Yes, I try to make as much as I can from stuff I can gather from our property. Theres something so special about it. Aww, thanks for that, thats awfully nice fo you, I'm glad you enjoy our stuff :) That made my day.
Great job! Gorgeous color. I've never canned. I'm excited to move towards that & dehydrating on the homestead. You've inspired me. You had a very good, little helper too. ❤
It has a unique flavour that isn’t for everyone. I mean, it tastes like roses, but some folks love it and some don’t find it appealing. If you try it, please let me know!!
Honey can be used as a substitute but it affects the consistency in certain cases. Not sure if that would be even acceptable as an alternative in your case or not ❤️❤️
First…dandelions…second…lilacs died before I managed to pick them…only a few days! Third…no wild roses so one day I will be able to use your videos!!!!
They are the most flavorful when they are fully bloomed early in the season, but technically you can make it in later bloom or even with dried petals, although in my opinion you lose some of the yummy flavor. But it certainly can be done for a milder jam/jelly :)
@@BrambleHillHomestead Awesome! We are going to make this. We just picked our first bucket of sweet cherries yesterday. So we will be making our cherry jelly today. We love it. Cherry and peach jellies are our favourite.
@@CreeksideMaplesHomestead oh YUM. Yes it’s hard to beat fresh cherries 🍒! We have cherry orchards locally also that are coming into season shortly, and I can’t wait!
@@BrambleHillHomestead That's great to hear! I can at my moms house for now, (until my kitchen is completed). She has a glass top stove and the little electric cooking plate I bought just takes FOREVER to heat. So, you've had no issues waterbathing on the cooktop? I'm not sure how I'd feel about pressure canning but I'd like to try a water bath!
@@arusticrenaissance yeah I’ve never had a problem but my water bath canner also isn’t a smooth bottom, it’s kinda textured and rippled on the bottom (don’t know how to explain it), so I always feel comfortable using it.
The color is amazing.
Isn’t it so bright !?

I have never tried the rose petals. Very interesting Do they have to be the wild roses? What about roses in the garden?
It would definitely work with any roses at all!
We are going to make this for sure. Is there a better time to pick the petals? Early when they first bloom , mid bloom or late or does it not matter ?
