I was in 8th grade (and a troublemaker) when this came out. Our math teacher was going to be gone a couple days and we (me specifically) were warned that any detentions we got were going to be doubled when she got back. First day of the substitute and, I swear it was unplanned, my buddy Roberto and I walk into class late. When the teacher said something about it, this song popped into my head. I turned to look up at the clock, turned back to her and said, "Aw man, I think the clock is slow. I don't feel tardy." The entire room busted up laughing. That was detention #1. Later in the class, the sub asked some question and Roberto immediately raised his hand. When she called on him he held up his pencil and said "I brought my pencil. Now give me something to write on man." Entire room busted up again. I laughed so hard I literally fell out of my desk and onto the floor. She figured I was in on it so detention #2 for both of us and an extra for me for falling to the floor. After the doubling I got 6 detentions in 1 class (and that was only day 1 of the sub) and all because a Van Halen song popped into my head.
Listen, this song is in my opinion one of the best friggin rock songs ever I’m 53 years old. Been around for a while and I freaking love this song so much Van Halen is an iconic band.!
An interesting story about Eddy's lead break is that he recorded multiple versions of it and then came back and pieced together a version of it that he was happy with . The funny part is that he had to go back and learn that version of it for the live performances. Eddie was always thinking outside the box.
Everything about this song is legendary. From the original composition to the culminated music video. The drums, guitar, bass, vocals, lyrics, vibe.... It's all top notch FUN. And the level of musical difficulty is off the charts. Inimitable.
Big Van Halen fan here!!! "Mean Street", "Somebody Get Me a Doctor", "Unchained", "Running with the Devil".... I could go on,.. and on, but that's a start. Merry Christmas guys!!!
Eruption Guitar solo Live without a net is an absolute must. When you review it you will understand that there are amazing guitarists out there and then there are GUITAR GODS and Eddie is the latter.
interesting fact: singer David Lee Roth' sister is producer/creator of the Rockabye Baby series. Those are lullaby versions of many hit artists/bands songs for babies to sleep to.
What set Van Halen apart from all the imitators they inspired is a wide range of influences. Aside from obvious Rock acts were also blues, soul & Funk & jazz. In fact they brought Kool and the Gang on tour with them!! Please hit Kool & the Gang "Funky Stuff" (73) Before they turned into a pop band. It's funky as hell 🔥
@jamesrawlins735 That's just my point. What contributed to making them both so unique is a wide range of influences. Not too mention they both grew up in musical families .
I remember when Eddy dabbled in the LA, SoCal climbing scene back in the 80s. He got some training out at Joshua Tree and got towed up Half Dome. Not bad for a dilettante. I think you can find pics of him climbing in Yosemite.
RIP Eddie, probably one of the best lead guitarists ever. Great song, video, and group. Van Halen had 2 totally different sounds; the David Lee Roth Van Halen and the Sammy Hagar Van Halen. I prefer the David Lee Roth era but both were damn good.
Van Halen's song, Hot for Teacher is Great! However, if you haven't done this song yet, listen to Jump 1984 from intro to the end!!! Awesome! Awesome! Song from beginning to end!!!! Rock On Van Halen!!! 🤘🤟✊👊💥🔥 RIP Eddie Van Halen.
I recommend their songs Light Up The Sky, Could This Be Magic, Little Guitars, Hang 'Em High, Little Dreamer, Feel Your Love, Girl Gone Bad, Panama, Top Jimmy, I'm The One...
Different genre..but I was just listening to “Groove Line” by Heatwave and thought of you guys. Don’t know if you’ve reacted to it yet..but it’s awesome. Takes me back to high school.
Hey fellas. David Lee Roth's vocals always on point don't you think? and RIP Eddie Van Halen is who played guitar solo in Michael Jackson's beat it song . Just some fun stuff to chew on 😊
Thank God we lived to experience Van Halen. We looked at it like reality. What they portrayed was real. And the girls hoped for " hot " teachers too. Lol.
Rip to the ultimate guitar hero, Eddie Van Halen…you guys need to jump into more VanHalen if you liked the guitar in this one. Try “Ain’t talkin bout love”, “Mean Street”, “Panama”, “unchained”, “Jamie’s Cryin”, “Ice cream man” to name a few….
If I were to summon my Super Duper Accurate Intuition and Gut instinct that is never wrong , I would speculate and surmise that the 'Character' of Waldo is placed in this video as a tribute to the Lead Singer's David Lee Roth's younger version of his younger self where he was a Nerd in School at first and always picked on but he had a desire to boink his Hot Teachers when he was in the Catatonic Nerd Like State...it's so blatantly obvious simply because of the fact You can tell what he has become as an Altruistic Rock God is beyond personality compensation for his earlier up and comings!
Good reaction. You mentioned Jump in comparison - a great contrast would be the Song 5150 on Live Without A Net. Sammy on Vocals, Live and just another era that's completely different but still awesome. Their live energy that first tour with Sammy (1986) is incredible musically and performance ... And that live version of 5150 is the best song to capture all members' talent in under 10 minute .. few have done this reaction .. but you'll get it if you do it
Stumbled across your channel and really enjoying it. So I have to put a plug in for a Canadian artist. If you try Colin James performing 'Why'd You Lie', I think you will enjoy his bluesy style! In the meantime, I wish you the best on this holiday season!
I love you guys. I watch a lot of your reactions. Thank you so much!. I just wish the guy on the bottom would not wear his hoodie up all the time. What's that all about?.

