Also I want to add that the people like Collect Jurassic, Jurassic Outpost etc should be “removed” from community entirely for supporting that kind of crap. I feel like this whole reason this is a crowd”fund” is because they need to show the higher ups that they can make money from this stuff. And it’s going to fail! Therefore I think the line is gonna take a major hit. If we don’t get the Rex repaint through this set we will probably just end up getting it in like a year or something on its own. This would have been SO much more successful if a) it was based on money numbers and not people numbers and b) each “kickstarter goal” was actually its own unique set that you could buy right from the get go, that way people would probably dump way more money in and get everything funded. What a waste of potential.
I mainly think if they cheaped it down a tad (like take out the lights, car, Rex, etc) and just gave us some fences and a standard gate, it would have been just as good. Sadly it’s locked behind tiers and an organ donation

@@ripoffranter There are other examples of Mattel royally screwing their asses up, the first one is the SDCC exclusives, which were both characters tons of people liked, and they were the only toys of those characters at the time, John Hammond and Nedry, to name a few. The second is the fact is y’all know this one, the Legacy Spinosaurus incident a figure which didn’t deserve it’s praise due to the poor quality and bad loose joints on it, but it was the only “good” JP3 Spinosaurus toy around. It’s a simple fact that history repeats itself and this crowdfund might just be the nail in the coffin for Mattel’s long sad history of bad ideas and their all new made mistakes.

Well at minimum, if this is the path Mattel wants to move the Jurassic line forward with, it's going to dig the Hammond collection an early grave. But based on how they handled (or mishandled) the Amber collection, I just don't think Mattel really knows how to appeal to a collector market. Both lines have been so horribly mishandled, scatter brained, and felt completely unorganized in terms of releases and how/ when things were released. Like there are no actual waves after the first 2, it was just sporadic and elusive and none of the figures really felt like they corresponded with each other. Not to mention, they just don't *feel* like true collector quality figures. There are too many corner cuts and problems that carried over from the core line bled into their collectors lines.
I’m only interested in the Buck Rex but not as part of a crowdfund project, it’s just making me hurt. But beside the negative, Hammond Collection has gotten a new Carnotaurus coming out but not from this crowdfund problem.

He wasn't the only one acting like a jackass over this, but he was probably the loudest. Glad to find a video that's talking about this! I was looking at the actual website page for this earlier today and it felt so weird to read through. Mattel easily has 3 solid products here with the Trex, the ford explorer and the gate so I don't see why they thought putting them all together in a crowdfunding project would be the optimal way to go. A better crowd-fund would be a diorama of the main road attack. They could have included all the stretch items from this same set, but instead be the fences, the road itself (similar to the iron studios dio, but with a little more forward-to-back depth ), maybe with a little bit of foliage- and included crushed 04 as the base tier, or instead included the crushed explorer as a stretch tier, with 05 included as a base item instead.
I mean at this point this is over. Only 1100 backers and that’s including international ones, which costs even more! This is probably the worst thing Mattel made with this line, even worse than the Hasbro line from 2015. Not only this campaign is doomed to fail, Mattel will not apologize to the fans, which they should’ve done immediately after they saw that funding was that law and opened it for international backers. This is a disaster. At this point I’m considering quitting JW toy collecting entirely or at least Hammond Collection line. I don’t want to support that kind of “business” decisions :|||
It continues to amaze me that a significant portion of the collector fanbase truly believes that this kind of product should go/could go to retail. There is NO WAY that Walmart or Target would carry this item - it's too expensive for their average customer and it is way too big to be put on a shelf. Mattel had issues selling Castle Grayskull at retail for $80 in a much smaller footprint. The days of 1 package on the shelf that takes up the better part of 4' square of retail space is gone. Toys R Us would have been the only retailer to attempt this & it probably would have been displayed as a "ticketed" item. Those days are long gone. This particular item also is not directed at retails' #1 customer - kids. There is nothing about this set that could justify to any parent to spend the $$ for their child - even at a reduced "retail" price. Strip away the TRex, the car & the kids & you are still probably looking at $100-150. The Jurassic fanbase, from a kids perspective, is not interested in a motorized gate with fencing - they want dinosaurs. The only way this gets made is if the JP COLLECTOR fanbase pays for it. Mattel has already tried crowdfunding items prior to this - they were successful with the Eternia playset, less so with the Wrestling ring - but to say this is in reaction to the Mesozoic sales program is a stretch. Mattel is responding to the success of Hasbro with the majority of its crowdfunded items - nothing more or less. To also say that Mattel is a billion dollar company and they can afford to make this stuff is true - to a point. Mattel has $$$ on hand, however, nothing Mattel makes, regardless of where it is sold, is made without someone ordering it first. All of those JP dinos currently on the pegs at Walmart/Target were ordered & paid for by WM/Target prior to the production. Mattel does not just make stuff & then hope some retailer buys it - they need minimum orders & a committment to buy the toy in order to go into production. Crowdfunding is no different except we are the buyer, not Walmart. We can certainly have a discussion regarding the price point and the items offered. I agree that it is too expensive - it requires the entire goal structure to be met in order to "justify" its price tag. I agree that the additional tiers are weak - tier 4 is almost comical. I believe that Mattel should have just offered the gate, the paddock signs & the fencing as one package and offered that for $150. Because they inflated the price with a relatively weak tier structure, I don't think this will be successful - but that is Mattel's mistake to learn from.

