Bramble Hill Homestead
Canada
Приєднався 15 лип 2013
We are the Snyder family from British Columbia, Canada. We are sharing stories from everyday living on a small hobby farm with Speckle Park and Jersey/Lowline cows, chickens, and ducks. We will be adding sheep to our farm in spring 2022! Learning as we go when it comes to animals and gardening, and trying to be more and more self-sufficient.
We have no idea what we’re doing!
We now have two babydoll sheep, and we need to trim their hooves, but we have never done it before. Catch us for the first time and see how we do!

Time to get water to the homestead!
Переглядів 1272 роки тому
Each spring, when everything thaws, we need to connect water from our small spring/creek, to the farm in order to water the animals and irrigate the land. It's been no fun hauling water, and so today we attempt to get everything up and running.
We’re Back!!!! It’s spring and we have stuff to do!

We are getting Babydoll sheep in a month, and I wanted a little lamb shed/shelter where they can go at night, or in inclement weather, so we are hopping to it!
Luna’s afternoon at the lake #bramblehillhomestead #bordercolliepuppy
Переглядів 692 роки тому
Luna, our border collie puppy, is growing up so fast! She’s just over 3 months old, and today we decided to take her on a little car trip to the lake! She really enjoyed exploring, and checked out the water a bit (“What’s this!?!?”) and overall enjoyed herself very much.
Slate goes to the chicken hospital!
Переглядів 1023 роки тому
Poor Slate seems to have developed a respiratory virus and is wheezing, coughing, and sneezing. Time to put her in the chicken hotel for a little TLC, heat, and antibiotics. Also, watch to the very end to see a chicken throw up on me haha. So gross!
PART 2: What a COWWWWTASTROPHE!! Getting everything all fixed up. #bramblehillhomestead #cows
Переглядів 1823 роки тому
In Part 1, we showed you what the naughty cows did recently. They ate through the power cord to the energizer for the electric fence, they ate through an extension cord, and electric polywire. They also ate through the cord that leads to their stock de-icer, all on a day when it was SUB SUB zero temps. Well, we got everything up and running, and fixed up so that they (hopefully) cant do that ag...

Christmas on the Homestead - Part 2 - Getting and decorating the tree #bramblehillhomestead
Переглядів 1813 роки тому
As you can tell, this video was filmed a bit earlier than I'm posting it, because we are now under SNOW!!!! Thank goodness we were able to get the tree before the snow came, because now theres tons of it, and it was so much easier to go searching and retrieving a tree when it was dry. Decorating it wasnt completely easy though, as you'll see. We had to forfeit the bow on top because the tree al...