I’ve been saying ‘I don’t feel tardy’ for 40 years!
I've been saying "I got my pencil" for 40 years!
David Lee Roth is the showman that put this band over the top.
“Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” is a great song. Early Van Halen is the best. ❤

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm proud of you.
So great! I’m not sure I believe you, so fantastic.
I don't feel tardy.
You're my freakin' HERO!
You need to watch Eddie Van Halen's Eruption guitar solo from their without a net tour. He will leave you completely speechless!!!!
Yessssss it's a must!!
In the 80s anything went. So different than today. As a teacher it’s funny watching this. We don’t even think about it.
Excellent casting for Dave, Eddie, Alex, & Michael mini-mes! RIP, Eddie.
I’m a high school graduate of 1984! This was my album and this song was awesome!
Running With The Devil 👿 is a great One!!!!❤😊
Of course Eddie went on to play the solo on Beat It for Michael Jackson
Common knowledge. That the best you got?
I forgot more than you know
That was in 82
@@magna116 true everyone seems to know that by now. Shame not everyone realizes Steve Lukather played the rhythm guitars and bass on that track.
What made you bring that up?
There are so many Van Halen bangers out there. You should listen to them all.
Mean Street and Jamie’s Cryin are two songs you would love. You will recognize the drum riff that opens Jamie’s Cryin
I remember the model/teacher saying at first it felt weird but the kids were lovin' being there. It was just a good time making a Van Halen video. 😀
This video always cracks me up! Fun band!
Listen, this song is in my opinion one of the best friggin rock songs ever I’m 53 years old. Been around for a while and I freaking love this song so much Van Halen is an iconic band.!
My fav Van Halen song. It rocks....

That drum opening is also one of the greatest. Alex Van Halen did some crazy set up - plus the mixing in the studio to produce a drum masterpiece.
Unchained is a great one by them. But honestly, any song from their debut album. Every track on it is gold.
Enjoyed your reaction guys. "Aint talking about love" is a good one to check out.
As a graduate of 1984, I can assure you. NO teachers looked like Miss Phys Ed! Ha ha
CLASS OF '84!!!!!
They did in your dreams when you found your dad's dirty magazine stash😊
Clas of 86. Never had a hot teacher.
@@cwalokie9559 you are not wrong

