younger also :) Maybe in the future you can refer as, if you want the downturned exaggerated lid look, instead of "don't side"? Just a suggestion :) love your videos :)
Looks like you have more lid on the don't eye
+Rose Busch My eyes, like most women, aren't even all the time. If I did my "do" eye on that eye, I'd get raked over the coals for doing it on the easier eye.
Stephanie Marie Great video regardless 😊
Trust me..... you don't have hooded eyes. Nice make up though.....
Doing everything wrong till now 🙏
I think your eyes looked nearly the same but both looked great.
Confused 😐
You have no hooded Eyes! :-(
Unfortunately I do.
