- Today we'll be trying out the free demo for UNBEATABLE white label! It's a special episodic rhythm adventure game. It has a story and pretty neat characters! I have no idea how this game is and if this is the first episode, a demo or what in the world is happening because it feels lot more like an alpha or beta because the UI and everything is pretty confusing tbh ._.

This game has a really nice art style, but the charts seem a little hard to read, even with the filters off. I think something that’ll help is the monsters disappearing more quickly, because it takes a second or two for them to fall offscreen after you hit them.
I hope the devs can somehow adjust this. I really like the gameplay, but yeah I agree the monsters may need to fade out faster
heyoo, since I've been following the game for a long while let me help ya a bit in the case that you want to come back (or for anyone else who's reading this ig).
unfortunately the tutorials don't make this clear but it's kinda intended to be played with one hand. one finger on J and another on I, therefore the "lower" finger hits the low notes and the "higher" finger hits the high ones. as for moving around in the UI, you go to the previous screen with ESC. finally as someone who has played the hell out of muse dash and somewhat recently came to this I can confirm that the harder levels of UNBEATABLE are much easier in the sense that they're easier to read and understand, while muse dash level 9~11 feel more like an endless gauntlet of notes. also muse dash focus a lot more on jacks and mini jacks while UNBEATABLE overall has a variety of charts that make sense with the theme of the song. also it has a bunch of flip flops or stair-like instances (up/down/up/down) which is where the up/down positioning of the fingers with I and J really come in handy.
oh and a trailer was shown at the day of the devs revealing that the songs you'll be performing will be determined by your choices. so yeah, the whole JRPG and semi-open world aesthetics of the game are a big part of UNBEATABLE.

@@bisisnowhere oh that's a bug. it should let you progress when you hit any of the keys shown but for some reason it tends to get stuck on that screen. I think the game is really buggy on AMD hardware overall

Rhythm Doctor recently did a collaboration with this game! RD currently has an Unbeatable song in it, and there's going to be an RD song added into Unbeatable in a coming update!
seems "like" muse dash, i really liked this game, the art style, animations, and the dialogues options.
Is it just me or is anyone else getting a headache looking at this. I love the cartoon style just a lot more colourful than I remember

I love the anime 90s VHS style though
it's the filters that give me migraines. the game is gorgeous, the style and the color are excellent but i never realized how much hinderance the filters actually were until i turned them off. my eyes didn't have to strain and the game ran way smoother than before. idk maybe it's because i have a potato pc but i think it's best to turn off the filters to get a better experience out of it. i've played the game for 14 hours on record and substantially, unbeatable mode without the filters is literal childsplay
I'm so happy you're playing this game! I've been promoting it everywhere since I found their kickstarter because I absolutely LOVE the concept and the music. Even though the playstyle is similar to Muse Dash, the moving screen gives it enough originality to stay entertaining. AND THE MUSIC OH MY GODDD
Edit: Also, you have to play more songs to progress in the story. After and before every song you have the little story part and after playing a few songs you get back to the 'open' world. Of course this is a demo and I'm pretty sure you can walk around more in the actual game.

I really like the concept they've been going for, though I wonder about the decision to make it max. 2 consecutive buttons; feel like it limits their otherwise super high potential charting ability somewhat.
When I played through it I used exclusively df for leftside notes and jk for right side, so I don't think that actually separating them for the sake of mapping diversity would actually impact the game negatively in any way, though
(Looks like they added option for ei as jump note button options which just made the tutorial a bit more confusing lmAO)
With the lane swaps you have to kind of condition yourself to look for the "UP NEXT" marker; I think it's a bit easy to miss when you first start on it but it becomes really natural to read pretty quickly

Well, judging by how much he hated Muse Dash it's safe to say he'll dislike this just as much if not more. It doesn't really get brought up that much in this video, but the actual rhythm game part of the game is kinda janky right now. Offset feels inconsistent and hard to pin down, stuff like that. It's not Friday Night Funkin levels of bad, but it's still there and Etienne is more critical of that than most people, almost to the point of absurdity. As I see it, Etienne sees and approaches rhythm games as a sport; They can't be or should not try to be anything more. Meanwhile, pretty much everyone else sees the genre as an art form or some middle ground between the two.
TL;DR: He probably will hate it, but his opinions are ones that have to be taken with a couple teaspoons of salt anyway.

The reason for EFJI is a thing is because it more naturally follows the offset in length of the index and middle fingers

There is a cross-over stage of UNBEATABLE at Rhythm Doctor, maybe you could try it? (Also one day please check out the nightshifts of Rhythm Doctor, a lot of great contents are there!)
I remember at the end of one stage (but I forgot which one it was, maybe its 'waiting') there is another exploring scene where you can move around, but the camera view was kind of blocked out, I wonder if it was a bug that they fixed recently.

I can see why some people (including me) wouldn't even try to play these types of games. While I definitely don't have enough experience to talk since I've only really played Cytus, Arcaea, Osu, and Piano Tiles, I can say that the artstyle and charting is making the game basically unreadable. Too much filters and pretty things isn't really the norm in terms of rhythm games, so I'd like to see where this game goes