He's right. Van Halen is about guitars. That's what i hear when i listen.
REST IN PEACE EDWARD. THE GOAT !
Golden age of music videos.
It was the best time ever growing up in the 80s
Everything about this song is legendary. From the original composition to the culminated music video. The drums, guitar, bass, vocals, lyrics, vibe.... It's all top notch FUN. And the level of musical difficulty is off the charts. Inimitable.
"Everyone had that one teacher"
It was way more than one...
Eddie Van Halen greatest guitar player in the universe
One of the best rock albums of all time. o7
Big Van Halen fan here!!! "Mean Street", "Somebody Get Me a Doctor", "Unchained", "Running with the Devil".... I could go on,.. and on, but that's a start. Merry Christmas guys!!!
Who could NOT love Van Halen? It's so hard to believe Eddie is gone.
Eruption Guitar solo Live without a net is an absolute must. When you review it you will understand that there are amazing guitarists out there and then there are GUITAR GODS and Eddie is the latter.
1984 was THE Van Halen album of my teenage years. SO many great songs on that 1 album.
I'm so old...my Grade school teachers looked like grandmas...but they were probably just middle aged...maybe...and I Spy parachute pants!
Right? I was in school during the 70s and 80s,the teachers looked so old but they were probably only in their 30s😆
"Mean Street" ain't bad...you guys react great...peace and love to all
AAHHH... 1984, what a year...

Plus don't forget they had Eddie Van Halen, one of the all-time greatest rock guitarists - and David Lee Roth was as good a front man at this time.
@jamesrawlins735
That's just my point.
What contributed to making them both so unique is a wide range of influences.
Not too mention they both grew up in musical families .
"Mean Street" is a banger.
Please react to Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Free Bird" is an appropriate start.
Thank you kindly Gentlemen.
Hilarious video. It’s one of those I put on sometimes when I really could use a smile.
Ice Cram Man, Mean Street, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, and Unchained are staples of The Mighty Van Halen!!!
Lots of great Van Halen. Fun reaction, guys.
I remember when Eddy dabbled in the LA, SoCal climbing scene back in the 80s. He got some training out at Joshua Tree and got towed up Half Dome. Not bad for a dilettante. I think you can find pics of him climbing in Yosemite.

Now you've got to listen to the ultimate song of the Dave era, Panama! My first memories of Van Halen and a sheet rocker!
Alex really gets after it during that guitar solo!!!
Love hearing Phil Hartman as Waldo. Miss him!!
Yes, boys!!
Always a great time. Great job
"I don't feel tardy" used to get me sent to the principal's office.
Dance the night away is a must❤
This was a classic 70's VH music video - and Eddie Van Halens guitarsolo's come on what a string shredder-!!!
Try '80's. From the album 1984, released in, you guessed it, 1984.
❤❤VH!! 1980’s were awesome !! EVH gone to soon!! The GOAT !!!
I worked for Dave. He is everything and all that too. 😁

I'm just waiting for Eddie's solo. I'm always just waiting for Eddie's solo.

What a Treat VH Showtime 🎉
Another good school song with a funny intro scene : " Be Crool To Your Scuel " by Twisted Sister and Alice Cooper. ;)
Fellas U guys need to react to Van Halen's Panama Music Video. U guys will like that video.
The song, When It's Love by Van Halen is a great song.
Panama would be a great next Van Halen song to chase this with.
No teachers. Lol
Gotta love Wayne Gretzky wife for her iconic teacher portrayal. ✌
I’m always up for anything Steve Perry!!!
That was FUN! ...Eddie called it a boogie swing shuffle I think...btw that guitar sold for $3.9M earlier this year...for real
Do "Panama" next 😊
We call them TILFS ...and yes I tagged my 11th grade history teacher and trust me I'll never forget that history!! Oh my god ah!!!

Hats off to Paula Abdul. She Chari graphed the boys moves. She also did ZZ Top Sharp dressed man.

Fun fact about the shooting of this video. Those kids got hammered with the band on Schlitz malt liquor lol
Jamies Crying is a great VH song if you get the chance, check it out. It's off their first album.
I love you guys. I watch a lot of your reactions. Thank you so much!. I just wish the guy on the bottom would not wear his hoodie up all the time. What's that all about?.
