It's been a long while since I've watched the film, its true in regard to the bleakness of the film to the point you can have no interest in how the conflict resolved.
But given the context of the movie, criminal justice, violence and especially the crime rates in Brazil is completely diffrent ballpark compare to Europe and America. Its no wonder 2007 is shocked critics outside Brazil. It didn't away shy way from the rife police brutality and corruption while displaying how they have everything working against them in tandem.
Being based on real accounts in the country its hard to argue against direction chosen. Though I agree the script could've been better.
It's a solid watch even its one time only.

It's alright decent action flick, would be better more have a different more scene and also even better direction some moment.