I think that if retailers won’t sell it, then Mattel themselves could easily put the product on a website they own, kinda similar to how they put up a crowdfund on Mattel creations. Just take out the crowdfund part and it’d be good. Also thank you for informing me of the other crowdfunds they’ve done. That does throw out the BOTM argument completely, so I will give you that one. Finally, saying that customers need to buy the products for Mattel is ludicrous. We are not retailers. We shouldn’t have to pay this much, and more importantly, pay for that quantity. Retailers can more easily do that bc, like Mattel, they’re billion dollar companies. We as customers are not rich. If the set is too much to put out, like I said in the video, cheap it down. Take out the lights, remove the automatic door, just give us a basics gates and fence pack (and knowing the JW line) throw in a Dino. That’d equate to 50 USD at most. I would have much preferred that to this, and I’m sure kids would as well. Overall tho main point of this video was to address the ridiculous amount of money they’re asking for it, and how we shouldn’t be their retailers, which I’m pretty sure you agree on both. I’m only interested in the Buck Rex but not as part of a crowdfund project, it’s just making me hurt. But beside the negative, Hammond Collection has gotten a new Carnotaurus coming out but not from this crowdfund problem.

oh boy i surerly do love mattel a billion dollar company charging adult collectors 250 for toys "meant for adults" id rather pay 250 for literally a whole dinosaur herd of visitor center with light and sound, mattel is just really fucking stupid im gonna say this right now, hell they didnt even add dew claw paint and improve the rex sculpt much, it still has cartoony proportions and no dew claw paint, i have the 2009 bull trex from hasbro, that figure is a kids toy meant for kids and actually has dew claw paint and better paint than a figure "meant for adults" like dawg mattel, you have the finances to literally make a actually good articulated t rex figure and playset, it shouldnt be difficult for a billion dollar company to do it, i wouldnt be complaining much if the whole set was like 90-120, it should not be worth fucking 250 💀

This is how the fans begin to steer the ship. The next project has a high chance to be a community suggestion. But the Buck should’ve been the 2nd tier. But as it’s set up currently. I like it but I can’t back it.
What is sad is that I would have supported this but I just heard about it now and it is over. I have a couple of Hammond Collection figures like the T-Rex and thought they was great. Sad this set did not come out at retail and sad to see this crowd fund fail. Seriously, Lego was able to sell a sell a similar set in Lego, the Jurassic Park: T. Rex Rampage set at retail for $249.99 why couldn't Mattel? If the higher ups at Mattel don't know how to sell toys why are they working there?
I would mind that price if there wasn't seperate goals and it was just the gate, fences, but slso add a Henry Wu, fhe goat, the signs, and a Visitor Center playset. That is whay should've been funded, all as one, not this crap

I just remembered this crowdfund today and went looking to see if anything else has been said about it, and it brought me here (I know this is an older video). I don't even collect any more but I do keep up with what comes out, and.... yeeeeah, this really soured me on Collect Jurassic. He wasn't the only one acting like a jackass over this, but he was probably the loudest.

And not only did (as someone else mentioned) he block anyone who dared criticize Mattel crowdfunding this """""amazing set""""", he also was so asshurt by the end that he left social media for like five minutes and declared this in a post that he also deleted in about five minutes. Not to mention that he once tried to lead a boycott over Mattel neglecting to include the red stripe on one of the Jeep Wrangler toys, yet was completely fine with this clusterfuck. And he clearly mostly blames collectors for why Mattel's shitty crowdfund failed, and not that, y'know, it was horribly presented and planned, over half of it was retools of existing shit, and the only element anyone REALLY wanted (the Buck) was locked behind 8000 backers at first, and that international backers were initially blocked until they reached 5,000 backers (IIRC), which they didn't even halfway reach once all was said and done, lmao.
It's like the shining example of how NOT to do a crowdfund.
Something I've been wondering is how will the boxes look? Will they be typical hc boxes or like the Amazon exclusive boxes?
For the price they should of did more. Like mabey make the car an rc, include more of cast and dinsoaurs like the raptors or dilos. Kust actually give something that would juatify the price. If the they didnt make it a crowdfund ,mabey relalease the "tiers" as different sets, and maje it international It probably could of been awesome. The fact is when I first say it in pictures and knew nothing else I thought it was cool. Then watching your vid and there awful live stream about it I hate it and the people behind it.