@@teriemitchell4134 good luck! Hope everything goes smoothly :)
The cidr is to prevent estrus not induce it. It blocks the cycle for 7 days so when you remove it and give the second shot it creates estrus.
Can I freeze them into a zip lock bag instead jar?
@@umaimasiddiqui7376 I haven’t done it in a Ziploc bag, and to answer your other question, no, they didn’t come out soggy
@@BrambleHillHomestead thank youu
I have frozen my rosemary in a freezer bag. I didnt take leaves off stem. I will freeze some in a jar off the stem now with your tip.
@@cathy-70 let me know which way you prefer!
Did it come out fine Or soggy once they start defrosting??
Love all urbs
Great video…I have a lot of roses blooming right now so I’m going to make jam in the morning…thank you for the great instruction 😊
@@lucyandlily4197 you won’t be disappointed! This one is one of our favorites! Good luck and enjoy!
imma try your process and test it out, thanx for the advise amd education, keep on making videos amd never give up
Hi. Can Rosemary be placed in freezer bags to freeze them? Thanks.
You bet!
2 years later💀
Do you freeze them in glass jars?
Yep glass canning jars is what I use
Can you store them long term?
They are good for up to 3-5 years
Can you use white vinegar? And can you omit the sugar?
Yes you can use white vinegar; sugar is used to balance the vinegar and add taste, but there are recipes out there without sugar for sure.
I'm try this cider protocol so results is 💯
That;s so cute!! She's very sweet!
Thank you. She’s all grown up now and just turned two! 🎈
Did yours ever turn black inside the glass container?
No I haven’t had that happen
do you freeze them in the jar? or do you put them like in a zip lock bag?
Yep, in a glass jar
@@BrambleHillHomestead thank you, I just put some in the freezer. as we soon be getting frost so great way to save it, plus made some hair rinse with rosemary
So put it in a jar in the freezer and freeze the leaves? You weren't clear!?!??!!?!?!?!!?!?!?
Yes exactly
Freeze drying. Cool 👍
One thing with putting any herbs in a freeze dryer is the heat. Heat kills the nutrients. All the flavors are there but you lose the healthy nutrients.
We don’t do freeze drying of herbs ☺️
@@BrambleHillHomesteadI thought you said in your video you like freeze drying and recommended it because of flavor..?
@@Acts-1322 no- just freezing it. Putting it in the freezer.
Thank you for sharing this with us, can I ask what essential oils did you use in the end? I would also like to have seen how firm or soft the end product was, maybe next time.
Do you put into jar or any freezer container. Love this idea
I have only ever done it in glass jar, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work in any appropriate freezer container!
Rosemary tea is awesome for bronchitis or chest colds ...
Ooh I have never tried this! Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for this tip !!🤗 I already freeze my parsley and dill and garlic and ginger so why not add rosemary !! My fav is lemon and rosemary chicken . Brine it overnight with the rosemary and lemons and sea salt then stuff it with the lemons and rosemary that was in the brine and bake or put on rotisserie or grill. 😋 Yum !!!
Delicious! I am familiar with that type of recipe and agree it’s pretty yummy. I love having fresh tasting herbs in winter 🥰
In the video, you suggest freezing, but then say freeze drying at the end. Do you put them in the freezer in the mason jar or freeze dry them? Thanks!
🤭oops!!! I should have just said freeze. I just pop them in the mason jar, close the lid, and place in the freezer!
@@BrambleHillHomesteadwhenever you bring them out, do the rosemary leaves become soggy after defrosting?
I didn't see the use of the blueberries for the color
Yeah midway through the video I changed my mind cuz the color was looking so nice. It was just a quick comment so perhaps you missed it. Sorry about that.
Thank you
Just a little tip..if you take a about 1/4c of sugar from your sugar amount an mix with your pectin it will dissolve in a flash❤
Oh, wonderful! I will try that! 💜
Can I freeze the petals until I can make the jelly
No, unfortunately the petals don’t keep well at all. You can keep the tea (boiled down petals) for a couple days in the fridge though!
@@BrambleHillHomestead OK thank you
😂 it’s always a good feeling having running water connected up, good luck!
What a waste of time. Three quarters of the video was useless.
Luna had a great little adventure. Beautiful lake & mountains as well. Have a lovely day
I loved your video, it just what I was looking for! Thank You!
Fantastic! So glad to hear ❤️
I'm going back and rewatching your past videos because I need an Erinn and Daniel fix! I hope you guys are doing well!
Doesn’t the jar crack in the freezer?
Nope it doesn’t :)
Hi from Australia thank you just came home fro my markets, bought some Rosemary because mine are still very small atm but I'm so happy I came across your helping hand & fabulous idea I do prefer fresh to dry, dry is just to woody for me. so thank you once again, can't wait to see what other advice you have & yes I'm a SUBBIE now. You had me at frozen FRESH oh & I'm going to wash mine then put them into my salad spinner to dry them quicker, I'm much older and getting inpatient these days lol.
Hi!!!!! Yes I am a sucker for fresh too!! I don’t think you will be disappointed! Like the day it was picked!! Welcome to our channel!
@@BrambleHillHomestead oh I love fresh best, oh & I have Vac & Seal so I wonder how fresh will go in that, love to know your view ? Back to stripping lol
@@Lozyloza1 no better way than to try it? I would vac and seal it and still throw it in the freezer!
@@BrambleHillHomestead I did put it in the fridge but now it’s in freezer with the jarred ones, thank you again.

That's a lot of snow 😮
What filtration system do you use?
We don’t have a filtration system. Aside from primary filters in the lines for debris.
Ok
Love those raised beds I made my beds the exact design used hugelculture method for the first time last season with tremendous success. I only started with 3 beds I hope to have 12 completed this coming growing season. As I get well into my 60s this method should help me to continue gardening for the rest of my life. Love your channel
That’s fantastic that you’ve had good results!! These ended up being fantastic for our root vegetables this year. We have a lot of rocks in our ground, and the ground gets quite compact with the tough elements. I think I’ll be happy in the coming years too! Thanks for your note!
تبارك الله عليك 👍👍🌹🌹👏❤️❤️
Omg! So glad you guys are back! We were wondering where you guys went. Looks similar to trimming goat hooves. Your sheep seem a lot calmer than our crazy goats! Great video! Glad to see you guys!
Hey great job for your first time trimming the sheep’s hooves. I love the Fiskars shears they work great in the garden too. 😁
Hey everyone , so good to see y’all . Great job on the hoofs !!!