@@ripoffranter I went on the jurassic park wiki and i found out that there is a Crap ton of Albelisaurs (a species of dinosaur related to carnotaurus) and all those albelisaurs were in the DNA of indominus rex but I still hope we get to have all the Albelisaurs from the jurassic franchise in 1 box and if they do that then they will most likely to make a deinosuchus too

I was looking at the actual website page for this earlier today and it felt so weird to read through.
Mattel easily has 3 solid products here with the Trex, the ford explorer and the gate so I don't see why they thought putting them all together in a crowdfunding project would be the optimal way to go.

A better crowd-fund would be a diorama of the main road attack. They could have included all the stretch items from this same set, but instead be the fences, the road itself (similar to the iron studios dio, but with a little more forward-to-back depth ), maybe with a little bit of foliage- and included crushed 04 as the base tier, or instead included the crushed explorer as a stretch tier, with 05 included as a base item instead.

I mean at this point this is over. Only 1100 backers and that’s including international ones, which costs even more! This is probably the worst thing Mattel made with this line, even worse than the Hasbro line from 2015. Not only this campaign is doomed to fail, Mattel will not apologize to the fans, which they should’ve done immediately after they saw that funding was that law and opened it for international backers. This is a disaster. At this point I’m considering quitting JW toy collecting entirely or at least Hammond Collection line. I don’t want to support that kind of “business” decisions :|||

It continues to amaze me that a significant portion of the collector fanbase truly believes that this kind of product should go/could go to retail. There is NO WAY that Walmart or Target would carry this item - it's too expensive for their average customer and it is way too big to be put on a shelf. Mattel had issues selling Castle Grayskull at retail for $80 in a much smaller footprint. The days of 1 package on the shelf that takes up the better part of 4' square of retail space is gone. Toys R Us would have been the only retailer to attempt this & it probably would have been displayed as a "ticketed" item. Those days are long gone.
This particular item also is not directed at retails' #1 customer - kids. There is nothing about this set that could justify to any parent to spend the $$ for their child - even at a reduced "retail" price. Strip away the TRex, the car & the kids & you are still probably looking at $100-150. The Jurassic fanbase, from a kids perspective, is not interested in a motorized gate with fencing - they want dinosaurs. The only way this gets made is if the JP COLLECTOR fanbase pays for it.
Mattel has already tried crowdfunding items prior to this - they were successful with the Eternia playset, less so with the Wrestling ring - but to say this is in reaction to the Mesozoic sales program is a stretch. Mattel is responding to the success of Hasbro with the majority of its crowdfunded items - nothing more or less.
To also say that Mattel is a billion dollar company and they can afford to make this stuff is true - to a point. Mattel has $$$ on hand, however, nothing Mattel makes, regardless of where it is sold, is made without someone ordering it first. All of those JP dinos currently on the pegs at Walmart/Target were ordered & paid for by WM/Target prior to the production. Mattel does not just make stuff & then hope some retailer buys it - they need minimum orders & a committment to buy the toy in order to go into production. Crowdfunding is no different except we are the buyer, not Walmart.
We can certainly have a discussion regarding the price point and the items offered. I agree that it is too expensive - it requires the entire goal structure to be met in order to "justify" its price tag. I agree that the additional tiers are weak - tier 4 is almost comical. I believe that Mattel should have just offered the gate, the paddock signs & the fencing as one package and offered that for $150.
Because they inflated the price with a relatively weak tier structure, I don't think this will be successful - but that is Mattel's mistake to learn from.

Firstly, this is probably the most well constructed comment I’ve got as a criticism thus far, and I support that, thank you.
I think that if retailers won’t sell it, then Mattel themselves could easily put the product on a website they own, kinda similar to how they put up a crowdfund on Mattel creations. Just take out the crowdfund part and it’d be good.
Also thank you for informing me of the other crowdfunds they’ve done. That does throw out the BOTM argument completely, so I will give you that one.
Finally, saying that customers need to buy the products for Mattel is ludicrous. We are not retailers. We shouldn’t have to pay this much, and more importantly, pay for that quantity. Retailers can more easily do that bc, like Mattel, they’re billion dollar companies. We as customers are not rich. If the set is too much to put out, like I said in the video, cheap it down. Take out the lights, remove the automatic door, just give us a basics gates and fence pack (and knowing the JW line) throw in a Dino. That’d equate to 50 USD at most. I would have much preferred that to this, and I’m sure kids would as well.
Overall tho main point of this video was to address the ridiculous amount of money they’re asking for it, and how we shouldn’t be their retailers, which I’m pretty sure you agree on both. Again thank you for the comment.
